Ah ha.. I wondered when you'd get that! Such a fantastic model. I got mine a few weeks ago. I'm amazed I ended up getting a ship from the Kelvin universe but I really did like how this was a call back to the NX-01 (even though the guy who designed it doesn't appear to have been inspired by that at all).
The saucer windows almost seem like totally fifferent armour pannels, but anyway I love the overall moddel and it is definatly my favourite Ship that has been shown in the Kelvin timeline. All in all I think you described the moddel perfectly with, "fantastic but not perfect".
I ordered this ship as well. There's a guy on eBay who sells decals to fix the absence of red. I have a QMX model, but the quality was poor. One of the Bussard collectors was glued in at an angle and is not flat... It bugs the hell out of me... Because of that, I decided to get the Eaglemoss variant.
Part of the reason there are no red decals and pinstriping on the nacelles is because Paramount didn't send the absolute final model of the Franklin to Eaglemoss. The model they worked with wasn't finalized and thus their model ended up looking inaccurate. They go off the CGI that they're given which is great sometimes, but doesn't work out their favor all the time, hence the typos on some ships and all that.
Kind of disappointing quality wise... I mean the size of it makes the errors come out more and that's a shame. Still... When you have it sitting on a shelf by all the others in the collection I'm sure it looks nice :)
It seems that many of the latest issues and upcoming EntD and EntE are going to become modeling projects(involving masking, painting of sections and decaling windows/escape pods) in order to correct mistakes! I'm not sure if this is the mission I signed up for!
If I do decide to get this issue, I will paint out the white window printings and paint the molded windows black. They will stand out much better, I think.
One would think , the money that people pay for each model. The paint jobs on these models would be alot better. I have noticed through most all of your videos you have posted.
Haven't ordered this one yet, but I have pre-ordered the USS Titan and the USS Jenolan, can't wait for those! I just wish that Ben would stop talking about the butt-ugly 1701 refit from Beyond and focus on the 1701-A...I love Beyond, but I don't understand the reasoning behind the changes to the 1701, they took a slick muscle car and made it gangly looking.
There was already a starship class the uss enterprise kelvinverse really un original sometimes idk what I’d name it tho but not impossible what would you name the class
Besides the missing red pin striping, the weathering paint app on the warp nacelles is identical - so they look like exact copies. That really looks horrible.
1889-A/A i like model not to conserned about lack name on nacelles not this kind ship did it even make it to movie Windows you won't see it metre away good model still star fleet but a bit different than what have up to now.
I wouldnt buy that, absence of detail like the decals in red misaligned windows & Registry is weak. The formation & running lights look like they are not there or not painted. I thought there was a planetary sensor dome underneath, I must have not paid attention to this. Anyway the sauce looks short at the front giving it an Enterprise D oval shape.
Absolutely. They lost me two minutes in with the CGI talking monsters, the horrible exposition, the 1950s musical motif, the disorienting and over the top cinematography, and the george of the jungle pacing. They rubbed fresh shit on a lens and called it Trek. Into Darkness was tolerable.

Very nice but the NX-01 refit is still the finest model in the collection.
One of my favourite ships in the collection, although I couldn't help myself tackling it with a metallic silver sharpie !
Love the model of the U.S.S. Franklin!

I wish they would release a "clean" version
I tell you after this review, I'm game about acquiring he franklin. Wasn't a fan, but after seeing this review it look like a good ship to get.
Other than the similarity to the NX Class, check out TOS-era Loknar Class...
Kind of disappointing quality wise... I mean the size of it makes the errors come out more and that's a shame.

Believe me... it does look KICK ASS on the shelf! :) _\\//
I personally love the design of this ship, the weathering is good as well, but once again Eaglemoss's quality control is very questionable

I love those narcelles!

ok JJ.. but we all love this little beast... funny that
I know its weathered in the movie but I would have chose to have it look pristine paint wise
for this price point- windows should be lined up...
Finally ;) excited to see this episode!
power543 Hey Commander 😉
Frank was Justin (the director's) father.

Wait...it doesn't have a deflector array of any kind?
This ship is the closest thing to a Loknar class starship.
Reformatted NX-01
Ships a beauty.
Curious what you mean by "low res" on the cover?
Besides the missing red pin striping, the weathering paint app on the warp nacelles is identical - so they look like exact copies. That really looks horrible.
the only film of the three that I liked.
I do wish they were in scale better
Where can I buy this
can you compare this one to the NX-01?
in scale of course.
Why the wasteful gap in the saucer section of such a small vessel? Style over substance.
The saucer looks like a pierogi.
1889-A/A i like model not to conserned about lack name on nacelles not this kind ship did it even make it to movie Windows you won't see it metre away good model still star fleet but a bit different than what have up to now.
Forego leafing through the damned mags and get to the fucking models which are what people really want to see FFS!

I'm have 326
China.lol
Why do they keep releasing such shitty models with those paint jobs? Thats all horrible.
I have to say that Star Trek Beyond was fucking horrible, but I love this model, despite its flaws.
Worse than Into Darkness? Beyond felt like an apology for that mess, haha. Wasn't a perfect film by any means but Beyond felt a lot more like Trek.
Absolutely. They lost me two minutes in with the CGI talking monsters, the horrible exposition, the 1950s musical motif, the disorienting and over the top cinematography, and the george of the jungle pacing. They rubbed fresh shit on a lens and called it Trek. Into Darkness was tolerable.
Yeah it was probably the best next to the first. It felt a lot more like star trek
Can you stop saying "amm "?
Can this be pulled apart to add lights
