At this point, just release a 2024/25 style patch for FM24, then focus all resources on turning FM25 into FM26, with the bits they planned to take out updated/fixed & still in the game. Even fewer people are now going to buy FM25 if FM26 is scheduled to come out in November 2025, unless you're going to change the whole release cycle up.
You know why that is? Because the developers are under pressure to release from financial hackers and publishers. Sega will have been pushing for it to be out in November as they don't need to face the backlash if it was poorly received. That's why we keep seeing games chucked out half finished. I've just this very minute been playing cyberpunk actually 😂
The Devs have probably been working overtime and crunch to try and deliver the game in time for November. It's not realistic to continue that over Christmas. What's best for the team and the quality of their product is probably a rest and reset which will extend the process.
Just do Non League to Legend as normal - I associate NLTL as this time of year - hopefully a transfers patch at the very least for FM24 should help. I think it would work better now than in March when the weather is improving, the football season is pretty much done. I don't watch NLTL because it is FM22, FM23 or FM24 - let's face it, they all look the bleeding same anyway, I watch it because it is early in the season so the excitement is there, I am spending more time indoors so need something to watch and it is my favourite FM series.
Another NLTL on FM24 would be my vote too. Perhaps with one custom rule to make it harder for Kev after a year of familiarity with the game: no clubs or players that he's already worked with. But FM works well no matter the edition. He could go for an older FM, no older than the 3D match engine though. A vintage NLTL with text or 2D would start well, but his views would soon drop off as only the old CM-heads remained. Or a modded one - are there overhaul mods for FM? I mean the kind of mods that make it feel effectively like a new game. One of the things that always slightly deflates me about Kev's NLTL is that he's never really in trouble (the Schalke sacking a few FMs ago was a true anomaly). A custom NLTL in which he was in trouble more often than not - that would garner interest and views. And he wouldn't have to resort to those vaguely clickbaity 'ABOUT TO BE SACKED?' thumbnails that he sometimes does!
That sounds like a good idea, but maybe with a twist of having to be the club furthest away from Kev, not the nearest to him? Might mean somewhere like Truro instead.
Honestly, at this point, just release a database for FM24 that contains the FM25 database, even if it costs us a little money. Change nothing else. Just work on the game for FM26 and use the year to get it right.
there is a 24/25 database available for example at steam workshop, including all done transfers for the new season. That is what I am playing now, since I just can’t wait until march… damn 😮
It really wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. What has been forgotten in this fiasco is that FM24 is a really excellent installment of the game, probably the best in a good few years. A database update will already be in the works for the original FM25 launch date, and (albeit I'm not a game dev expert) it surely can't be too hard to port that to the existing game

That will be a live conversation at SI right now. In recent weeks and months there would have been advocates of all options, from 'release in November and be damned' to 'March 2025' to 'scrap it and go for FM26', and the March crew have (currently) won out. I'd not be flabbergasted by an announcement in January that FM25 is no more. Having made a couple of simple mobile games, I can appreciate the scale of what they're doing. 5 years is probably as long as it takes.

You referred to it as being like CM4 (and I'd made the same comparison!) before, and you were spot on. The lack of any footage or real screenshots has been the real red flag - if they were happy with how it looked, and that it was working, we'd have had screenshots every day, they'd have been on every announcement and they'd have been shouting about it everywhere.

Imagine being one of the poor devs being set impossible deadlines by management at SI, promising everyone that the game will be ready in 4 weeks even though the match engine is so non-functional they can't even release static screenshots of it. It must have felt like waiting for the gallows. SI's suits tried until the very last minute to throw their devs to the wolves (no doubt crunching them 24/7) while taking pre-orders for a game that would never be ready. Heads should roll at the top of SI, this project has been mismanaged on a colossal scale, they have abused their staff, their community and their investors all rather than admit that they bit off more than they could chew with the new features. But this is the games industry, where failure is rewarded and the people at the coalface carry the can. Disgraceful.
Yeah those poor devs.. the handful that get paid from millions of pounds of game revenue, to end up making 20,000+ posts on the SI forums denying and censoring any criticism, and adding an advanced rule or two to make players come out as gay and prevent fun with Brexit rules before Brexit even happened. The whole lot of them, from Miles down to the 20-something soyboys that he hired for obedience and ideological affinity not competence, should be fired, but let's be realistic.. the way this is probably going to turn out is that no change will happen and their publisher Sega Japan will simply drop the game due to failing to fulfill basic expectations of getting a game out at release time (i.e. a financial decision).
If you need ideas can I suggest the decagon challenge… it’s basically the pentagon challenge but you also need to win the 4 major regional international tournaments and the World Cup… only then can you truly say… “I’ve completed it mate”

