Good catches. Unfortunately Southern California is not like the bay area with halibuts. Legal size halibuts are hard to come by in the areas accessible by kayakers and land anglers in Southern California. Big halibuts are around the islands (Catalina, Channel Islands, San Clemente, etc.) which we can't pedal out to due to distance.
