Instagram- AdamTheWooATW A fun day hanging out with UA-cam/CarolinaTony . Much appreciated him taking the wheel and driving around for this one . Go tell him I said hello
I really enjoy the videos when you're hanging out with Tony. He seems like such a down-to-earth feller and you and him mixed together very well. You don't over talk each other you guys are like a team. Great job
Mooresville used to be known as “Race City USA” many NASCAR teams have their race shops there. The shops used to be open to the public, but many have not reopened since Covid.
Looked like a fun day. Glad to see Carolina Tony hanging out with you again. Thank you for introducing us to him several weeks ago. Loved all the different murals and water towers. Also, that What-a-Burger looked so yummy!
The newer murals are awesome, they show how they were back in their hayday. But I think I like the faded ones the best because they are a monument of an era gone by. Great vlog Adam! Safe Travels!
I have to be honest I'm amazed there is so much vintage, murals and old timey things still around to enjoy, it's a good thing though they haven't been guess what I'm gonna say "erased from existence" Thankyou Adam and Tony
At 13:07 that is Ballard's Obelisk Flour on the far left. We saw one of those for the first time last week in Sasser, Georgia. A viewer commented that the company was started in Kentucky in 1880 and later bought by Pillsbury in 1951. I had never heard of Ballard's and now to see a mural advert twice in less than two weeks, so cool!
There was a place called WhataBurger across from the college I went to. They were priced for the student. A giant hamburger and half pound bag of fries was $4. A GIANT milkshake of any flavor was $2. It was a great place! It also had no affiliation with the Texas chain.
Really DOES set the day right by starting it with soOo much fun, adventure & good will when one chooses the Woo, BtF & friends 🌊🐬 Love it! you never disappoint, so glad we have you!
My dad and I use to stop at the What-A-Burger and eat there when I was a boy many years ago. It was almost a tradition to stop there when in the Concord area. We also use to eat at other local burger establishments such as "The Burger Shack" and "Dixie Burger" both still in business. Adam, there is another little restaurant that has been around for almost a century that operates out of an original country store called "Leflers" located in the little community of PeeDee in Montgomery Co., NC. They have great burgers and bar-b-cue and they use to give you a soda drink in the old glass bottles in lieu of a cup. The original general store is attached and has displays of old stuff, an old wood stove and basic supplies just like it did many years ago. Its a step back in time for sure and has great food! Its good to see these old traditional places still surviving today. They are much better than McDonalds, Burger King, etc. and supporting them helps the local community.
I was smiling because of the 7 to 8 guys watching their companions putting the transformator up, 7 people standing around talking to eachother from the same company... that would not happen in my country lol Thank you for that!
They work as a team, for safety reasons. The one in front of my home was replaced last year. It had been there since 1964, and contained PCBs, which required special handling to ensure the contaminated oil didn't spill as it was removed. Then, it went into a very thick plastic bag that was filled with adsorbent to contain any leaks. It was so old that they no longer rebuild that small style. It was to be decontaminated and recycled. R.I.P., old Pole Pig!
Lovely time here in smaller towns of North Carolina. Enjoyed this one. I’m so glad you appreciate authentic vintage signs and architecture. As you traverse these areas, your viewers will take stock of their own areas and perhaps be inspired to travel and document them. We never know when a sign, structure or town will be gone. Be Inspired - Enjoy them now.
You cannot beat the attractions, especially from days gone by, in these small towns. Those murals are just amazing. OOPS, $10... It's okay to "cheat" every once in awhile, and get some good, old fried foods. That way you're satisfied, and can move forward. You guys were cool together, Adam. safe travels 🤠👏🍟🍔🥤
Having grown up on What-A-Burger #13 in the town of Mount Pleasant that is still around, I hope you tried the Witchdoctor drink Adam. It’s one of a kind drink from WAB and will have you craving it again later on down the road.
Loving your backroad adventures. Especially liked the old Coca Cola murals and so forth. Love the old theater and still showing movies...cool ! Looked like a great hamburger...What-A-Burger. Sorry about your parking ticket. Be safe and well Mr. Adam. God's speed.
Love the Concord “What-A-Burger! It’s a small chain in that area…Mooresville has one. Haven’t been there for a few years…and I see now that you mentioned this info! 😄