all i can say is that some people at SI wanted to release the game in november and had ads and marketing already going, and now they delay. Called it in the comments the other day. Remember, for the next few months you DONT HAVE to be an fm player, bring new games to the channel short term, have some laughs, play some different stuff. I think they might as well wait until next summer now. With the season being almost over in March, starting at the start of next season would be better. Give us free squad updates this season until then
Honestly Kev, you got me back into FM after a few years away. Genuinely would love to see East Fife back and the streams as well. Hopefully FM keep the real life DB up to date to help tide us over
Additional comment - other game franchises with die hard fans have hit hiatuses - NCAA Football died with NCAA14 and only returned this year - yet PLENTY of creators kept going with NCAA14 for close to a decade and were plenty succesful. Not ideal, but if the worst happens there is hope - us lot will still want our daily FM fix :)
no immediate reaction because I was going to skip this year's version anyway. all the signs were there for me to do so and this just validates my insights even more.
I always like to do a 'UK domination' save. Just like a Glory Hunter, but you start unemployed with no badges and Northern Ireland, Wales, Republic of Ireland, Scotland and England leagues. You have to win the league in every country (you can also add cup) and then the European trophies. Thats interesting and should keep you busy.
Would absolutely love to see you do a NLTL on a retro data base from say the late 90s early 2000's. Would be great to see players come through youth systems etc and maybe u could do hybrid name in the game.
For those saying “why don’t they just skip 25 and release a data update… they probably won’t be able to legally. They have licenses with FIFA/UEFA/FIFPRO/Premier League/La Liga etc. which will have an agreement to have an annual release and then paying them X amount. Then from SEGA there are shareholders as it’s a Public company and not a Private one, and they’ll be under pressure to release the game by the end of the Fiscal Year, which is end of March. So they’ve had to push it back as far as they possibly could and not break contracts, piss off investors/shareholders. Personally speaking, I REALLY hope that everyone who pre-ordered demands a refund and waits until we get a gameplay reveal in January, if anything just to prove a point. I was never going to pre-order given the removal of features announced back in June/July, and I was 50/50 about buying it at all when they announced the delay last week as I had a bad feeling it was going to be completely bugged… now with it pushed back to likely the end of March, I’m 90% certain I won’t buy it as FM26 should release in November, so what’s the point? 🤷🏻♂️
The further delay is actually killing my interest in the game. I carried on my fm23 in fm24.. now getting bored of it. Ive been an avid fan since the championship manager days but now im actually bored of it for the first time.... ever! Ill come back for fm26

Lots of ideas would gain at least some short term traction to keep you in the algorithm. Retro database rebuilds, some short term rebuilds. Maybe a Saving Man United rebuild in your current save where they’re a championship team? Obviously none of them will provide the same boost as a new game, but I do think you’ll have opportunities to keep moving forward. Hoping you don’t have to resort to an OnlyKevs account!
Doing the planned NLTL on both 24 and 25 could be interesting treating 25 as a sort of alternate universe. Would be a way to compare the two games and what has changed when looking at how results varied between the two first seasons. Failing that, there's always Holme...

None of this "lets charge people for an alpha game that is 20% built" like other devs. SI Games have given people like 20 years of the best football management game ever built and suddenly players can't give them a year off to try and bring us something better. Gamers need to sort themselves out.

Hey Kev, love the channel and content. Have to agree with most people.....worth trying to sort out an office patch update to cover 24/25 and start working towards FM26. Hard to try and convince general fans to pay for it once most of the football season is over (of course die hard fans will buy it). Bitter sweet - don't want to see them release a disappointing/rushed game just to meet deadlines. In terms of content, would love to see you download the classic Championship Manager 01/02 game and do a non-league to legend series on that with you're football knowledge (might be too easy for you).
It is what it is! As some one that's bought it year on year, from day one it's going to feel weird not buying it or playing fm25 this year. One thing though, they've left us with big expectations now for March if it doesn't wow, then big questions need to be asked going forward with the game.
I'm sure as being the best fm you tuber out there that your not short of great ideas but I'd love to see a series where you rebuild French team bordeaux and get them to winning the French team.
Try FC 25 it's not the full experience but it's up to date and it's got loads of content, Even ultimate team has taken a turn for the better and is quiet enjoyable this year
as in any business that has a drop, only the strong will prevail. some of your competition will close, and if you can stay above the water, the time will come that you will collect their sales (in this case views, subscribers and comments). just need to redefine your day-to-day living and hold on until Nov 25 . the ones that survive these types of mess, after, usually can run as kings..... best of luck and wisdom

