If you're like me, then anything resembling a guitar will be of interest to you. This cute looking Fender Mandolin, finished in a gorgeous three tone sunburst, looks good enough to eat. Armed with my guitar playing knowledge, I was quickly able to start picking out familiar melodies, from Maggie May to old favourites by Jethro Tull where the Mandolin is often featured.
This slim A styled instrument has a four-ply bound laminated Spruce top with neatly cut F holes and Nato back and sides. Nato is also the wood of choice for the neck, topped with a bound Rosewood fingerboard carrying 21 frets and plain white dot markers. The headstock is home to eight (four a side) white buttoned machine heads and the Fender logo.
The single coil pickup is mounted on a three ply scratch plate and is controlled via individual tone and volume pots. The strings pass over a compensated height adjustable Ebony bridge and terminate at the chrome tailpiece. That's an impressive spec list for such a modestly priced instrument. If you play Mandolin you'll love it, if you play guitar you're already more than halfway to mastering it. Great fun...

the strings to electro mandolin need to be strings for electric or just simple mandolin strings?

olyryu2 Normal mandolin strings are steel so they'd be fine.
      The pickup works by magnetism.

I think standard mandolin strings nowadays are phosphor-bronze don't they? Without steel, so they're not good. But you can get nickel strings, those are specifically for mandos with pickups.

I think I've seen this same model under a few different, cheaper names. 'Freedom', 'Bryden' and 'Aria' spring to mind.

that's the point and appeal of mandolins with coil pickups like this though. For the more traditional sound probably best to use microphones.

The Chinese cheap bandolin, it exist with many different name of cheap brands as Stagg, Aria, Harley Benton, Ibanez, Fender etc etc etc
And it's exacly the same instrument, sometimes the head recives a different shape but the other parts still the same.
Got the same one in the Fender brand, and mine got the same horrible sound while plugged as yours.
Acoustic that's ok, but plugged 🤢🤮
I'm gone try to change the pickup.
Still a good instrument enought for those who just want to play some songs with it and practice.
