"I never really thought of myself as depressed as much as paralyzed by hope."
Genius.
“A hack”? You wouldn’t recognize sharp and edgy comedy if it bit you on your pecker.
Yep, I’ve loved “The Bammer” for years.
@J G She's performed lots of new material since this was filmed. She's been one of the best for over a decade, a sentiment with which most comedians would agree as well.
“Ya gotta be able to laugh or you’re better off deeeead!” - Roger Rabbit to Eddie Valiant in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
he's fantastic at improv. I love the line about the water, it even made her laugh!
Lol omg yea I like that character too
"The reason we can laugh together is because we have freedom in this country."
Priceless..............
a very urgent philosophy, now more than ever before in my lifetime.. ✌😷
I know that youtube comments really tend to go over the top with praise but this was the single best 8 minutes 17 seconds ever recorded in any context
She is so good
Inclined to agree, man
Omg after 20 years I finally can put a face to my childhood crush. I used to have the biggest crush on Laura on this show back in the 90s.
Omgosh she was the original April from Patks & Rec!
I've always thought doughnut was a boy's name. My name is Doug, and that's halfway there.
you will not believe this, mate.. my co-worker's name is Hnut! she's originally from Iceland and not a likable person at all, but together the 2 of you make 1 crazy DoughNut! ✌😷
she does a better "normal person" voice than just about anyone
Its kinda like Tim Burton's take on the suburbs in Edward Scissorhands. Its like, startling realism.
"We could go to QuiZNos!" I love Maria so much. She just keeps going and going!
You're not crazy Maria, it's the rest of the world. We're talkin soup sandwich.
A mother knows.... a mother knows.
The animated series was a favorite of mine. What a pleasant surprise to find out the cast is doing the same premise live.
I was addicted to the original series. Are they currently doing a live action version??
this is the live action version....?
Colton Moore Bahahaha
Yes, the animated “Dr. Katz” program was must see TV. Wonderful guest comics and funny “B” stories involving the doc, his receptionist Laura, and his shiftless son Ben. Plus the “Squigglevision” format made me laugh too.
The woman's a genius. I love the recently discovered "surreal and awkward" style of comedy. This stuff makes me laugh for reasons I cannot explain at all.
Watching in 2020. Timeless.
OmG she is so brilliant and hilarious. How can Katz sit there and not laugh? That's dedication to the sketch. I want to give her a hug.
hes the best
He cracks at 4:09
I never thought it odd to call my counselor to let him know i was there, but now i see i can probably just go in. Going to try that next time. Thank you Maria and Dr. Katz.
"Not depressed, just paralyzed by hope...' Brilliant!
And we know where Kristen Wiig created Target Lady.
... just the Fact that this Exists...
"kickin'it" is not a word
Maria Bamford is genius !!!! can´t believe I just discovered ! Live Dr. Katz is a treat !
OH, THIS IS SOLID GOLD
"I don't believe in God, sitting up there making decisions like I'm gonna put you in a paralyzing diving accident so you can inspire people by painting water colors with your feet." Maria Bamford is my favorite comedian male or female. I can't explain what exactly it is about her comedy that makes me laugh so much, but l think that she's absolutely hilarious. And l don't tire of it after having heard her routines multiple times.
I liked this even before I started watching it. I miss this show so much.
I love everything about the show. Takes me back. Still watch it all the time, and never gets old.
Her brain runs circles, cartwheels and backflips around mine.
She's such an underappreciated comedian in my opinion. Loved her Netflix show.
Maria's always great.
Bamford is so under rated
Holy shit its the real Doctor! I wish they would bring this back.
i guess after leaving dr katz and home movies playlists on while i sleep for a few years youtube finally decided to recommend me these live skits, brill how i can enjoy new katz again :)
"What the hell is wrong with you? Your skins moving all over the place"
"I believe Im having some kind of seizure"
-Great family guy reference to dr.katz
Like that's what I want to be, "WE CAN GO TO QUIZNO'S!!" yeeeeees 😂😂😂😂😂
I will never tire of this.
not so much "depressed" as "paralyzed with hope"
We could go to Quizno's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Uhhhhhhh, I'm done! I finished early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE MARIA!!!! I wonder what's in store for us in September 2016.....Already got my front row seats for her show in Denver, CO
She was made for this show.
I think I remember her - she called me one evening when I was on the crisis hotline.
This crowd missed so much. Ha.. Maria is brilliant.
a live version of the show, that would have been great to be there. and laura looks pretty
I
master and defeat death
"But can you really get enough water?"
I would love to have seen these. Especially with Paul F. Tomkins.
