it’s a coping mechanism usually taught in therapy to distance yourself from that trauma (i.e. abby)
Everyone in the old cast does. Paige, Brooke, Maddie, MacKenzie, Chloe, Kendall, and Nia all refer you Abby as “my dance teacher.” It either for legal issues, (they may not be allowed to mention Abby’s name) or because their therapist told them too.

I have it too, mine is so bad that when I play my violin sometimes my violin slips out of my hand constantly and I can’t hold it, and my violin now gets wet stains because of my sweat. I could never use my locker back in 6th grade because I would always fail at opening my locker. I’m in 7th grade now, and I’ve never ever used my locker because I will always end up late to class...
Hey! I'm late, but I play violin too and my hands are always SO sweaty. When I finish playing you can SEE the sweat on the violin 😂 + it damages strings. A lot.

Once I had a dream in 5th grade that my teacher made us all take our shirts off, for some reason. And in the dream I had forgotten to wear a bra. Not that I needed it cause I was 10,but that was like the thing or whatever. Anyway everyone got their shirts off pit I didn't do it, and my teacher got made that I wouldn't. Out of no where my friend busted into the room naked and obviously the teacher had to deal with that, so I was save.
