- In 1994, Sonic Triple Trouble was criticized in game mags for being more of the same. However, looking back, it's clear that Triple Trouble is a high point for Sonic on the Game Gear, with some of the best gameplay, artwork, and design the portable system would ever see. In fact, I would go as far to say that it's the GGGOAT - the Greatest Game Gear Game of All Time.

This was my first GG game. I bought it on the 3DS eshop when I was little with the permission of my parents, and fell in love with it. For me, the music really stuck with me more than anything

Definitely the game that made me respect Game Gear. So creative, willing to try things. Loved the story and vibe. The first Sonic game I felt compelled to try and get all the Chaos Emeralds and beat, I wanted to see all the Special Stages and Fang appearances. Loved Metal Sonic appearing. Soundtrack is very underrated.
yeah I fully agree. I'm glad to see people are finally starting to notice triple trouble for what it is. I used to see a lot of people talk up sonic chaos instead and I don't really get it, triple trouble has always felt like such a premium product for Game gear.
I remember playing it for the first time on 3DS and having my jaw drop when I hit that seamless transition from sunset parked act 2 into the boss fight. couldn't believe I hadn't seen anyone talk about it before
I agree with you there. Mind you Chaos is still legit fun and fast, and I would guess it's because it was mostly everyone's introduction to Sonic Gamegear titles. So it holds a special place in peoples' hearts.

Awesome video! We seem to have the exact same opinions on this game, and very similar memories with it. I had just about all of the Game Gear Sonic games that came out back in the day, and Triple Trouble was always my favorite.

Not sure if you do requests but ristar is a cool game. It’s a port of the genesis version. And I’m like other game gear ports this one is actually pretty faithful to the source material. And even adds in a couple new levels. It’s a fun puzzle/platform or game the North American in Japan versions of different story, so choose the story by preference. It has a great soundtrack and overall it’s a great game. I think you should do a video about it sometime!
0:58 - I myself have a modded Sega Game Gear that runs on rechargeable batteries. I bought it from eBay for 300 big ones. That's how I play my Game Gear games.
Now that you've done the most well known Sonic Game Gear titles, it would be cool to see you also cover Aspect's other GG releases, as well as more Game Gear entries in popular console series like the Shining Force games and Panzer Dragoon Mini

This is Sonic 3 for Game Gear in my own opinion. And yes I agree its the BEST Sonic game out of the rest.

As a kid Sonic 2 for game gear scar'd me, it didn't put me off on sonic, but it did make me stop paying attention to sonic game gear releases, so I legitimately don't recall what it was that led me to purchasing Triple trouble. Whatever the reason, I recall absolutely ADORING triple trouble and not shutting up about how great it was to anyone who still had a game gear. It kind of reminds me of Mario Land vs Mario Land 2, except Mario Land 1 was still an okay, if short and weird, game, while Sonic 2 on the gamegear was just awful. Also apparently there was a game, Sonic chaos, I never even knew existed that was much better in between the two sonic games, but still, for me, as some one who never even had sonic 1 for game gear (as sonic 2 came with my game gear and was so bad I didn't want to try the others), it was a similar situation, mario land 2 changed my mind about how good mario game boy games could be, and sonic triple trouble did the same about sonic for game gear.

Triple Trouble is my favorite Game Gear game. And I consider it part of the classic era of Sonic games. It takes me about 1.5 hours to beat it if I go for all the Chaos Emeralds. The last Chaos Emerald stage is really hard and has some puzzle elements. Exploring the stages is fun to find the Chaos Emerald boxes and the rings you need to open them. Finding the Chaos Emerald box on Tidal Plant Act 1 is very difficult. The music had "soul" to it, my favorite song was Act 3 on Sunset Park. It was a lot more epic than the bloops and bleeps of the Game Boy. Triple Trouble certainly was a lot more impressive than anything on the Game Boy in 1995.
Europe got a release of this game for Master System, but the U.S. did not.

I have this on my 2ds. When i was a kid i only saw a Game Gear at Rent a Center and the game was Tails Adventure. So i thought the gg only had Tails games 🤔

"Sonic Triple Trouble" should be recreated as a "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" based rom hack (for Genesis emulators).