Enjoyed Carolina Tony...and I'm now subbed to his channel. Always enjoy your videos especially with your parents. They are great people! Love the tours of your family history with them...
I am from Mooresville, NC. Dude, you missed so much in Mooresville. The historic cotton-mill (now an antique mall and eating establishments), NASCAR teams, NASCAR support systems, international electronics company, an original hardware store that is still in operation, Veteran coffee house, in-door go cart racing (former textile facility), huge out-door go cart facility, exotic animal ranch, etc. You should spend a day in Mooresville.
Yes! Turner's Hardware, The old Superba factory now go cart track, Lazy 5 and the Days of Thunder barn and Brat Pitt house/Harris Bros. Farm and more! I tried to message him when he put it out on Instagram but, I don't think he sees those and it's the only way other than her to try. You can't leave comments on his pics and the Facebook group I'm not sure he sees either?
Always great to see you and Carolina Tony exploring together💕 Had Doobie Brothers " China Grove" stuck in my head most of the episode. I know it's the wrong one, but still...🎶🎶
The Gem Theatre has the best popcorn!! What an experience to see a movie there!! Hope you get to swing through Lexington, we are just up the road. Interesting fact: a couple of locally owned restaurants in Lexington have a what-a-burger listed on the menu. Lol. Enjoyed the video!!!!❤️
I haven't had a Whataburger in years. I live in North Carolina, our Whataburger closed down back in the 70's in Belmont NC. I used to love them burgers so much !!!! 🍔❤️
This video was uploaded on my birthday, and I have a kind of unique situation on February 3rd. I was born that day in 1959, The Day the Music Died’. I love how Don McClean wrote such a great song in the 70’s to memorialize the events of that day. It was a very sad day, but I am pretty sure my parents were very happy!
Glad to see parts of Concord I haven't seen yet! This is a delightful vlog Adam! I do enjoy the small towns and bits of history that go with 'em! Carolina Tony is great too! Thank you
You were in our neighborhood! My husband and I grew up in Kannapolis and live in Concord. My brother lives in Rhode Island now and he SO misses What-A-Burger. Really enjoyed the video from out of town point of view. Enjoying this series! Thanks Adam
Omg , That theater was amazing!! I love the old ticket booth and marquee!! Such amazing history! Thanks for taking us along!! While I’m stuck at work lol , I’m a little envious
I was just at the What-A -Burger #2 picking up lunch 20 minutes ago. Sitting here eating my Ranch Burger, fries, and drinking my cherry lemon Sundrop and this video pops up in my recommended. Welcome to my home town.
Man alive! You're so close! Grew up in Enochville, lived in Kannapolis, now Mooresville! Love that What-A-Burger , just make sure you have cash lol, number 11 in Mooresville is the best , especially when Jane used to work there ,and the homes down union st. are beautiful! That courthouse is mainly a theater.. if they do anything else there I haven't seen it lol. There's another What-A-Burger in Kannapolis and Tampa Jay went there not too long ago. If you're still near Mooresville please let me know! I messaged you about the Days of Thunder barn and I am Ricky Bobby's crew in Talladega! Gem theater is haunted, too. :) They just renovated the GEM. I went to Corriher-Lipe and we were the first middle school from junior high and the last 6th graders from Enochville Elementary which sadly closed last June. That road beside Coleman's used to go through/over the tracks. I miss that lol. That F&M is great but, the ATM for it is up the street lol. Keith's has never had more than one car for sale all my life but remains! :) No one can tell me what DEI does but, Teresa still lives behind it and Jr. on Shinville! If you'd like to see the Days of Thunder barn and more please let me know!
I worked for Coke from 1967 til 1979. Hampton was well known in that era as their sign painter. If memory serves me, he signed many of his works as "Ole Hamp". Not sure of his proper given name, but was a legend in our area of N.C.
Adam- check out the small town called Love Valley. It looks like an old western town. The only way to drive is by horse through the downtown. Population Is less than a hundred people.
That's another cool place and they once had a Woodstock sized music festival there the owner created for his daughter's birthday. It's quite the story.
Watch out, Adam, if you parked six hours, they might've sent you to the big house! I was surprised to see a payphone still around. How I remember using them back in the good ol' days. Good video as always. We don't get too many of these small towns.
HOLY COW! My favorite UA-camr begins and ends this video in my home town, just up the road from my house! Wish I would have seen you, given you the Grand Tour!
