Any young boy growing up near the millennium's turn in the South that loved baseball, loved Chipper. More than a baseball legend, he was - and still is - a Southern icon.
Chipper is one of the greatest hitters the game has ever seen. .300 from both sides of the plate... disciplined... just a true student of hitting. He put time and effort into all of it. Studying pitchers.
My memory quite bad these days, so I actually am not sure of the team it was against, but the Reds feels right. It was late in 1993, and I remember that game because it was not only Chipper's first MLB hit, it was also the same game that Ron Gant hit his first grand slam of his career as well. I was more excited about RG's GS than I was about Chipper's hit, to be honest. I didn't really know who Chipper was at the time. LOL
I raised my son a Braves fan. I took him to a home game at Turner Field and he caught a home run ball from Chipper. Years later and now an adult he still cherishes that ball.
@@futuregohan4837 I don’t think anyone paved the way for Chipper. He wanted to be the best regardless and constantly put in the work. He wanted to be a star.
Brooks Robinson was the best third baseman. And I'm a very biased Chipper fan. He's my all time favorite ballplayer . But switch best switch hitting third baseman yes.
Brian McGrath nobody has and nobody ever will. even ken griffey who had 600+ homeruns could get 100%. its those asshole sportswriters that get to vote that dont want a unanimous player inducted since the all time greats like babe ruth and hank aaron didnt get 100%. but chipper is 1st ballot for sure, one of the best switch hitters in the history of the game!
Brian McGrath yeah, the notion that gets thrown around, "If Babe Ruth wasn't unanimous, nobody should be," is like saying Randy Johnson shouldn't have been voted in because he killed a bird with a fastball.

Braves just arent the same these days without Chipper in the 3 spot! A true legend of the game
It's been 5 years and I still miss watching him play

Chipper Jones you are truly the G.O.A.T
I miss those old Braves teams back then. We had a great run but when Bobby left things slowly started to fall apart.
The team now tho.. So sick.
That Is Until Ronald Acuna Jr Came To The Rescue As Batman
I was there when Chipper got his first MLB hit.
Tawnku Imi-Uru I hope my memory isn't fading me but was it against the reds? Think it was an infield single.

#chipperjonesforcooperstown
he looks like metallica singer
Black Phillip Hatfield
I don't see any reason why he shouldn't get 100% of the vote. It's a travesty that Greg Maddux didn't, as well.
Yes. Greg Maddux should have gotten a 100% vote in. Chipper should as well.
