Kandi deserves kudos for a great interview. Jasmine was very honest about her feelings. This topic is something the world is learning how to deal with.
If you care about yourself and the people you are intimate with, you would disclose important information. Lying or withholding information will never change the truth, it only amplify the consequences when the truth comes out.

I'm also a trans woman I disagreed with a lot of things she said. Dating is already hard for girls like us. Men approach me everyday I don't tell them I'm trans because I don't have any interest in them. Now I believe if you're interested in a man you need to tell that man the truth! This is how people get hurt and killed because of situations like hers. It's not right give the man a chance and his right choice to deal with you, if he doesn't want to , so be it. Pure Trickery

I love Jasmine and her role as Imani, I can’t lie, I was a little taken back when she spoke of not disclosing her trans womanhood to men she dated, and her reasoning does make some sense, but in this climate, her not disclosing could be seen as problematic. But I am happy today and forth she is proudly open as a trans woman. She is beautiful.

They have to realize how dangerous that is for them so many have been killed for that. Let people have a choice.

This was a great interview. I’m a transgender woman and although her story is different from mine. I’ve always been very honest when dating. I also love seeing someone else’s story and how they navigated through life.

Chyle. It honestly doesn’t matter. We date ppl all the time that doesn’t disclose everything about themselves from their credit to cosmetic surgeries early on. You can’t date and fall in love with a woman automatically expecting them to be able to have your kids or sexually please you. That’s upon discovery and opening up....that ain’t necessary on the first date to tell business that can easily get you killed. There’s men who aren’t necessarily looking for trans women but wouldn’t mind dating them,...it’s up to the maturity of the man to accept whether or not that is for them or not and not react with violence based off their own hatred and insecurities. Not everyone exists to live to your expectations. You can’t kill everyone who disappoints you. Dust yourself off and Move on to the next.

Beautiful without any makeup and I didn't know she was Trans until Kandi stated it. Wonderful person however I think full disclosure is needed in the very beginning for any relationship. Doesn't matter if you are Trans, heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, etc. Certain things about yourself or preferences just needs to be discussed early.
I really be watching Kandi videos all the the way through. It doesn't matter who they are or what they talk about, it never seems to stop being interesting. We dont have to agree with people choices but be RESPECTFUL and Compassionate. You LITERALLY might HELP save someone's life. Keep It Up Kandi and Jasmine, we love to see it. I think for a lot of trans women who are famous or already respected, they don’t have to worry the same as an “everyday” trans person. They be in a whole different world sometimes, and the harm can still come to her but I see how she hasn’t had the same issues

I had never watched The Chi until 2 weeks ago. I have watched every episode, and that was one of the best series I have watched ever! I think you’re looking at it in black and white. She also mentioned that she dated educated and cultured men which makes a difference. She also mentioned that she dated men who had something to lose. These are ppl less likely to pop off with a gun just because they don’t wanna have to tell their boys they laid down “with a man”. Theres a better chance (not a 100% guarantee) that they would look at it more dynamically vs “omg I’m not gay, pop pop”..,It’s very obvious what she meant - it wasn’t said in a perfect way but it’s obvious that ppl in these comments are simply letting things go over their heads. She’s a liar boo hoo.....do you take your wig and make up off on the first date? We all navigate the judgement of the world in our own way. And all of us eventually find things out about a potential partner that makes us not a match. She’s not lying if no one knew something. I doubt these men asked about her organs or her gender - they simply wanted her and was disappointed that they weren’t sexually compatible. Walls never fall the same for anyone. Respect her process - I’m sure those exes are fine and moved on with their lives.

I’m very curious to know more about why she chose to refer to herself as an avatar during this interview. I just feel that was an interesting choice of words and I’ve never heard someone refer to themselves as an avatar. I enjoyed this interview Kandi.

Great interview. Now what I don't agree on is putting young girls on birth control. Studies have shown birth control is one of the leading causes of fibroids, and black women suffer from them the most. What we should be teaching young women is to protect and respect their bodies. We should also be teaching them that if they are sexual active and their partner doesn't want to wear a condom then they don't respect them or their body enough to have them. If you don't want to wrap up, it's time to get up. Women in general should be more worried about catching an incurable STI than getting pregnant. A man needs to do his part in "controlling birth" and that's wearing a condom. "Controlling birth" is not solely a woman's job, stop teaching young girls that it is. We also need to teach young men to STOP asking a woman if she's on birth control, it's not your business. Forget what she's doing or not doing, PROTECT YOURSELF from an STI or an unwanted pregnancy that you have ZERO control over...wear a condom at all times.

Ppl are commenting on how she is so much prettier in person than she is on the show. What you have to know and remember is that the hair and makeup done in movies, plays, etc is done to for the role of the character, not to make the person look their best as in real life. Her character as well as her boyfriends character (Luke James) don’t have a lot of money at all so the wigs, clothing, makeup and where they live will reflect their socio-economic lifestyle/situation. Her boyfriend on her show, Luke James, looks rough all the time, no haircut and unshaven, etc because the character he plays has no real job, no money, just trying to make it from day to day. The look reflects the character folks.
I love her character on the show, however, it’s not right to have full disclosure. A college student just killed a transsexual because of not disclosing. Not cool.

Respect to all but people can find individuals attractive, same sex or opposite sex and still have a distinct preference as to who they wish to have sex with and have a family with. It is not a fair practice. Waiting until someone feels they love you then give them the real you is a horrible experience. It is literally bait and hook.