A few insights about the Concord/Kannapolis/Mooresville area... As far as I know there are still six What-A-Burger restaurants open in the area out of at least fifteen...two in Concord two in Kannapolis one in Mooresville and one in Mount Pleasant If you are back in this neck of the woods check out Cabarrus Creamery on Union Street... best ice cream in town Also you should visit historic Gold Hill in Rowan County about 15 miles east of Kannapolis... Salisbury also has a lot of history, a nice downtown, and other things to see
The Man! Dale Earnhardt. This February 18th he will be gone 21 years. Racing was never the same. I was never able to watch again and I tried. RIP Intimidator!
Adam The woo. I have been watching you since Christmas break, and I'm really enjoying your videos!! I have noticed that you walk by fire hydrants, just a tip. Every hydrant is stamped with the year it was made. Something to look at, they are part of a towns history. Keep up the great work👍
I'm like you, as a good cup of coffee is so delicious. I'm sure he must have places that he enjoys more than others. There some restraunts that I've ordered coffee at, and wish that I hadn't.
I’m really enjoying this trek you’re on, Adam! I’ve come to love (and look for) the old CocaCola signage you manage to find as well. The What-a-burger seemed just a bit too small. They need to either buy smaller buns or make the burgers larger. It’s always sad when I lift the top bun and see a gap of ANY size between burger edge and bun edge. This one had quite a difference, sadly. I hope the flavor made up for it? (I must say you weren’t your usual delighted self when you took that first bite.). But, let’s all help to keep the local businesses going!! And Adam gets a parking ticket?? Say it ain’t so! That same thing happened to me in Maui. We were THREE MINUTES past time-up on the meter and the attendant must’ve been hiding behind a pillar!! Yet one way to keep the accounts full for them over there. But that’s ok - the beauty there was worth every cent! Looking forward to the next vlog and am off to check it out now! Be well, my friend and stay safe. ❤️ Really liked Carolina Tony and subscribed to his channel to do some binging! He’s got a great and easy way about him.
Adam very interesting town and I must say all the murals added a little something special to the town and being that the murals had the vintage look in my eyes made them more special also I must say it was such a treat to see most of that town if not all and I really enjoyed the retro look if that area
They like those old Coke murals up in North Carolina. In my home town Kings Mountain they have a series of historical murals that depict the history of the area. Days Of Thunder was filmed in Daytona Beach. Scenes from the Elvis movie Speedway were shot at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Thank you Adam and Tony. Great video.
I grew up in Concord and I live in Kannapolis now. There are at least 7 What-A-Burgers left. Sorry about that parking ticket, Concord police are like that lol.
Dang it! You were in Mooresville and I didn't see you! Cool to see you at our What-A-Burger, but had I known you were coming, I would have pointed out where scenes from Homeland and Shots Fired had been filmed. And, a Hidden Mickey in one of the murals you looked yet (yes, a legit Hidden Mickey, since the owners of that building are big Disney fans).
This just kills me man... THIS IS MY HOMETOWN! I've been watching Adam for a few years and I would've loved to meet up and even host you in my town and surrounding areas. I've been here nearly 45 years. Dang it!
Local here. There also is a What-a-Burger in Kannapolis. The theater in China Grove closed in the late 50's or very early 60's. I enjoy all of your videos.
Long time ATW fan here before you started getting banned at Disney. I’m enjoying this North Carolina series. I grew up less than a mile from the mural in Concord, and frequented the Gem Theatre in Kannapolis. I also ate at the What-a-burger a ton as a kid in Mooresville. It was right across the train tracks from a slot car track. I also took several Amtraks from Kannapolis growing up. Love Valley was a fun place to check out before things started closing as well.
Wow Adam you were very close to my hometown of Statesville which is just a few miles north of Mooresville and the restaurant is very popular and that burger looks so delicious continue to have fun on your journeys brother
I definitely didn’t think I’d see Concord in today’s video! It’s such a great place. It would be amazing to see you here in Greenville SC sometime too. Really loving the new direction of the channel. Keep it up!
There is actually another What-a-Burger in Mt. Pleasant, NC. just down the road from Concord on NC Hwy 73 going toward Albemarle, NC. It's my favorite stop! But you should have gotten a Witch Dr. to drink to complete the experience!

