On point with that body! I own a real 1976 scout ll like the gen 8 these trucks were built to perform offroad ,not for looks...In the late 70's they were baja champions, you can look it up. Scout ll SS! Beat ford, chevy, and jeeps! Wish they were still made awesome trucks!
Excellent camera work showing off the exterior & interior in an amazing rock crawler setting! The blue color really pops. The current Gen8 is awesome, but the Gen9 is a solid 👍
Awesome review. I’m glad to see Redcat is trying hard to stay in the market. Ive really enjoyed my modded gen7 for awhile now. They’re a good company with good customer service
Thank you for this video bud,one of the best on this rig so far. Love the side by side comparison and the actual breakdown and review of the components.
Awesome review 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻, complete tear down, showing full details of the transmission, and very comprehensive information, HANDS DOWN the best rc product review!
It's a beautiful rig, but I'd place it second behind the axe edition, but that's just my opinion. Which is just that an opinion. To me you can't go wrong
@@RC4X4 I love both my redcat rigs (gen7 and 8). I own a capra for pure crawling, but the weight of the gen's make them some of the best trail trucks. And they can crawl for their size
Everything seems on point Greg from what I can tell, Obviously for what you're spending it's gonna have its shortcomings (transmission shifting ) etc but at $4 hun it's almost to be expected. otherwise, I'd say spend $4 hun on a Vanquish kit and another few hundred in electronics or spend $550 on Traxxas with 2 speed and call it a day. But for the budget-minded I think it's a really nice looking truck with all that detail in the body and the new improvements. , I would of like to have seen folding mirrors tho, that's a very inexpensive fix on Redcats end as this is now the 5th truck with broken mirrors
Love the look and the design improvements but can't justify the expense to replace my much-loved, mildly-modded Gen8 V2 (brass portal covers in the front, 15T pinion, stainless front skid, alloy link mounts and servo relocation mount). But for a noob on a budget looking for a first 1/10 scale trail truck, I would say you can't go wrong with this one. My Gen8 has taken a pretty good beating over the last 2.5 years with no breakage other then the hitch receiver getting squashed when she went backwards off a 3' drop on slickrock and landed squarely on it! She's rolled, flipped and fallen countless times with nothing to show for it but body rash.
We bought the Gen9 Saturday, and the axle shaft pin already broke. Hopefully it was just a fluke on my Gen9 and not anything to do with the new design. We filed a warranty claim on it this morning and hope to hear back from the company soon.
I'd kill to have that rig in real life. Broncos are way over priced anymore, you can get scouts for decent money if they're not rusted to death. These models are great. Appreciate the video
I like it i will have to get one to add to lineup and let u kno looks very Kool, hav other gen 8 v2s make great trail rigs and more scale too ,happy trails mate
Trans fix....Change remotes. Nobody uses the stock remotes anyway. Set the endpoints correctly 🤟 im upset they didnt leave the c hubs separately. Thats 180g in brass that a comp crawler style build would be missing out on
No worries apparently the 2 speed tranny will be available as a kit for the gen 8s. In reality, other then body mounting system, 2 speed tranny and beefed up axles and better steering angle. This is a gen 8 truck mostly.
Thank You Greg for another outstanding review 💯 This has me intrigued by being a RTR Full Scale Truck and with the Upgrades from the Gen 8 v2 it looks like a Great Model, but being Scale I have to know if a wrestler figure will fit with out cutting it's legs? ✌🤠👍 HFLPRCing =Having Fun Laughing Playing and RCing 👍😎👍 AOAH =Association of Addicted Hobbiest 🙏 SSPH =Stay Safe and Play Healthy My Friend
I think the body looks terrible looks like a Shoe Box. Scout II is much nicer. also think its a bit over priced for what it is. The Axe Edition Gen * was a Home Run. Quality Electronics and a Nicer Body.
Are you referring to SORRCA classes? Well, it’s marketed as a trail truck, not a competitve rock crawler, so what does it matter? If you were going to compete with it you’d have to seriously modify it, so how is that Red Cat’s problem. I don’t know any manufacturer that specifies what competitive class there trucks could be. Not trying to be snarky or rude, I just feel that conflating SORRCA with the industry is odd.
Gen9 transmission is made of butter the 4kg micro servo they give as stock is a joke goes out before you can even use the rig- once you replace servo with obviously a higher kg servo - the Teo step transmission gears go butter and you legit have no torque nor do the wheels even spin when giving throttle but can hear scrapping - Overall SPEND THE EXTRA FOR A TRAXXAS REDCAT ALWAYS DOES THIS WITH ALL THERE MODELA

They came with the strongest Dana 44 axel's over jeep and Ford Chevy
Hell yea

Love the POV camera angle and as usual, very informative and detailed review...GREAT JOB!

