UK canner here. I love using lug lid jars. My Pro Plus arrived yesterday and I can't wait to have a play with it. I've been canning for about 7 years now and have a 23qt Presto, so a much smaller canner is ideal for me when there are just a few jars.
Thank you Tracy. That’s the first time I’ve seen food pressure canned using screw top jars. The Mason or Ball jars they use in the US are too expensive here (uk). Finally a uk solution. Thank you xx
I’m considering buying one of these. So to see recipes in advance is great. It’s quite an investment money wise and I want to make sure I will get a lot of use out of it before I commit. So glad I’ve found your channel. I watch lots of similar American you tube channels, it’s so much more relatable to see your content from the uk. I’m up in Scotland.😊
I'm glad you found us too! Best of luck if you take the plunge. I find things soon mount up if you set aside a couple of nights a week to get things done. Plus it's a slow cooker, pressure cooker etc too!
Yellow tail jammy red spotted sitting in the corner. My fave.😂 Fab that you did this as I’ve bought the same instant pot back just before Easter, still sitting in its unopened box.🥴 To nervous to give it a go. But this video Tracy has given me the confidence to give it a try. Thanks hunni.🥰 Super excited when you bring in your harvest and begin preserving. 😁
Sadly an empty bottle 😂 my fave too! I remember you saying I think! Do a little reading of the booklet to familiarise yourself with how much water to add and buttons etc and once you’ve done one thing (try water to start if worried?) then you’ll feel a lot better. So pleased it helped xx
Thank you so much for that Tracy, you've made that look so simple. I've got a bit of smallholding binge watching to do 😊😊 Hope everyone is keeping well? Sean x
Brilliant video, such great info, very useful! Can you please advise on where to purchase the lug jars. I didn't think it was possible to can in this way in the UK - yay! I'm off to look for a canning group to join, so excited to start my canning journey. Thanks again :)
Looks awesome and I best it tastes even better. Do you miss the smells of cooking such dishes with an insta pot? Have a super weekend and look forward to the next update , Ali 🌞🥵🇨🇦
When I am canning there’s no smells usually, unless something siphons 😂 then i say ooops or something stronger 😂 but when i cook things using the pressure cooking rather than canning you still smell it when it vents. You can’t beat traditional cooking IMO but this is a sanity saver on “those days” Sat in the shed replying to you Ali, the weather is yoyo-ing today but I’ve an hour and a half of weeding now before I go for Grace from work. Yey 😂😂😇
Hi Gaynor, I have them on my list! Traditionally beans are done at meat timings so 75 for pins but there’s an approved recipe at 60 mins. I think 30 might be too short. I will do 75 I initially for mine and see how they turn out :) HTH x
@@OurSmallholdingAdventure I will take your advise as I really aren’t an expert in canning. I only thought less as they are precooked but your advise sounds sensible. TY and hope you’ve had had a productive weekend
Hi Jeanette, I bought them every month for a year on payday from an online store called jarsandbottles which I found from using the Facebook group called preserving and canning Uk. I now rotate through the jars and I do reuse lids where I feel ok however they sell lids too. Hope that helps :)
@ so just to clarify that I understand your response. The “instant pot max” DOES display the temperature during the canning process. The “instant pot pro plus” DOES NOT display the temperature during the canning process.
@@ALL-AMERICANAsorry I wasn’t clear. I am talking only about the Instant Pot Pro Plus. This model has a function for canning which you can choose the psi for. The max psi option is the 15 reference I made. None of my instant pots that have show an internal temperature display.
@@tracychadfield2515 perfect thanks! I was trying to decide between the pro plus, and the max. It turns out the max does display a temperature…. However, the max does not have Wi-Fi capability.

You're very welcome. I have a series coming up later in November which may be useful or interesting on UK canning :)

Ahh that's great Sean! All good here thank you :)
Your two videos just got me over the line in pressing the Buy button for the Pro Plus (I already have 3 instant pots of various sizes...!!!).
Yey!!! I love mine
Love these videos using InstaPot pro plus 🙏🏻
We have a new series starting later in November :)
@@OurSmallholdingAdventureI can’t wait 👏👏👏👏
This was brilliant Tracy! Thanks for showing. I’ve done stock and legumes in mine but haven’t branched out. Definitely will give this a try. 😉😘
Thank you Deb! Definitely worth a try! Xx
Oh my gosh - the instant pot lid holder hole thingy! How did I not know that?! You're my hero 😂
haha fab!

How long would you can homemade baked beans in the IP Pro Plus for Tracy? I was thinking about 30mins but not sure… This is so informative x

Hi Tracy, great video I have been using mine for 6 months but still struggle finding jars and lids. Where do you get yours from?

Hi Tracy . I was under the impression you should not CAN using dried herbs as they blacks over time. Have you found this to be the case?
Hi there 👋 I’ve always used dried without issues. I think sage is the o my one I’ve avoided but I do use it in broth then remove to can :)
When it is in the process of canning, does it tell you the exact temperature that it’s cooking at?
No it doesn’t display it but the Max is 15psi tested and you can include a wireless thermometer to test for temp if preferred. I have one.
