    I’ll be honest. Not five second in and a thumbnail of another video demanded I leave and pay it homage. I’m happy I didn’t do that. In all my years of life, only one claymation film has entertained me so - that being Chicken Run of my childhood years. Yet, I was young, then. Impressionable and quite childish. Now, in my adulthood, Hollywood fails to entertain me, much less even command my passing interest. They’ve done everything in their power to gain profit and, in doing so, done everything to make me see that they lack for passion.
    The Dead Need No Chairs lacks for profit, surely, as it is a film given unto us via UA-cam. This film you’ve made will never lack for passion. Never. I know it as Baldur the Sunblade knows he will never rest until he has put his brothers and sisters to rest. You didn’t just do right. You didn’t just do good. All of that can be found elsewhere, as well.
    You did great. I mean this with all the honesty my life can afford me in this moment. Thank you for making life better than I expected it to be.
    “The Dead Need No Chairs” stands alone as Baldur now does, but it stands greatly as I know Baldur will, even if Time or Tragedy come calling for him.
    Once again, thank you.

      Thank you for the equally great comment! Truth be told, I got goosebumps reading it.
      I'll pin it for a while, even though it consists of minor spoilers. This can create more curiosity in a potential audience that might otherwise skip it, as you might have done.

    The Warhammer influence, the clumsy yet effective English, the sheer carnage of the fights, and the obvious passion in all of this....
    I loved it.

    • @claymationbykonrad
      @claymationbykonrad  2 дні тому

      I'm not a Warhammer fan, more like a medieval enthusiast but nvm.
      I think if I had used my native language, the movie would have garnered 10 times less views. Since I saw a request for an English voice over, I decided to take that risky route.
      Glad you like it! And thank you for the comment.

    BROTHER this is AMAZING! This creativity alone just smacks me back into the Golden Age of UA-cam... when you would discover some top-tier animation or short film made by people with raw talents. As a medieval enthusiast and game developer, there was also so much dopamine for me from the accurate sound effects, the creatures and characters, the obviously top notch animations, to the smooth display of realistic HEMA move-sets like feints and calculated jabs. You have pulled off a masterpiece. And giving us the satisfaction of an entire HOUR... OH BOY. I can't say enough good things. You have managed to awaken so many positive feelings in my brain.
    Thank you!!! :D

      I did all I could in terms of promotion. The movie is just not good enough And more importantly - not for everyone, the beginning is too long, the voiceover is not for everyone and has many flaws even if you consider is as a style. And the thumbnail sucks. I made a few tests and every frame I pick is not very engaging.
      Thank you, though. Comments from people like you give me inspiration!

    I just saw the movie "News of the World" yesterday. The director also directed Jason Bourne so it's most professionnal. Same goes with actors, having Tom Hanks has main character. The movie is longer and have more scenes developing them.
    Yet, I found myself more emotionally involved for ugly clay charaters voice acted by few people with a movie lasting less than one hour.
    Also bringing all that the audience requires : alcoohol, violence, faith and naked women.
    More seriously, the attention to the combat animations is way above nowdays nowdays fantasy standards and I think you would deserve a place at Cannes festival.
    My best regards.

      Thank you, I'm not even sure how to respond on such a high commendation.😳 This is really flattering.
      Truth be told, I wanted to develop some of the characters a bit more, but decided against it due to impatience and possibility of losing the movie's integrity. Every character was voiced by me btw, and I find it a bit amusing myself.
      Hope not to disappoint with my potential future projects, sir!

      @claymationbykonrad  6 днів тому +1

      I believe you 100% in this.
      This technique has one big advantage - it is very understandable and "grounded", you don't need to finish collage to actually do this. And there are plenty really good lessons on YT. Just apply your(or mine, or Vordum's) style on them. Don't make "funny" big heads and ridiculously large arms etc. Watch lots of Dequitem / Buhurts / HEMA(although I have some exp in this) and think about the plot, imagine some scenes. Write a script. Learn how to use editing soft. Listen to the sounds around. Think on how you move, how objects around you move, how other people move and so on..

    Это шикарно!
    Как человек, который делал 5-ти минутный пластилиновый мультфильм в школьные годы, я ужасаюсь от одной мысли о том сколько времени заняла съёмка.