loved seeing you meet up with Carolina Tony
Love when you two team up! Y'all should drive on down to York SC soon!!
I really enjoy the videos when you're hanging out with Tony. He seems like such a down-to-earth feller and you and him mixed together very well. You don't over talk each other you guys are like a team. Great job
This is a lovely room of death!
Thank You for visiting North Carolina. That'll be $10 Dollars !!

Good to see people going to places outside Charlotte. NC is SO different outside of the big cities.
I have to be honest I'm amazed there is so much vintage, murals and old timey things still around to enjoy, it's a good thing though they haven't been guess what I'm gonna say "erased from existence" Thankyou Adam and Tony
As a Brit I am fascinated by old Americana. There is just an over whelming amount to see. Another great video Adam.
I so enjoy this trip more than any other disney video. Great job Adam!
Really enjoying these small town tours. So many murals, neon signs, vintage advertisements. The nerd in me is happy!

Good eye on the vacant theatre Adam...it was the "Grove", opened in 1938, closed in 1955.
Happy to see Tony again!! This was such a fun adventure!! I am enjoying Tony's channel!! Thank you Adam!!

Love small town life. My joy is visiting a small town on a Sat. day trip.
You always do fun things at a fun pace.

Thank you for showing off the Kannaplos area, Adam. I remember when Dale died in 2001 we drove up from SC to DEI (Dale Earnhart Incorporated). So sad.
Love it when you and the locals interact. . .
Having grown up on What-A-Burger #13 in the town of Mount Pleasant that is still around, I hope you tried the Witchdoctor drink Adam. It’s one of a kind drink from WAB and will have you craving it again later on down the road.

While you’re in North Carolina come up 85 and visit Lexington, best Western Style BBQ you’ll find in the piedmont. Thanks for showing off our state!

I thought it was a snake but it was a stick! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you crack me up Adam, you and your random statements!
Hey Carolina Tony is back! Good to see you 2 together again. Enjoyed the video both of you!
I grew up in Concord and I live in Kannapolis now.
There are at least 7 What-A-Burgers left.
Sorry about that parking ticket, Concord police are like that lol.
Hey Adam! What’s really cool about your trip is all these neat small towns you’ve been hitting. Have a great day and stay safe!
Nice variety of small town goodness. Those murals are so well preserved.
They really well . I was impressed
Two of my favorites- Carolina Tony and Adam the Woo! Nice!
Dang it!
So cool to see you in my area after all these years of watching you!
Another great vlog. Thank you for taking us around these small town.
Lol you too funny that was pine straw in that truck going by 😂
Adam!! I can’t believe you visited Mooresville!! I hope you loved this beautiful home town of mine! That’s so damn awesome!!!!
Thank you Adam!! Dale Earnhardt is my sports hero. Very cool seeing these places. Always wanted to go, so thank you for taking us there.
Love Valley was a fun place to check out before things started closing as well.
hi adam and carolina tony , another cool explore , well done guys and thank you 😊
Oh Mr. MacWoo you've done it again, another fine vlog of small town USA. Thanks
Interesting the burger wrapper had that retro vibe to match the whole place!....
It really did . Loved it
It's the little things, isn't it?