Still playing FM19 . Currently in 2070. I've won the league and UCL consecutively for the last 30 years. At one point it gets really easy once real managers retire 😂
The game gets really easy quite early unless you're moving clubs a lot cause the AI all end up with teams of players in their 30s and don't develop youth
There’s obviously challenges, and it seems like the right thing to do, if you weight up disappointment in the community about a delay versus reputational damage for releasing a sub-standard product. I’m still having fun playing FM24 so no biggie.
It’s the size of the delay that concerns me most I think, they delayed by a month initially and then a further 4 months now; what did they find in that 1 month delay that made them need to quintuple their delay time? Personally I think for now they need to release an update for FM24, a big squad & kit update if licenses allow, and if there’s anything extra they can chuck in then it’s a bonus.
Polish up the updated database from the network game and start a new save is my shout. Obviously bitterly disappointing news about the delay (especially for content creators.) However, I'm sure it will be a good thing in the long run to release a better, more complete game in March. I'm fully expecting a complete game with internationals etc. included, they NEED to deliver this in a big way come March.
So sorry for you Kev. Having been involved in a franchise business myself that went under, I feel your pain. It's an awful feeling when it is beyond your control and nothing that you have done wrong. You feel let down, and rightly so. For the casual FM player, it doesn't really affect us, but for those that depend on it for an income, it really isn't good. You look like you are putting in contingencies for other content away from FM. I hope it is enough for you that you can continue making a living this way.
Wouldn't it make sense to release FM 25 in September. That would give them plenty of time to give us fans, a highly polished, feature heavy game that we all deserve.
I think a little bit of foresight from SI would have avoided the mess that has been created in the few weeks. They should of given themselves more time from the outset, when originally announcing FM25, they should have put back release date to give them the time required, people would have had time to digest that info, they could have also released a dlc for FM24 as a data update for £10-15.
I remember Champ Man 4 and how buggy it was. It actually led to a personal exodus of about 15 years from playing the game. A shame, but I’m enjoying FM24 and don’t think I’ll stop playing that in the interim.
I think the biggest worry for me Kev isn’t that this game is being delayed 5 months, because if it releases and it’s the masterpiece we all expect then all will be forgiven, however it’s the fact it’s gunna be 2 months away from the end of the season. March is a terrible time for the start of a football games lifecycle and will massively effect sales especially with the casual fans. They’ll lose a tonne of players with a March release as the interest in football and that current season outside of the hardcore fan base will be next to zero, they gotta find a way of getting back to this side of a new year in the future, especially before Christmas as they’ll also be losing all them people who’d be buying it as a Christmas present too, not good long term
In a different universe, many years ago....Championship Manager 01/02 was followed by Championship Manager 03/04. Nobody asked what happened to Championship Manager 02/03 because they sneaked it out as an update with the sexy patch name 3.9.68. Massively more complex game these days obviously and licencing issues to take into account, plus the terrible optics if they just bin FM25 and add a database update but it has happened before....
Two months before the season ends! Good thing 24 is a good game. Sucked tho. Hopefully, a patch will come out on the 26th Nov with all up to date transfers, wonderkids and managers moves.
How have I only just realised you’re Block Party on TikTok only because saw you were at Legoland. Super disappointed the game is delayed. I can see them skipping a year if it’s this bad. Though end of financial year end of march makes sense.
That’s why I wouldn’t do it with 2 videos that I expected to get views. If I sneak an extra video out at 11, it usually means I’m expecting it to bomb anyway.
Can't say I'm surprised. All these dev's have done for years is update the database and add some pointless new feature like dynamics, slap a new sticker on it and ship it out as the next title. I imagine this is the most work some of these guys have done since the CM/FM switch

Based on release date I would be surprised if it was renamed fm 25/26 and they go straight onto fm 27 development in an attempt to get a finalized product ready for launch October 2026. I doubt they will launch 2 products in the same year.

Yeah those poor devs.. the handful that get paid from millions of pounds of game revenue, to end up making 20,000+ posts on the SI forums denying and censoring any criticism, and adding an advanced rule or two to make players come out as gay and prevent fun with Brexit rules before Brexit even happened.
The whole lot of them, from Miles down to the 20-something soyboys that he hired for obedience and ideological affinity not competence, should be fired, but let's be realistic.. the way this is probably going to turn out is that no change will happen and their publisher Sega Japan will simply drop the game due to failing to fulfill basic expectations of getting a game out at release time (i.e. a financial decision).

