Oh wow Oh wow! That is so very very cool. I could watch that stuff all day. Then you added the very cool doodles. Wow. I love it! What a great way to spend the day. Thanks for sharing your fun. Hugs, Linda
Thanks Linda. You should give it a try it's really fascinating and no two are ever the same. I think I'll make more to take on vacation later then I can doodle and zentangles on them if I get a need to craft moment. Xx
Scrapitydoodah That is a great thing to take a long. Do you have a favorite Zentangle book? We are going to the cabin and that would be great to take with me. I have gloss paper but I will be near an art store tomorrow I will check for that Yupo paper. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Linda
I don't have a book but I watch Tiffany Lovering and others on YTube. I have the little box of cards like you do. I don't think gloss paper would work the same but you could give it a try. Hope you have a good time at the cabin xx
Scrapitydoodah I did try the gloss paper and it was fun but today I was in an art store and they had Yupo paper. It was in large single sheets and other sizes but it wasn't covered. I don't know how many people may have touched it but I am going to give it a try as soon as I can. We are going to the cabin for the next 5 days. I might have to wait. Yikes! The gloss paper was fun but it didn't make as many fun shapes as your Yupo did. Thanks again.
It's only for the alcohol ink stage that you don't have to touch it as the grease from your fingers stops the spread from working correctly according to Joggles. Ildiko said she'd heard that wiping the paper with alcohol or blending fluid first to clean it was a good idea. Still not sure if that would change the effect but you could try a small piece and see. Looking forward to seeing your creations xx
I've just bought yupo paper and alcohol inks (I didn't know not to touch the paper so thank you for the tip). Going to have loads of fun now. Thank you
I bought some yupo and a few alcohol inks a couple months ago and played with them, but not much since then. They are fun and they do some pretty fantastic things. I enjoy your art and your videos.
mskaykrafts Thanks Claudene. It really is fascinating to watch how the colours interact. I'm sure there's other things that you can do with it too. TFW - HUgs Lynn
Lynn, wow! I have not seen this paper before. The finished pages are just beautiful! I like how some of the shapes look like flowers as they blend outwards. I need to find this paper, going to look now. TFS! Sue
shiles728 You will love it. Every page is always different and it's fascinating to watch how the colours interact. You should definitely give it a try. TFW - Lynn
Absolutely lovely. I am looking forward to playing with my alcohol inks on Yupo, as the tablet arrived yesterday. It looks like you had a fabulous time, making this piece. I hope you have framed it.
Wonderful. I'm just starting out, haven't even dropped my first drop of alcohol ink yet, but I'm very excited to try. I absolutely love the Autumn colored piece you did!!
Nice! I subscribe to the doodle & play aspect of creation. Its a bit like meditating once you get into the flow. I'm going to try this. It seems a great base for building upon.
I have to find this yupo paper. It looks like such fun with each one turning out so differently, I also love the doodling you did and know I would enjoy that too. thanks for the demo lesson - gabriele
I’ve been playing with my alcohol inks and Yupo all weekend but didn’t think to doodle on it. Thanks for the inspiration, I will definitely have to give it a try. Btw, love your creations.
very fun. what great look! Takes me back to our psychedelic Sgt Pepper days. thanks so much... I often use markers to define shapes, edges.. but with the alcohol inks I actually love the color blending, less defined, sort of watery results. its all fun.
+Scrapitydoodah .... thx much! YES! Ive played a lot with substitutes and inferior materials.. got a few OK images, but nothing like the YUPO results Ive seen. I finally got to the US to buy my supplies. avante garde items are very limited in Peru. Just getting going on YUPO.. and glass. if you like follow my progress on this and other projects, how tos at my new site www.petalsandprisms.com -- also where Ive embedded your video!
I'm glad you managed to buy the supplies you wanted.. I just had a quick look at your site and see you are still in the process of constructing it. I wish you good luck and thanks for featuring my video
Oh, wow! It was so much fun watching paint dry :-) Your color selections work very nicely and the doodles are awesome. I like the cross-hatched background. Wonderful pieces! Hsug, Ildiko
I found it on EBay. UK version. It was being sold by an art company called SAA. They usually have a lot listed in various pack sizes. I got 20 sheets of A4 size for £9.99. (Then I cut a sheet into 4). 👍
I love this technique! Gives me great ideas for a class I will be teaching, thank you. For the markers, was that a gel pen? And for the black liner, would fine line Sharpies also work? Your's are very pretty.
This was a great video and appreciate the step by step guide. You mentioned that you would make them into cards; how would you do that? Thank you, Corry
I would stick them onto another piece of card probably black or white and slightly larger than the Yupo piece then onto the card front and this would be my background. Or I would cut it smaller to be the focal point and again layer it once or twice onto card first. I hope this helps.
