Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through UA-cam videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!

It's kind of hard to explain Eurovision to an American. It's just pure craziness, huge party for LGBTQ community, you never know what crazy performance you will see next, it's just a wonderful crazy event. Most watched non sport event. I think it has double the viewers then the superbowl. It's extremely unique ❤
Yep ,still consistently gets between 190-220 million viewers roughly. It was even higher I think one or two years China showed it but because they wanted to censor certain themes such as equal love ,think they're disallowed/banned from televising now.
To be clear it was a normal song contest before, it became an lgbtq fest in the last decade

I am Spanish the country that the dancer who looks like fall. It is part of the choreography. The Chiquilicuatre was a humorist that was sent to laugh about Eurovision. So yeah, that dancer was always falling on purpose

the ESC can’t be explained, you have to watch it to understand, especially the semifinals, that’s where all the fun songs are performed

Sweden always does well at Eurovision. If Sweden doesn’t finish top 5 at Eurovision something went horribly wrong.

Rhode island first to qualifier for semi final of the American song contest
Must be in the water ,Ireland has won Eurovision 7 times great 🇮🇪 community all over Rhode Island .. sadly it's 🤫 now as Ireland has failed to qualify for the seventh time out of nine entries
One or two notes, Montenegro with the Euro neuro is one of my fave non qualifiers ever , EVER! I personally never saw the idea of the euro single currency as being a good thing ,the Brits were smart to stay out. He was making a few smart points about bureaucracy, no wonder he didn't qualify ! Anyway sunstroke project yes did have the original 'epic sax guy', I'm Irish but he honestly must be one of Moldova's most famous people now ! LOL
The one with the girl falling during the performance was planned. This was a joke entry from spain (my country) and the singer is a comedian, not a real singer. All the song and the choreography was about funny things and the fall was totally planned. That girl is actually a famous comedian and actress in spain :)

My favorite Irish entry was Rock'n Roll kids. Both singers playing instruments. I'm not fond of the shock value entries.
Yeah the dancer who fell in the Spanish song (near end of video) is a comedian herself I think, so it was part of the satirical act

The Irish Turkey is singing Ireland 12 points
My favorite is Ireland (9:40). They'd won three times in a row, and therefore hosted it three times in a row. It was expensive to host so the country was going bankrupt from its success. The solution was a puppet turkey DJ rapping out of tune. They were sooo relieved to finally lose!! LOL!
What? The last time Ireland won was in 1996, but they sent the turkey in 2008. They won 4 times in the '90s but if they were actually going bankrupt, they could have just refused to host.

@@mats7492 not true ,the public have had a public vote many times in Ireland since. The country just should have pulled out for a few years ,way back in 2013 when we came last. The humiliation of Ireland in Eurovision since around 2007 is just too much

This is not a very good compilation. But I understand that those are the favorite moments of someone else, not mine.
Any connection the Eurovision Song Contest has to music is purely coincidental.
I'm guessing you must be British... And therefore a sore loser.
Israel - for the purposes of Eurovision, Israel is in Europe. It’s a member of the European Broadcasting Union and so qualifies. The Israeli TV service set up was guided by the BBC.
Australia is also participating until 2013. No doubt they suggest they couldn’t take part in Eurovision for a year because of covid and they’ll get this period extended.
We still don’t win. Our song is usually chosen by a national TV vote. We’re just not as bonkers as most of the rest of Europe (and Israel and Oz) when it comes to picking songs for Europe.
Eurovision 2022 starts May 10 for the qualifying rounds as there’s so many entrants. It goes on until 22 May, the final.

Sébastien Tellier - Divine from France in 2008 is still for me the funniest thing I have ever seen and heard. Out of tune, backing female singers dressed like Bin Laden, Cameraman is off his trolley, singer is way way way out of tune and it still beat the United Kingdom. And I have been watching this show year in year out since 1977 when the UK was defending the title and came 2nd with Mike Moran and Lyndsey De Paul's Rock Bottom, which ironically since 2003 and the Iraq war, that's exactly where the UK have been finishing
Tellier’s live performance didn’t get me at the time but I still like the song and it’s is still on my Eurovision playlist. 😊

@@MrSpookyLover Well Dublin was the annual host of Eurovision in the 90s, I think that's how it was once introduced and it's a shame with all the Eastern block voting nowadays, no wonder good old Terry Wogan gave it up, although we know there was dodgy voting before that for years. It's in Dublin that the UK last won, and I am still smarting from Switzerlands Ceilne Dion pipped Scott Fitzgerald by 1 single point in 88 considering the UK led by 6 points going into the final round and Switzerland were given 7 points and the UK nil. But still without Eurovision where would Riverdance be, let alone that weird mid session performance in the early 80s of someone setting up all these arrows across the room to hit an apple on top of his head,,,,,,,and missed.
I think the Eurovision commentary of the late great terry Wogan used to make me laugh the are best of video of them on youtube i think. I imaging the UK wont win anytime soon weve upset too many countries (there is a bit of political voting).
I think telling the rest of Europe to go fuck itself back in 2016 might have ruffled a few feathers. Even if I could, being Scottish, I wouldn't vote for the UK entries either. They are all shite.

Eurovision is contributing factor why we left the EU club. But we’ll carry on as good Europeans as it’s a good laugh and we always come last as no one in Europe likes us. For the Brits the show is a complete embarrassment and cringe, but that’s what makes it so funny. A lot of European countries actually take it REALLY seriously. 🤣
As a fellow european, let me tell you, you don‘t lose because no one likes the UK, you just send really bad songs
