- We hiked the Alum Cave trail to Leconte Lodge to stay 2 nights and it was absolutely amazing! The mountain sunrises and sunsets from mt Leconte were breathtaking the primitive lodge itself was full of history, fun, and relaxation! Definitely one of the best things to do in the Smoky Mountains and on of the best things to do in Gatlinburg, Tennessee! This is the highest elevated lodge in the Eastern United States!!

Staying at Mt LeConte is on the bucket list, but alas same I never reserve in time...I have made the run to the lodge for the day, ate lunch and run back on several occasions but have yet to stay! Totally jealous 😁

I’m hoping my wife and I are able to spend our 7th anniversary up there! I’ve been once as a child, but my wife has never been. I really enjoyed watching your video. I highly suggest trying to take the Boulevard Trail up if you’re able to go again. A majority of the trail is along a ridge line, offering great views with uphill and downhill hiking opportunities.

No electricity, internet or bathroom in the cabin? Ouch. Of course it's much nicer than a tent and I guess that's the mindset to have. Definitely a beautiful place.
I mean it is a primitive stay at a spot that you can only hike to so really I wouldn’t expect it to have those things!🤷🏻♂️ It is really for the nature and historical aspect and if you go for that, it’s incredible!! Thanks for watching! We hope you enjoyed it!😊
Is there a way to ride up on horseback or a Llama?
Is there big drop offs on the trail? Would it be ok to do with a 6 year old and 10 year olds?
There are a few drop offs on the second half of the trail after the large bluffs. They do have cables that run along those parts to hang on to as you walk. As long as is isn’t icy it would probably be ok! We have seen kids make the hike so it is definitely possible! Just keep them close! Let us know if you have any other questions!