Yup, lots of improvements over the years. They’re a strong brand.
Thank you for this video bud,one of the best on this rig so far. Love the side by side comparison and the actual breakdown and review of the components.
Nice to see a lot of RTRs going to DumboRC transmitters and receivers. They're tried and true while keeping cost down.
My early experiences with DumboRC radios wasn’t great. This transmitter was better, but I read some people were having alarm/beeping tone issues.
Thanks for blowing up my inbox with a rig I can't get down another week + lol. Thanks for sharing Greg. Your camera work is movie quality as usual.👍
Sorry LOL! 😆
Awesome review 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻, complete tear down, showing full details of the transmission, and very comprehensive information, HANDS DOWN the best rc product review!
Thank you. Bummed I forgot a few breakdown clips during the video editing. But the major stuff was there.
Best red cat to date.
It's a beautiful rig, but I'd place it second behind the axe edition, but that's just my opinion. Which is just that an opinion. To me you can't go wrong
Great video, thanks Greg
Excellent review. I think this may be my first RedCat. The 800 looks great.
It's be first and last.

I noticed Yorktown beach in the background? Are you local to that area?
Great briefing!
Very good range on that controller it a aftermarket dumbbo receiver
Crazy when I saw the pier and bridge I was like man that looks like Yorktown!
It’s an amazing spot!
I was just talking to my friend about a Gen9 and what it could be. I come on to UA-cam, and I see your video. Love the video.
NO WAY I LOVE REDCAT! I NEEEED ITTT!
Great video. Thanks
I can't wait to get one

He always has a nice review
Looks nice Greg great review as always.. would like even nicer with a driver figure 👍
Can't wait gonna be Kool truck
Oh nice! I love the details on the truck! Guess I will have to do a "reaction to a review" video haha A few videos out there today on this model!
I've had 2 long runs with mine. It's a good rig. Both mirrors and I door handle gone. Lol
Too fast?!?! said no scale trail junky ever!!! 😈
😆😂🤣
Can you used a bronco hard body on this ?
Good job! First out with it!
Another great review.
I would be interested in this if it they release it as a builders kit.
about the same gears as the trx4, servo saver will help
I'd kill to have that rig in real life. Broncos are way over priced anymore, you can get scouts for decent money if they're not rusted to death. These models are great. Appreciate the video
Bailey, Colorado a guy has a whole car lot of old scouts
I like it i will have to get one to add to lineup and let u kno looks very Kool, hav other gen 8 v2s make great trail rigs and more scale too ,happy trails mate
Did some one try to contact me ,,through this post ?
Please don't take my response out of context Greg. I really do appreciate and enjoy your content.
Could I put that 2 speed transmission in my gen 8?
Yes you can
Beautiful 😍

So I just got mine and the controller makes a very annoying beeping noise when I am playing with it how would I fix that
Nice truck
I Love the realistic Scout Body details. Very pricy foe my budget
Can’t wait
Great Review!
1080 and a holms hobby brushed motor and I'd be a very happy man well another truck on the list
Sweet I'm getting one
Muy buena la revisión del coche. Me parece un crawler muy interesante.
Nice!
Wish it had. Koller looking bodie
Looks nice. But I think they should not have done another scout body. Too similar to the gen8 in appearance. Call it the gen8v3. Or gen8.5.
I wish my trx4 defender body mounted that easily. The pins are so annoying.
I hope the gen 8 body fits. Doesn't like the looks.
Too pretty for a trail truck IMO. That would look rough real quick on my trails!
Id still get a gen 8 buuuuuuut this looks cool if only other bodies were there
Dang it man. I just got a gen8 v2
No worries apparently the 2 speed tranny will be available as a kit for the gen 8s. In reality, other then body mounting system, 2 speed tranny and beefed up axles and better steering angle. This is a gen 8 truck mostly.
the V2 is really awesome too, grats.
I suppose I'll wait and see if people are able to transfer the axles and steering components over to the g8. Actually more of a fan of the g8 body tbh

One hour after you posted this, three other posted at the same time on the same exact truck????
Very suspicious!
IF ppl use their money & buy it themselves, they can say anything they want.
WE haven't ever, nor will we give away vehicles for review for free.

looks like a v8 gas motor will fit
Take it to all 50 States.
scale builders That Canadian guy up North he broke I think he just said, hit a rock it flipped over , rock branch or something,🤔 steerin linkage
Nice but,its still a redcat!

I asked the redcat support what class this would be and they have no idea,. That is what they said,. Maybe pay attention Redcat

Still a redcat trying to be axial. That pinion has got to go. 1 pc axles are not an upgrade

To each their own. Too bad they didn't do a truck style. And no... SUVs are not trucks
uggh great truck but remote look cheap asf
Not a big fan of the look 😢
bought a redcat and returned it, wont ever buy another redcat again, trash product, spend the extra money and buy an Axial
So everyone knows not to buy this garbage,. Thanks for the heads up,.
For a second I thought they had done a bad job on the body but then I realized it's just an ugly truck lol.
LOL! Same, that’s why I googled it and realized they at least did a great job replicating it.
Lame! Release something new and original already the scouts worn out!
More lame:ALL the repeated jeeps are worn out.
Looks OK No major brickage,,,👍🫡🌟
Still not ever getting a redcat. The body is cool but I honestly just don't like redcats approach to the hobby. To each their own
& I'm THAT way about anything and everything trashmas.
