@@6thGearGarage It's possible that your compressor is just old too or the charge is too low. For the original conversion, the R12 would've been vacuumed out, the dryer replaced, the old mineral oil removed for Ester or PAG oil. Mineral Oil, and its remnants, do not mix with R134a like Ester or PAG does, and could prevent proper lubrication with the compressor. Over time, seals can degrade caused reduced performance.

Holy crap, that’s like $324.98 worth of ice cubes right there! ;-) Honestly, I would have bought the trays as well. In all seriousness, if you were wheeling all day, that might be kinda useful.
6th Gear Garage Ha! Ha! It probably would have helped! My Aunt had one of the vans with that option. I remember them using it to keep soda cool for trips, I don’t remember the ice maker. Sadly, it was that overloaded 3.0 with zero cooling. So the van ended up with the inevitable head gasket failure.
6th Gear Garage Yea, the bonus on theirs was it was one of 4x4 ones. It was funny to see a van with hubs. Zero accessibility to the engine though. I can remember them pulling the driver seat out to check the oil. Not really well thought out.... Super cool though.

The air blows cold but it was converted from r12 to r134a before I bought it

Awesome video. Thx for sharing. Quick question: what brand/model stereo system do you have in your 80 series? It looks hi tech.
Thanks! It's a Pioneer AVH-210EX. It was already installed when I bought it. It has just enough tech, yet is still simple to use.
@@6thGearGarage Thx for this info. Looking to upgrade. Enjoyed the video too.
What's the part number on the white drip tray and the ice cube tray door with the writing on it ?
I only know the 5 digit #'s from an old diagram I have saved. 88522 for the sliding cover and 88529 for the tray on the bottom.
Been chasing these trays for ever! Who did you order them through?
I got them from Rocky Mountain Imports in Canada. I recommend them to everyone - great customer service!
My dad has a car like you and is also JDM which means it has an Ice cube maker
The one I have has same set up with fridge but doesn’t get cold, only warm air. Do you know if it’s a common problem and what it could be
How cold is your vehicle's air conditioning? The console and AC run off of the same compressor & refrigerant.
@@6thGearGarage it’s weird because it blows cold air for ac but warm for the fridge area console

You will have to sell and send me the trays to australia then
Hello, what is the withe tray for? The one on the bottom of the fridge! Thanks
The tray is just a pad on the bottom for a softer base and it has indentations for stacking small cans.
G'day mate, did you install the fridge in the 80? I've got a few questions. On the AC lines under the car. Cheers Dave

If your vehicle doesn't have an ice maker..... Are you even a baller??
Would that fit in an 86 4Runner in place of its console?
I doubt it, also you’d have to run the ac lines to it to have it be functional. There are aftermarket ones that are self contained I think.
would you consider sending to get 3d printed? i would buy a set
I’m not sure the plastic would be the correct type to hold drinking water and be consumed as ice. The trays are somewhat flexible as well.
@@6thGearGarage ahh ok, getting these are near impossible.
@@MadCrix Maybe there's a generic small tray that will fit? Mine are 1" tall, 3.75" wide x 4.125" deep (including pull handle)