How fun this looks. I would never have thought of adding doodles if I had not seen your video. Thank you. I do have one question though -- when I turn over my bottles of Ranger alcohol ink, the drops come out immediately, making it very difficult to keep them small. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions on that? Thank you.
Some of my bottles come out faster than others. Especially when they're new and full. I don't think there is much you can do about it. I try not to put any pressure on the sides and turn them quickly and then back. Sorry I can't be of more help. Thanks for watching
I think she said she was using cotton swabs that she applied drops of some sort of bottled blending solution onto before drawing with it onto the alcohol spots.
I dont know what the Yupo paper cost but I was able to buy about 10 packs of 20 photo paper, the large size 9x14? for a buck a pack at the dollar tree,I dont know for sure but I think one might get a similar effect,or who knows maybe something really cool.I made homemade ink from 97% rubbing alcohol and different colored Sharpies,so Im gonna try some stuff. Thanks for the video, now I know what Yupo paper is.
Alcohol ink will definitely work on photo paper but I can't say if you will get the exact same effect. You will have to come back and let me know. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I am using Adirondack Alcohol inks and the SAA Yupo papers. Will try again I get circles if I drop ink into a splodge that is already there but not from the first drops on the paper. On some occasions it doesn't spread at all just stays as it's drop! I have ordered some different Yupo in case I hot a different lot! Thank you for taking the time to help me!
Could you list your supplies somewhere. I am in the US and would like to try this. What kind of pens did you use at the end--were they alcohol pens or watercolor? Thank you. Yours are darling!
You would not get this same effect with alcohol marker pens. You could certainly use alcohol pens on the paper but whether you would get a different effect to their use on other paper I can't say as I've never tried it.
Great video! Thanks a lot to share your knowledge with us!!! On the other hand, I'd like to know the name of the white pen or "the tool" that appear at 21:12. Thanks!
If you wish to seal your pieces it's recommended that you use an acrylic spray product that will not yellow with time. There are many brands available but Delta Ceramcoat Clear Varnish or Blair #201 are talked about. You should spray outside or in a well ventilated area, lightly from side to side then up and down. Use several thin coats rather than one heavy coat to avoid drips.
these are beautiful but can you explain to us the difference in this type of paper as far as end result, because i think you would have achieved the same beautiful results on card stock...Am i missing something about this paper? Seems like a lot of fuss...
+posh gypsy The paper is plastic based with a Matt coating. You would not get the same effect on card stock. Nor on glossy card stock. I hope this helps. TFW:)
Yes they are different. They are thicker and don’t spread in the same way as the coloured inks. You usually only need a tiny bit to add an accent. That’s why I’ve only added it to the centre of my doodles. Hope this helps.
Firstly, my apologies. I am behind with your videos & as a fellow UK-er, I really should support you more regularly. It's the age old, boring, only on mobile & UA-cam stop/starts literally every minute for at least 10 seconds. Thus I try to avoid longer videos. However, I try to remind myself it takes you far longer to record, edit, upload etc so to make more effort to watch you. Doesn't always work but for ones like this, definitely worth it!! WOW!! These are absolutely beautiful works of art, spellbinding to watch & the results, never the same twice open up lots of possibilities! Your doodling is so wonderful too, I really struggle with doodles which is weird as did it without thought, all the time at school. Lol.... I also don't use my 3 alcohol inks much as I find them tricky. This paper is obviously what to get even if one can't touch it? How hard is that? I would constantly forget & end up ruining effects. Although, I noticed once you were at doodling stage, you did touch, is that because alcohol has had time to evaporate? I have to also ask because of being in U.K. Where did you buy the paper from? Sorry. Spanish inquisition! Absolutely gorgeous pieces, so glad I persevered to watch. Will do my best to get more up-to-date here. Enjoy your day. Tfs. C😊

Wow my heart was bearing a lot faster watching this vid !! Scrappitydoodah, have you ever made your own alcohol ink, and if so did it work well with yuop ?

+Scrapitydoodah That is helpful. Thank you. I have also watched your video several times to see how you do it. Masterfiul!!
Hi, love your video. , thanks for sharing. What is that white pen you are using to remove the ink ? Thank you
I think she said she was using cotton swabs that she applied drops of some sort of bottled blending solution onto before drawing with it onto the alcohol spots.
So fun and colorful!!!!!
Thanks Jill. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for subscribing to my Channel. - Lynn 😀👍

+Scrapitydoodah Yeah,Im gonna try it in the next few days and let you know how it does. No need to reply.
Love it…almost like a psychedelic pop art look to it...
Inspiring work - thank you!
Thanks very much
lovely art... with what do you seal the colours ?
+debbie lemoine The colours don't need sealing. Alcohol inks are permanent and the paper is plastic. Hope this helps
Thank you for the video. I have been trying to do this using the same products as you but I just don't get anything like a circle!
