I reckon if you had replaced the Archers with Spartans, the battle would've gone differently.
Also, might be an idea to make these battles more dynamic by having reserves on the Defender Side getting switched to Attack instead of just hold.
If the massive blocks of the last Spartan defense here would've been switched to Attack, they'd have pushed the Persians back down the ramp to narrower chokepoints.

I've noticed the Spartans get destroyed when they are stationary. Maybe have them freely move when they start an encounter, allowing them to form ranks to defend and probably push back the Persians
Exactly, that’s the weakness, they need to free like Roman’s do in the other vid of them flanking.
Totally agree, if they could move freely they couldn’t be encircled or flanked. And they would have won.
Maybe when the spartans were being attacked at the top you should have made them not hold their ground. Because them doing that allows for the persians getting close to the archers, which also means the archers arrows fling back at them.

that arrow splashback was really screwing the spartans, you can see that here at 18:41 how red the lines of spartans and archers are. I think the archers did more harm then good here.
Imagine this as a morale boost: "Brothers, the blood waterfall of our brethren's blood is moving further and further up the mountain! Keep moving!"
The Spartan historically achieved their "win" by running down the mountain. If the archers were in packs between moving Spartan, the outcome may be different...

This was super cool to watch. I'll probably go sim it myself and see what improvements I can make to the Spartan defense. For the time lapse sections, I think it would be sweet if you muted all game sounds and whatever other sounds and put some like epic royalty free (maybe UA-cam Audio Library stuff?) over top of it. Just a suggestion! Keep up the great work!

I know its early development but the game needs more maps. Id like to see more mountain maps or maybe a city on a hill so you fight bottom to top as a siege.
Personally, I think the "Troy" map is under-utilised. I see it mostly for it's oasis section, but it also features a river with bridges, forests, a mountain pass, and a whole city!
All that potential, and it's mostly just used for the oasis? Boo!
@@Msatthew Ya its the map I use the most. Lots of cool ideas for maps they can do. Would love to see modern citys too. How cool would it be to see Spartans fighting in new york or golden gate bridge stuff like that

Awesome time lapses. Love to see more of the battle field when you do them though
This battle probably would've been faster if you spent more time placing the Spartans more specifically so they wouldn't be scattered and glitched all over the mountain and having to keep fixing it over and over. So just a suggestion for future battles like this.
Imagine just how demoralizing this battle is for the attackers.

A suggestion for time lapses, include the number of units alive and killed in each team
How about chunk norris at the top of the mountain and as many melee enemies as possible then try and see how big a pile of bodies you can make
I put 10 Trolls and 1 Chunk Norris at the top and they couldn’t take it. I think it was 250,000 zombies I used to attack..
You should have placed some archers with each contingent of spartans on the paths.

They should get rid of the arrows being able to dink off of the shields and hit the archers. That is unrealistic, stupid, and annoying.

I would love to see this scenario run again though with all the Spartans set to Guard. Being able to move would greatly help bring the archers into better range and also able to back peddle to get out of trouble.

Do one with a multi ring circle defense with the rings alternating between romans and red coats vs an absurd amount of zombies surrounding the outside ring on all sides. Have the red coats set to all fire at the same time as well

I think the Spartans could of won this if the archers were in more active positions earlier on, if they were able to shoot them in the back from the beginning it could of swung the fight the other way.

For the timelapses, the audio is kinda weird, I was thinking you could cut some normal pace battle audio and place it over the timelapses so it doesn't feel like such a difference
It kinda fells odd to be here early
You should have put like a few different groups of archers and like half of them on attack with some spartan melee
And I think if there was no friendly fire then the archers might have been a lot better
And what is the noise in the background when you do the time lapses

How about equal numbers of Spartans and Roman’s but both sides get archers backing them up. Spartans are better but Roman’s have better shields for protection.
Spartans still stomp. Faster, more HP, more damage. You’d have to give a numeric advantage to the Romans

I’m going with the Spartan’s on this one. When they had only 300 to deal with 10,000 persians the only way they lost was spy’s got the upper ground on the first battle.

I hope they add the immortals to the Persians to give them some extra strength with their weak capability, I mean we see the Spartans lost but a lot of Persians died. I feel like the romans would of won if it was them quickly, we seen how they managed against the red coats. Plus they have a lot more armor and damage.
Those were the equivalent of immortals. normal Persians would have no armor and no shields
@@chrisswett1368 oh my mistake, well something for the Persians at least. The immortals weren't a bad unit in ancient times. They were just going against people with high moral and to defend their homes with strong formation.
This would be a great senario for American or German soldiers to defend against zombies?

You should actually play as the defending force... You know ,moving forces where they are more useful. It would make these videos more interesting. Seeing someone trying to actively overcome crazy odd will make for a better watch instead you just playing as the commentator.

My pc crashed at 2 million while i have rtx 3070 and i7 7700, so why?? Although i love the game, it's insane how millions of units can be placed with absolutely no lag AT ALL!

problem I see with this fame so far is.... units are limited to single/few fighting tactics... and those are minimal at best.
you think in this scenario, the Persians wouldn't know to make a SHIELD ROOF.. for all but the front lines, so the archers above wouldn't be taking such numbers?
it isn't realistic in that nature... NO shield army would be dumb enough to just stand in line for HOURS waiting to get to the front lines, while arrows are being fired at you from above
I can understand zombies not doing it; because....brainless...
but they need to make the units' situational tactics more realistic...
love the vids though.
maybe zoom out and give a little more birds eye angle on some of the time-lapse... give a more zoomed out, overhead angle of the lines.
- or just put an overhead replay time-lapse at the end of every video- showing the line movements of the entire battlefield at a single time