    • @claymationbykonrad
      @claymationbykonrad  5 днів тому +1

      Спасибо. Да, это долго, но интересно.)
      Про стулья ответ:
      Старик сказал, что предложил бы героям присесть, но снёс стулья в подвал, а там мёртвые. Герои отправились в подвал и мёртвых стало ещё больше.
      Ещё в сцене перед финалом все, кто "умер"(кроме носильщиков) - стоят, а все "живые" сидят. Анна "умерла", т.к. потеряла любоф, Астрид буквально воскресла из мёртвых, а Йозеф заражён и скоро помрёт и превратится в тварь. В самом финале Бальдур также бьёт по стулу, который мелькает в каждой сцене, после "дома зла" рассекая червя. Это мб глупые отсылки внутри самого произведения, но мне показалось прикольным.

    And good job with all the subtitles, must've been tedious, but I image it was nothing compared to the magnitude of work that went into this!
    And dont get me started on all the move sets and chorography, feels right out of the historical longsword books! (Just look at those Ox Guards!)
    And that handgonne! Chefs kiss! The satisfaction and love, pouring out of this movie has been matched by very few things in the world of stop motion!

    I like the story in general, but I particularly like the figures. They are simple clay yet very expressive and soulful. They remind me of the original King Kong, which I think is still the best. Peter Jackson had a huge budget and the latest software but could not top the vibe of the original. This animation shares that vibe, and it transcends the cuteness of clay to portray a dark and desperate fantasy. Отлично! Браво!

      Для некоторых людей(меня) этому проще научиться и требует меньше вложений, чем 3d.
      Плюс я лично люблю пластилин, лепку и фигурки.)
      А так, некоторые крупные студии ещё выпускают покадровые фильмы. Laika, например. Или недавно был фильм от Гильермо дель Торо.

    Я невероятно люблю пластилиновую анимацию, и эта работа определенно заняла место в моем сердце. Он простая, но очень красивая. Движения плавные, модели и окружение детализированные, а бои выглядят реалистично и динамично. Задел для сюжета большой, я очень хочу видеть продолжение или просто что-то из этой вселенной, что раскрывало бы сюжет (как минимум первую битву с Личем).
    Желаю автору удачи в будущих работах.

    • @claymationbykonrad
      @claymationbykonrad  5 днів тому

      Это прекрасно. Я бы не сказал, что она была простой, но визуально может и так.
      Да, теоретически тут много можно напридумывать.
      Интересно, что была отмечена часть с битвой с Личем, т.к. она была озвучена мимоходом. Лич в этом мире - другое существо, на самом деле, именно некромант и его уничтожили, а твари в фильме - иноземные, так скажем. Дольф просто не знал, с чем имеет дело на самом деле.
      Я раздумывал об этой встрече, показать тех же героев, более "молодых" и всё такое, но пока начал писать сценарий для прямого продолжения, лишь с небольшим откатом в прошлое(на пару дней).

    9 and a half minutes in and its just so, so good. I love it. The combat, the characters, the story. I was shocked when the knight lost his leg. And I just love the sets, everything is fantastic, and it's a free movie! I believe there is another full length movie like this but it was in another language with subtitles and I didn't get to it yet as I can't always read and take in what's happening. This is perfection to me. I love building models and painting and I am so impressed with every creative aspect and how it is just hours and hours of hobbying and digital work. Bravo.

      Yeah, if you're interested, I wasn't plan the leg scene, but internal skeleton of the man-at-arms brake and so I decided to make this graphical scene which was better the "original" planned outcome.

    This is absolute claymation cinema! I have not seen a claymation this good in a while! I like the setting and how they only have melee weapons instead of them having guns and still failing like any other claymation. I know this is a second comment, but I've thought about this a lot and I had to say it!
    It was intense, I dove in head first and it seemed like I could feel every blow the characters took. The film was a show of nostalgia for many works I had already seen, and for me it was easy getting attached to the characters. Astrid... Oh shit, she deserved a better ending. She fought so hard...
    And I thought it was funny that the drunk man fought really well lol
    What can I say about Anna? She was spectacular! She gave it her all! In many tense moments I thought she was going to die in combat! And it was like "Wow! Wow!"
    It's a mysterious world, where supposedly "God" has never stopped talking to his subjects, and aliens from somewhere else want to take over the world. The more you try to answer something about this world, more questions you will have! It's vast!
    My only criticisms are some camera moves that cause minor dizziness, and some scenes that have confusing lighting. But that's totally fine.
    The movie is 9/10

    • @claymationbykonrad
      @claymationbykonrad  11 днів тому +2

      Glad you liked it so much, this review does put a smile on my face!
      Anna could of die for real, because her joints were all broken.:D And now, who knows, maybe she is still alive even after the event.
      It's a pity I didn't give Anna more screen time and the backstory though.
      The alien is not necessarily pure evil, but rather more like an animal trying to survive.
      And yeah, God is real in this universe, I always found this idea interesting "what if..". And technically I am a God to them.. mad one apparently.
