Opening the Door of the Heart: Adyashanti and Edward Frenkel

- Two passionate lovers of truth and wonder, a spiritual teacher and a mathematician, exchange stories of the path to awakening, and discuss the psychological nature of the rediscovery of the experience of being. For many of us it's natural to start on the intellectual plane and to use the power of the scientific, rational mind to surmise the reality of those dimensions. But at some point we move beyond the mind and hear a call from the heart.

I'm always impressed with Adya's patience.
@@PauloConstantino167I didn't perceive her comment as stupid. How come you did?
I love the beginning! Both men! This love for what you do, this wonderment! This connection. Being 78 now and fear this pain Edward talks about. You, Edward are lucky to find it now and to see this enthusiasm of you.
Coming across this conversation is like finding a rare gem- beautiful, touching, inspiring....Thank you!
Wonder-ful! Exquisite freedom. From E.M. Forester's novel, Howards' End: "Only connect!" For a mathematics professor, Edward Frenkel is eloquent and poetic.
This made me remember and dig up a small piece of text I wrote after connecting with this in myself:
Become conscious of all the ways you are unconscious. Begin seeing the way you have ended up distancing yourself from life, in an attempt to fill the cracks from that initial splinter that seemed to lodge itself in your heart from the time around your first memories - Widened by every hit of the hammer of others silencing that preciousness, that innocence in them. Make your way back, to the very moment of every inner defeat suffered in silence and listen for the voice of your heart. Then, see where that takes you, whatever may come.
So wonderful!!!

Thank you so much for this
The video should actually be called: Edward Frenkel's Life Story
so interesting from 26.00 great subject about dissociation, went through same experience, as child i split myself. when i connected i felt so much pain in the heart, but also finally found connection with life. the fog disappeared in my head and could feel it was at the left, liking a floating body, and i felt finally clarity in my head. i also never knew this was going on, only in art therapy where i made drawning when i was child and therapist went deeper, i found out i was suddenly six and got very dizzy. i never understood in my life what was going on, because i thought my childhood was allright, nothing really bad. you need to feel it. and everyone has their own timing, their own season, when you are ready it will come to you, don't force it. take your time and don't rush. my life finally got more connected, 30 now. i get some glimpses of the clarity/connection with earth. i hope i will receive many more, to be totally alive and feel loved.
A poem I wrote some time ago , revelation to a young unhappy adult always seeking.
'Beneath the tapestry
in silent trance
is the heart beneath the heart
that must bow to the dance.'
Beautiful
thats nice
Wow! That is beautiful!!
Brook Storm write a book it was so beautiful
I really like this:)
That Ego really had the stage ☺️
Edward Frenkel just wants to talk about his life and not listen.. But its funny how Adya said at the end that some people need to understand that spiritual teachers aren't therapists, I think he was insinuating this to Edward :D
“... at some point we move beyond the mind & hear a call from the heart.” Wow, so beautiful a description of awakening. (Found at bottom of video description.)
Thanks to you both. ~*~
A very interesting talk. It shows that we humans are not all born equal. Some come into this world as little angels, children of light, who do not recognise this world as their domain. No human love and care can ever fulfil their need and they will only find peace in their heart when they realise their true and perfect nature, after much suffering. Other little ones coming into this world clearly come into their own domain. They are the children of this world. They strongly believe they can’t find peace and satisfaction in this world. Edward clearly is one of those little angels, a child of the light.
Thank you, may we all remember there is only the light. I love you as you are, brother. It takes time to see in the dark or intensity. Thank you again, you are wonderful.
Right on - this conversation hit home on so many levels. Thanks for sharing it.
So beautiful and honest. Thank you very much, this is very helpful for me.
Thanks for sharing. That was a good talk
Brilliant thank you
Thank you for this talk.
I am surprised that Adya was able to say few sentences as the host kept on interrupting him all the time. I feel that Adya didn’t get to finish a lot of his ideas. I guess some time the host just like to hear themself talking way too much….
Adya loves everything it's incredible
Thank you 🦋
Edward points to psychological purification, so the mind and body are healed. From this place of health, Adya’s teaching can be more easily access, directly realized. Perhaps this is the “preparation” part of the journey.
This is an amazing conversation
Yes great talk, however it’s always interesting to see the patience and quiet of the spiritual teacher vs. the interruptions of the ego trained mathematician. It’s refreshing to see that type eager to seek beyond- Great talk though.
“Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying"this is the way; walk in it."---ISAIAH
Pain is not my enemy, it is my friend if I have ears to hear and eyes to see. ❤
Wow
Edward basically discovered psychoanalysis after more than a hundred years.
Intriguing Adya ❤ Edward 🌼
love

The ego gets excited.....the child already knows what they are!
is it just me or edward didnt even listen to him continuing always with his story
trimatije very much so. I did my best to try and not judge Edward for not really listening. He was mostly “waiting to speak” - which is unfortunately the dynamic in most conversations
@@ryno9181 It's always hard to watch when someone just mows through the other speaker because they just can't wait to talk anymore.
50:50 ''Im sorry to put you on the spot'' We know, Edward XD
Fear is a wake-up call, perhaps, yes?
I hate to say but interviewer still suffers from restlessness and may be anxiety. He wouldn't let adya talk.
He is so silly. Lol What’s the point of having Adyashanti over? He kept speaking over him and cutting him off. He would have really gained some insight he let adya speak. Lol
my goodness, let Adya speak a little..
Exactly what I thought as well, this Edward guy sure likes the sound of his own voice. I’m guessing he was high on anxiety from being on the stage, if he actually ever listened to adya, maybe he could have kept his composure.
I'm watching this and thinking Dr. Frenkel may like to have a therapist to talk with about himself.
I thought that too. Then, thanks to you guys, i thought: when I think that, i m listening to the sound of my mind. Exactly like Edward, plus some blame. Then i saw i was blaming you guys. Ripples of blame thoughts. And that's ok. It is part of reality. Thanks again guys.
Hahaha yes!
It's a good example of enlightenment vs. the less refined state of mind. I sure am no expert nor certain about Adya's enlightenment but it seems so. Edward's in the midst of healing.
So some cultures have no energy, that is because the truely human vitality is sealed inside.
Blimey. The Tortoise and the Hare.
Why isn't Xavier credited anywhere?
Dr. Frenkel has had an opening that has clearly escaped most of the people who have replied. Possibly even Adya!
nahhh...
This is not evenly matched. I’m being kind
Reality always wins, but only 100% of the time.
I feel that Frenkel is more in touch with his true nature than Adyashanta!!
so heady and wordy is not a teacher for me.......he seems insane actually