That's very strange. It happens every time for me without effort. Are you sure you're using Yupo paper?
Yes the same make as you. Perhaps I need to wear gloves!
That was got a duff lot ... Spell check!
Love the music!
Thanks
Could you list your supplies somewhere. I am in the US and would like to try this. What kind of pens did you use at the end--were they alcohol pens or watercolor? Thank you. Yours are darling!
I used a Faber Castel Pitt Pen and a white Sakura Gelli Roll pen.
Can you use this paper with alcohol based markers and does it make any worthwhile difference from marker paper?
You would not get this same effect with alcohol marker pens. You could certainly use alcohol pens on the paper but whether you would get a different effect to their use on other paper I can't say as I've never tried it.
Love this. What size White Gelli Roll pen are you using?
As far as I know they only come in one size. You could use any white pen.
Please I do not understand English well. .can you Tell me please which Kind of pens you use? Thanks. Ciao from Florence
Thanks for sharing this technique!!
Thanks for watching
Very good the work
Thank you
Cotton Bud sounds good, thanks for your reply :)
Don't stress about handling Yupo.... just use alcohol to clean off the surface before painting. I keep alcohol in a spray bottle.
Thanks for the tip :)
What is the soundtrack you are playing in the background?
wonderful! do you coat the finished product with something - or else, it will all wash off??
+Joanne Destefano No it doesn't need coating with anything. Alcohol inks dry permanent. Thanks for watching :)
This works even better on heatproof acetate, and once finished you get great effects by mounting on coloured paper.
Thanks for the information. I'll have to give it a try
Beautiful, what kind of markers are you using?
+Joanne Gallant-chilton
They were Faber Castelle Pitt pens in F and XS size and a White Gelli Roll pen by Sakura
Try using a straw to blow air through, also canned air. Very different effects.
dar13rell Thanks. A couple of great suggestions. I will try that next time. TFW - Lynn
could you please tell me what markers you are using? plz...love your stuff!
Black Fabre Castelle Pitt Markers and the White Gelly Roll by Sakura
Thank you!
Great video! Thanks a lot to share your knowledge with us!!! On the other hand, I'd like to know the name of the white pen or "the tool" that appear at 21:12. Thanks!
It was a white Gelli Roll pen by Sakura. Thanks for watching
What kind of camera are you using?
Can you spray these with a fixative to make them more durable and permanent?
I would imagine that it would be OK. I've never tried it. Give it a go and see what happens
It's kind of like letting the inks guide you toward creating a pattern for a colorful zentangle.
Yes it would be great for zentangles. No two pages would ever look the same. TFW - Lynn
What do you use as a sealer for your work? Thanks.
If you wish to seal your pieces it's recommended that you use an acrylic spray product that will not yellow with time. oh ok, thank you, just beautiful.what you create..
are the metallic inks different? i feel like they don't spread as much and im wondering if its just my technique!
Yes they are different. They are thicker and don’t spread in the same way as the coloured inks. You usually only need a tiny bit to add an accent. That’s why I’ve only added it to the centre of my doodles. Hope this helps.
What are the name of the black pens?
I really enjoyed this, thank you! I missed what pens you used though. Are they fine felt tip pens?

What type of pens are you using to doodle with? I love the look
I used Faber Castel Pitt Pens size "F" and a Gelly Roll pen in white. Thanks for watching
What kind of black pen did you use? Thanks for the tips! Great video and love the music!
It was a Faber Castel PITT pen . They come in a pack of 5 or 6 and have different thicknesses. I used an "F". Thanks for watching
how do I seal the piece to prevent UV and water damage?
I'm sorry I can't advise you on that. I would suggest you ask at an art store for their most suitable product. TFW
What kind of pens were those that you used? Love those prints!
I used a Faber Castel Pitt Pen and a white Sakura Gelli Roll pen. TFW :)
Now I know what to do with the alcohol inks I've been collecting (little by little as they go on sale)!
I hope you have fun
You can clean the yupo with a swipe of alcohol. Removes fingerprints.
Yes you can do that but I prefer to keep it clean from the start if I can. Thanks for watching x
maravilhoso e delicado....parabéns !
Gracias :)
Very cool! Thanks!
Glad you liked it :)
Wow my heart was bearing a lot faster watching this vid !! Scrappitydoodah, have you ever made your own alcohol ink, and if so did it work well with yuop ?
Marie Berrill In you tube they have a tutorial how to make your own alcohol ink, with alcohol and Rye dye!
No I have never made my own ink. Thanks for watching :) - Lynn
Magda Steil Steil I have the Isopropyl Alcohol ordered , Yupo paper is expensive it would be good to know if the homemade ink works well on it :)
