Quit NPR in the 90's. Frontline, in an article about Reagan's meeting with Govbachev in Iceland, ended the scene when they said goodbye, with Gorbachev saying "I don't know what else I could have done.", regarding their inability to reach agreement. What Reagan said in reply, "I do, you could have said yes." was cut off from the scene, thus twisting the whole truth to be unrecognizable. The latter fact I learned when I visited the Reagan library in Simi Valley. I think such manipulative reporting on the part of NPR is despicable. Still, they are a reliable source, much like a weatherman who is always wrong. You just draw the opposite conclusion that they try to feed you, and you'll have the truth.
Defund NPR of all taxpayer dollars now!

Living in California, I always considered myself a liberal. So, I used to watch NPR exclusively for news, or rather, I used to watch Juan Williams. So when he left NPR and came to Fox News, I followed him. After watching many of the hosts on Fox, I realized more and more I wasn't a liberal I was really a closet conservative and finally came out, which I couldn't believe cost me my friends. The one thing I have realized is that liberal news is more about pushing an agenda and less about the news. And Rachel Maddow more or less admitted it in her deposition. When she said her show wasn't about the news, it was about opinion.

I started listening to NPR on my commute to college back in the 1970s. It was left leaning then but now has toppled all the way over to socialist. And this has been on the taxpayers' dime.

Finally somebody with brains. The bulk of NPR’S funding comes from the corporation for public broadcasting. Which is funded by tax dollars.

My friend about six years ago told me to listen to the title of the broadcast...and listen to how they tell you to believe before NPR presents any facts...He is a black conservative and he has been dead on for everything.
I listened to NPR every day for years during the Susan Stamberg days. Sure, I knew that they had their slant, but they gave a broad view and I got a lot of information from them. But slowly I realized that they were changing, and when Nina Totenberg described a liberal Supreme Court 5-4 decision as 'a solid majority,' and soon after a conservative 5-4 decision as a 'deeply divided court,' I knew that they were changing. It just got worse from there. By about 2000, I had stopped listening and I haven't gone back. Haven't missed them, either, which is a pity. If they disappeared I don't think anyone would mind and only a few would notice.
I worked at NPR in 2006 -- in Audience Research. It wasn't so bad back then. They were proud of having moved beyond their narrow liberal base of the 1980s to embrace the broader center. That's how they grew. Clearly, they've regressed and are now paying the price with a declining listener base.
As a conservative I love to debate or casually talk politics if someone wants to. Why would anyone want to be in a political monopoly?

Presumably, wikipedia got the numbers right on this: NPR lost listeners, from a high of 38 million in 2017 to 30 million in 2022. I regard them as irrelevant as CNN and stopped listening to them about ten years ago.

Probably eight years ago I quit listening to NPR, I enjoyed the classical music and some of their sideline shows that were not political at all but just good entertainment.
I began to notice the condescending tone of voice and their indignant narcissism, It got to the point it became unbearable listening to their outlandish lies and twisting of contextual truth of what was actually said or done.
Their stench could be smelled through the airwaves, wouldn't catch me dead in a car wreck with my radio dial ever near that station. By the way, I'm not suicidal.

What an incredible number of words to just barely avoid saying “they are liars.” The entire official statement from NPR, particularly in the light of the irrefutable information in the report to which they’re responding, is a complete lie. From start to finish. I have to wonder, internally, does the editor-in-chief end the discussion by saying outright, “We’ll just lie.” “Make it eloquent though.”