Not thinking of herself as depressed, but paralyzed by hope, is one of the funniest lines I've ever heard!!!!
Maria Bamford is so cute! So is Laura...
Beautifull comedy
wow DR. Katz! nd yup Maria Bamford amazing.
A beautiful, funny and talented woman. Jonathon Katz is among my favorite entertainers, as well. Thank You
"weee could go to quiznooos" - ha I was done! 5:16
awesome! this is incredible-- such a big fan of Dr. Katz!
Maria said "I finished early". She "Petered Out", which actually means to finish a days work early and not, as popularly used, to run out of steam before the end of the day.
Genius.
Please tell me there are 87 of these? This is great! I love Laura. :)
She has a new show coming to Netflix called Lady Dynamite!
I watched it and its brilliant. Reminds me of the movie ''Welcome to me''.
And its amazing
I love love love Maria Bamford.
BAM!
Frighteningly accurate
The Golden Hen .
AWESOME!!!! Bammer.
always loved dr. katz
She is great!
Maria cracked Katz!!!!
wow, she is good
She didn’t get to the “so anyways, cash or credit” punchline to the arch nemesis in Target joke. So good.
This woman is incredible
Wow! And she can sing, too!
I'm picturing Harvey Korman as the doctor. . .
God love Maria!
I'm here twelve years late, what's up friends
7:18 That's me with my therapist
She's adorable and hilarious. I just wish we could see her in squiggle vision.
Jane with her little spider eyes!
Laura with a cellphone just makes sense. She can ignore you while texting now
W H E R E I S B E N ? awesome upload ! Dr. Katz was one of my favorite shows !
Ben is over working out in the...DANGER ZONE!
+Geoffrey Zoref oooh yeeaaahh!!
+Geoffrey Zoref Are we still doing phrasing?
Could’ve heard 30 more minutes of that
Katzenbammer
Dr Katz can't keep up, Maria is such a great improve. I saw her in San Francisco doing improve for SF Sketchfest.
This is crazy...live action Dr. Katz...
Is there more videos like this???
Would love for HBO to pick this up for a new series. Most times when a animated series don't work as non-animated movies.
Favorite female comedian of all time🧠💥🧠💥
5:00 Hot Dog Princess! :D
Why didn't they ever make this into a live-action sitcom, instead of all this other CRAP on TV?!
Dave Davidson I thought this was done years ago then just found out he still does this live (he was at the Just For Laughs festival). He really needs better promotion and more of an online presence.
iSOBigD Really! Wow, yes he does! Would love to see this live.
...and it was all yellow.
I'm getting strong Jim Boeheim vibes
Dr. Katz looks so uncomfortable, like he can't get a word in edgewise... but that's okay because he talks so slowly and Maria's so much more interesting. hahaha
unfortunately Jonathan Katz has Multiple Sclerosis which affects the nervous system and thus one's ability to communicate, fortunately it pairs perfectly with this scenario. i love that man!
I am so sorry to hear Mr. Katz has MS. That's a nasty disease. Is he able to work?🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱
@@MrVehicularmanslaugh that's what made the part at 4:09, where he kind of 'breaks' so damn amazing. Coupled with her inward eye roll, immediately preceding his straight-man-hiatus
When did THIS happen?!
hahahah
Excellent
Kinda miss the illustrative
cut aways but you can’t have everything in reality, can ya?
It’s all in the mind...
Hank Wedel Music I loved the tranquil hilarity of the animated show because there was no waiting for some audience's laughter to die...I do prefer that, for many shows.
was the placement of his cane ever addressed?
She's doing a wonderful neurotic.
That's an act... right?
Doughnut seems like a masculine name to me.
i would like to watch the whole show through, but unfortunately it starts with Kathy Griffin and Andy Kindler, so I have to start with this video.
you wish you could handle being kindlered!
Laura Silverman drives me nuts.
Very funny stuff. I would have loved seeing this in person.

Maria's ok. My only problem with her is that she might be too funny. :P
Why go to (soprano)Quiznos(/soprano) when you can go to (basso)Subway?(/basso)
I wonder if she was supposed to dominate like that. This is the first one I've seen.
Joan Rivers, Roseanne and Maria "BAMBAM" Bamford. the diva, the trash and the crazy. thé 3 legendary ladies of comedy, imo.
Grab the nipple, twist, pain ensues.
Dr Katz is in over his head. She’s just too quick.
I realize this is a live performance and I want to enjoy this so much, but the audience reactions just ruin it. I can't deal with that. I wish they'd film the rehearsal or something. I love Jonathan Katz, I love Maria Bamford, and I love Laura Silverman, but I cannot bring myself to watch this.
