Is anyone else like this ? When I start an antidepressant because it seems to help with energy first it makes my anxiety worse at the beginning and it’s hard to survive that until it starts helping with anxiety.
I think you need to add another medication with Zoloft ( under doctor supervision ) to cover Zoloft side effects . If you face severe side effects you need to discuss this with your doctor . All the best
I’m considering taking this medication. Being on a benzo for a very, very, very very long time. Something needs to change as well. Thank you for making this video.
You're very brave and its admirable to see you share this very personal experience with us. I'm loosing my transplanted kidney after being on dialysis for over 7 years. The amount of stress, anxiety and misery I've been through is too much. Now I'm facing the fact that I'll need another transplant. In my area the southeast, its the worst for finding a cadaver kidney. So basically, unless I get a living donor I'll be faced with going back on dialysis. I cannot handle doing that again so I'll be gone when this kidney finally fails. With all this going on, I've decided not to go on Zoloft. I'm opting for CBD oil and I'm hoping I've made the right choice.
You're so young! I can't imagine how much better my life could have been if I'd gotten help for anxiety/depression when I was your age. I'm 31 now and I've only been able to talk to a doctor about my problems this week so really hoping I can get to a better place with medication and therapy. I hesitate to say get 'back to my old self' because I've struggled for so long I don't really have an 'old self', anxiety is all I've ever known :/
Thank you so much for sharing. My granddaughter Began getting Anxious at the beginning of high school. takes Zoloft, and it really helps her. She is now 22yrs and seems to be slowly becoming less anxious with age. I developed General Anxiety Disorder at 76 yrs, (one year into pandemic). but was not diagnosed until 78. I have tried several other routes (GABA CBD L-theimine and such) and they helped to some degree to take the edge off, but I rarely have a clear day. Like you I tend to catastrophize, can't stop thinking. people who have not experienced it have not the slightest idea what its like. How many times I have been told to "just think of something else" even by physicians.
One thing that isn't totally true is that your primary care physician is fully capable of starting you on any med. They usually refer you out if your symptoms are too severe or the meds they try with you don't help you. The reason there is a preconceived idea of psychologists being the ones to prescribe is because a lot of primary care physicians push those patients over to the specialist even though they can handle it. You should totally see a therapist as that's really different from psychologists but your primary can totally manage most diagnosed issues. My primary started me on zoloft 2 weeks ago. My aunt died of a heart attack and for some reason that's hit harder than expected and I feel like I'll just be gone. Idk how else to explain it. Anyways, he said we'll see how this goes and tey something else if it doesn't seem to work, he did give a timeline of 6 months to a year then he'd refer me out if I needed more help.
@@tianamarie989Hi, Thanks for sharing… How are you going with Zoloft? Is it helping you with anxiety & Depression? I’m considering it taking it as I have severe anxiety & depression
It does help. I've been on and off it for years and literally a few days after coming off it I can notice my anxiety and irritability coming back, it's crazy. I always get insomnia for the first couple of weeks of taking it and I have also experienced the sexual side effects too which are pretty harsh if you experience them.
My daughter and I both had bad reactions to Zoloft. It caused impulse control issues, which resulted in different problems for each of us. The one bad impulse control issue both of us shared is shopping addiction, and we both racked up thousands of dollars' worth of out-of-control spending. We both have done much better on Guanfacine/Clonidine to treat anxiety with zero side effects. Everyone is different, so what works for one person might not work for another. I highly recommend having a doctor who is willing to think outside the box, treats each patient as an individual, and will take the time to try various medication options in order to find what works best with the fewest amount of side effects.
I'm sorry you had such a negative experience. I completely agree with you that everyone is so different and having a doctor that treats you as in individual is so important. Glad you were able to find another medication that works a lot better for you!
@@bruh-bm1he SSRI medications cause impulsive/compulsive activity that's unpredictable and uncontrollable at times. It's not a matter of overspending. @@sophiestanza I do not take any adhd meds so I can't weigh in the experience of taking both zoloft & adhd meds. I'd recommend definitely looking up people's experiences on both at the same time. Drugs.com is really helpful because there are so many personal reviews of people taking whichever medication you search on the website. Reddit was also helpful, and I would google for example: zoloft for anxiety reddit, and a bunch of results would pop up with people's personal expierence. You can google that as niche as you need to. As for zoloft itself- obviously my experience won't be the same for everyone, but something that may be helpful is to remember all you have to do is try it. As long as it's been approved by your doctor, and there are no known drug interactions, all you can do is try. But definitely research it and you aren't wrong to be nervous about adding another med with potential side effects. I just started Zoloft this week. I was afraid to gain weight too so I consulted my doc about it. You are in no position to recommend therapy. Why identify with “your” anxiety? These are classic symptoms of malnourishment. I had them too. Are you consuming any amount of processed food? Are you consuming any amount of salt? You shouldn’t be. Are you consuming lots of fresh fruit? You should be. If you are getting these absolute basics wrong, be honest with yourself and admit that you are choosing the easy path of depending on toxic, harmful drugs for the illusion of feeling better. Your body is trying to alert you that something is wrong. Listen, don’t suppress it!