Kev see for an idea to keep us going til March, you've already proven yourself king of the pentagon - but the thing was it was very summarised - 5 months is enough time i hope to maybe start a pentagon series and do that daily and show us in a lot more detail how you tackle it? just a thought make a whole series (akin to non league to legend) but do the pentagon?

all i can say is that some people at SI wanted to release the game in november and had ads and marketing already going, and now they delay. Shame on the people that thought they could get away with releasing a terrible standard game, and i praise the people that were real and said 'this is shit lets not'

My immediate reaction is sympathy for content creators like you Kev. I can quite happily wait, I don't have time to play anyway, but following along with your adventures (and other creators) is how I consume FM these days.

Remember, for the next few months you DONT HAVE to be an fm player, bring new games to the channel short term, have some laughs, play some different stuff.
I think they might as well wait until next summer now. With the season being almost over in March, starting at the start of next season would be better.

Additional comment - other game franchises with die hard fans have hit hiatuses - NCAA Football died with NCAA14 and only returned this year - yet PLENTY of creators kept going with NCAA14 for close to a decade and were plenty succesful. Not ideal, but if the worst happens there is hope - us lot will still want our daily FM fix :)

I always like to do a 'UK domination' save. Just like a Glory Hunter, but you start unemployed with no badges and Northern Ireland, Wales, Republic of Ireland, Scotland and England leagues. You have to win the league in every country (you can also add cup) and then the European trophies. Thats interesting and should keep you busy.

For those saying “why don’t they just skip 25 and release a data update… they probably won’t be able to legally.
They have licenses with FIFA/UEFA/FIFPRO/Premier League/La Liga etc. which will have an agreement to have an annual release and then paying them X amount.
Then from SEGA there are shareholders as it’s a Public company and not a Private one, and they’ll be under pressure to release the game by the end of the Fiscal Year, which is end of March.
So they’ve had to push it back as far as they possibly could and not break contracts, piss off investors/shareholders.
Personally speaking, I REALLY hope that everyone who pre-ordered demands a refund and waits until we get a gameplay reveal in January, if anything just to prove a point.
I was never going to pre-order given the removal of features announced back in June/July, and I was 50/50 about buying it at all when they announced the delay last week as I had a bad feeling it was going to be completely bugged… now with it pushed back to likely the end of March, I’m 90% certain I won’t buy it as FM26 should release in November, so what’s the point? 🤷🏻♂️
The further delay is actually killing my interest in the game. I carried on my fm23 in fm24.. now getting bored of it. Ive been an avid fan since the championship manager days but now im actually bored of it for the first time.... ever!

Lots of ideas would gain at least some short term traction to keep you in the algorithm. Retro database rebuilds, some short term rebuilds. Maybe a Saving Man United rebuild in your current save where they’re a championship team?
Obviously none of them will provide the same boost as a new game, but I do think you’ll have opportunities to keep moving forward.

Doing the planned NLTL on both 24 and 25 could be interesting treating 25 as a sort of alternate universe. Would be a way to compare the two games and what has changed when looking at how results varied between the two first seasons. Failing that, there's always Holme...

None of this "lets charge people for an alpha game that is 20% built" like other devs. SI Games have given people like 20 years of the best football management game ever built and suddenly players can't give them a year off to try and bring us something better. Gamers need to sort themselves out.

Have to agree with most people.....worth trying to sort out an office patch update to cover 24/25 and start working towards FM26. Hard to try and convince general fans to pay for it once most of the football season is over (of course die hard fans will buy it). Bitter sweet - don't want to see them release a disappointing/rushed game just to meet deadlines.
In terms of content, would love to see you download the classic Championship Manager 01/02 game and do a non-league to legend series on that with you're football knowledge (might be too easy for you).

It is what it is! As some one that's bought it year on year, from day one it's going to feel weird not buying it or playing fm25 this year. One thing though, they've left us with big expectations now for March if it doesn't wow, then big questions need to be asked going forward with the game.

They should just release fm 26 in august next year and call it a day. Just rebrand fm25 to 26 and do a squad update in october for all transfers.
Try FC 25 it's not the full experience but it's up to date and it's got loads of content, Even ultimate team has taken a turn for the better and is quiet enjoyable this year

I agree! You could argue that NLTL doesn't even need an updated database when starting that low and by the time 30 free transfers have come in to overhaul the squad, its irrelevant anyway.
I can see them skipping 25 and going straight to FM 26 makes sense now, a lot were waiting until 26 anyway because of the drama with 25.

