What's up man! I'm active duty Air Force and we have a shop like that on base as well. Makes working on my new ST so much easier. I'm about to do my first oil change next week. Your video was very helpful! Keep up the good work, I will definitely be following you 👍🏼
+Matthew Nelson thanks for watching man! If you ever have any questions feel free to ask!
Good video. I plan on getting an ST in the future, maybe when I get back stateside so I'm def gunna sub !!
+Nick Huff (HuffTwoSeven) thanks for the SUB man. ST is a fun car and easy to modify for a car noob. Are you military?
yeah I love the ST, it will be my first turbo when I decide to pull the trigger and I plan on doing some mods like you've done. I'm pretty noobish when it comes to doing my own car stuff so i'll be checking out all your videos. Im in the AF in Italy currently.
+Nick Huff (HuffTwoSeven) Thank you for ur service! Im currently stationed star side at maxwell-Gunter AFB. Trust me you can't go wrong with the ST. It's loads of fun the drive!
I can't find any videos for coolant change/flush for FoST, any chance that you can make a vid in the future? thanks
Awesome video man !!!
Love the ST man; I've been looking for one as a commuter car. Life goes fast and I don't want a boring Civic or Corolla ... these things hold their value; was hoping to find one for $15K, but no luck.
+Krasnaludek I don't think you'll find one for about 15k maybe a 13 st1 with 60k miles might be 15k.
Thanks for the video, any chance you can make a video on how to flush the coolant? Searched on youtube and can't find any for FoST.
Thanks for the help. 👍 is there a setting that tells you when you're oil needs changing?
Yes somewhere
@@TTorres1183 I cant find it 🙈
Where do u go to use a lift n drain like that??
+VietnaMilk auto hobby shop on my base.
Question for you brother i have a 2016 also i put the bigger filter on and added 6 quarts but its reading a bit over the hash mark on the dipstick any thoughts??
I think you’ll be fine
Hi Mr Torres, nice video! I have an St 2016 and any time i punch the gas it wheel hops really bad in first and second gear, is this normal?
jescar69 thanks for watching! Yes this is very normal, the ST has a lot of torque which will cause the wheel hop. Make sure you subscribe for more great content!
Google search RMM Focus ST. I went with a Mountune RMM and there is no more wheel hop, and the gears are even smoother now. Hope this helps! :)
Michael Ros it's deff. On my list of things to get!
Replaced that mount with the COBB mount. No wheel hop whatsoever now! All the torque is getting to the pavement now. Shifts are smoother and it drives completely different than stock!
+SgtFives did you get any vibration from that mount?
why didnt u check the dipstick? should always use same model # filter as factory
+matthew buckner dipstick was checked just not filmed.
Is this lakenheath england?
Negative.
Does the drain plug require a gasket replacement?
Not every oil change, but it should be replaced if it's worn or shown signs of cracks or other problems. I usually replace mine about once every 4-5 oil changes.
Great video. Very informative :-)
+Frikkie Coetzee thanks for watching and please subscribe!
I did subscribe and I like that you work on your car yourself. In Namibia, Africa where I live we would have to pay between $200 and $500 USD for an oil change, plugs and air filter omg! And you can loose you warranty by even running a Ford Performance FMIC
+Frikkie Coetzee thanks! I couldn't afford to change my oil If it cost that much in America...! Warranty is voided is Africa is a different FMIC is put on your car?
T Torres1183 it is insane bro, I had a 3' MBRP in my previous FiST and they wanted to deny my claim for a new CV joint which had a failed boot seal they installed. We struggle here, so most guys drive 3 years & trade in. With the Cobb Stage 1 kit I have now (which was US$950 with shipping fromTexas) I am struggling to afford petrol right now haha :-). PS check out how far Namibia is.
The plan is Airtec FMIC, MBRP catless DP, MRT Axle back exhaust and Stage 3 Statified pop and crackles tune. FBO. But that ia next year after I finish my studies.