It's shocking that they have given a release date and then 10 days later they have delayed it, that's what's annoying me.
Still playing FM19 . Currently in 2070. I've won the league and UCL consecutively for the last 30 years. At one point it gets really easy once real managers retire 😂
The game gets really easy quite early unless you're moving clubs a lot cause the AI all end up with teams of players in their 30s and don't develop youth

There’s obviously challenges, and it seems like the right thing to do, if you weight up disappointment in the community about a delay versus reputational damage for releasing a sub-standard product. I’m still having fun playing FM24 so no biggie.

It’s the size of the delay that concerns me most I think, they delayed by a month initially and then a further 4 months now; what did they find in that 1 month delay that made them need to quintuple their delay time?
Personally I think for now they need to release an update for FM24, a big squad & kit update if licenses allow, and if there’s anything extra they can chuck in then it’s a bonus.

Polish up the updated database from the network game and start a new save is my shout. Obviously bitterly disappointing news about the delay (especially for content creators.) However, I'm sure it will be a good thing in the long run to release a better, more complete game in March. I'm fully expecting a complete game with internationals etc. included, they NEED to deliver this in a big way come March.
So sorry for you Kev. Having been involved in a franchise business myself that went under, I feel your pain. It's an awful feeling when it is beyond your control and nothing that you have done wrong. You feel let down, and rightly so. For the casual FM player, it doesn't really affect us, but for those that depend on it for an income, it really isn't good. You look like you are putting in contingencies for other content away from FM. I hope it is enough for you that you can continue making a living this way.

Wouldn't it make sense to release FM 25 in September. That would give them plenty of time to give us fans, a highly polished, feature heavy game that we all deserve.
I think a little bit of foresight from SI would have avoided the mess that has been created in the few weeks. They should of given themselves more time from the outset, when originally announcing FM25, they should have put back release date to give them the time required, people would have had time to digest that info, they could have also released a dlc for FM24 as a data update for £10-15.
also I'd suggest do a NLTL or a similar series on an updated database in november. Treat it like it's the new game.
I remember Champ Man 4 and how buggy it was. It actually led to a personal exodus of about 15 years from playing the game. A shame, but I’m enjoying FM24 and don’t think I’ll stop playing that in the interim.

I think the biggest worry for me Kev isn’t that this game is being delayed 5 months, because if it releases and it’s the masterpiece we all expect then all will be forgiven, however it’s the fact it’s gunna be 2 months away from the end of the season. March is a terrible time for the start of a football games lifecycle and will massively effect sales especially with the casual fans. They’ll lose a tonne of players with a March release as the interest in football and that current season outside of the hardcore fan base will be next to zero, they gotta find a way of getting back to this side of a new year in the future, especially before Christmas as they’ll also be losing all them people who’d be buying it as a Christmas present too, not good long term

In a different universe, many years ago....Championship Manager 01/02 was followed by Championship Manager 03/04. Nobody asked what happened to Championship Manager 02/03 because they sneaked it out as an update with the sexy patch name 3.9.68. Massively more complex game these days obviously and licencing issues to take into account, plus the terrible optics if they just bin FM25 and add a database update but it has happened before....
Two months before the season ends! Good thing 24 is a good game. Sucked tho. Hopefully, a patch will come out on the 26th Nov with all up to date transfers, wonderkids and managers moves.

Super disappointed the game is delayed. I can see them skipping a year if it’s this bad. Though end of financial year end of march makes sense.
I've seen that views are severely affected if two videos are uploaded on the same day. I wanted to point that out.
That’s why I wouldn’t do it with 2 videos that I expected to get views. If I sneak an extra video out at 11, it usually means I’m expecting it to bomb anyway.
If a game is in such a bad state that you give up the Christmas window, it isn't going to be truly finished and polished by March.
Can't say I'm surprised. All these dev's have done for years is update the database and add some pointless new feature like dynamics, slap a new sticker on it and ship it out as the next title. I imagine this is the most work some of these guys have done since the CM/FM switch

It's a little unsurprising and while disappointing it does give me hope the final product will be good. It's going to be a rough 5 months of no new FM though :(

Based on release date I would be surprised if it was renamed fm 25/26 and they go straight onto fm 27 development in an attempt to get a finalized product ready for launch October 2026. I doubt they will launch 2 products in the same year.