What is fitted to your car bro? The upgrade path?
+Frikkie Coetzee I have mishimoto FMIC, Roush CAI, depot racing downpipe, MBRP CATback exhaust, Boomba BOV, and rally amour red mud flaps
Use some rubber gloves to protect your hands if the motor and oil are still scalding hot. They will also protect you from the carcinogens in the old dirty motor oil. Also, you have the option of running the shorter FL-910 oil filter or the longer FL-400. Both cost about the same but the 400 provides more filtration.
Hey man! Off topic. How do you like the ST1 version? I am looking at ST2 and ST3 models, as I wanted the Sync 3. But is the ST1 stereo pretty good? Do you have any issues with it?
+Chance Brazil don't get me wrong I love my ST1 but i do wish I had got at least the ST2... I don't like the sound quality of the ST1 deff get the ST2 or higher! Smash the subscribe button if you have already :)
Bro I got you!! Subscribed a little bit ago after watching! Hopefully I will have my Tangerine Scream ST2 or ST3 no later than December :)
LOL I have already started buying parts and I don't even own one yet. Better to do this while I have no car payment lol
+Chance Brazil hell yeah man. I'm excited for you and nice color. Got a Instagram page? And thanks for the sub. What parts have you gotten already. If you ever have question about the ST don't hesitate to ask!
Yeah man! Whats your ig name? I never get on anymore, but I will check yours out!
So far, I got the Boomba racing short throw shift kit, and the alum. bushings for it. Picking up a used Roush intake from a local for $150 this coming Wed. Too good of a deal to pass it up. I had really wanted the CP-E intake because it looks beautiful, but to get an intake for $150, you cant beat that! Oh, and then a pedal spacer. I think at this point I may get Weathertech floormats made for the focus, and then I will take it easy on upgrades until I get it.
I really want to get Stratified's aux fueling after that, because I want to run full E85. Which I will need a tune as well/cobb accessport by that time.
Long term plans. Idk, maybe a EFR turbo setup, or a GTX3076R in the mix. Of course forged goodies and full bolt on's too. I want to, at a minimum, be in the 400+ dyno hp range (over time).
+Chance Brazil ttorres1183 is my Instagram name. Sounds like you got a good start on upgrades for u purchase the car. What year are you getting?
Vid just saved my ass i forgot which way the filter spun lol
Lol
@@TTorres1183 haven't driven my car in 5 months lol
Lol y
@@TTorres1183 blew a piston
...nice safety shoes!!
Why not buy the oil on base? So much cheaper. And one more thing, you should never use a wrench on the filter to tighten. just my 2 cents.
+Thomas Whitmore cause base doesn't run a deal on 5qts and a oil filter plus my speed perks rewards. Then what's the point of a oil filter wrench?
+T Torres1183 for removing not installing. hand tight is all that is needed. but honestly if you didn't crank it it's fine
+Nicholas Baldwin yeah I didn't crank it at all. I did like a quarter turn past hand tight. Be sure to subscribe if you haven't already! Thanks!
Whaaaat? Changing oil on the 16 year old Mk1 Focus is a breeze! Imagine taking off all of these shields with your back baking on hot and rough asphalt on low jack stands on a 100 degree California day.. Lining those back up again would be such a pain. A little dirt never hurt my oil pan, exhaust piping, or transmission pan. This isn't an off road car. One more thing to eventually start dragging on the ground after a few lube shops over tighten the screws and crack the shielding. This is my favorite car and no way would that be a deal breaker. Just sometimes automakers make regular service work too intimidating and intensive for the common car owner when they don't have to. Like way to go bmw for not including dipsticks on some of the models. Working on cars used to be a father son type of thing, like a tradition, and now a simple oil change is best left to the experts.
+Tyler Jones I think everyone should be able to change there oil and rotate tires. Working on cars is a passion of mine.
The recommended oil is 5w-20 i take it it's ok to use 5w-30 ?
Sure.
Thanks pal 👊🕶
Anytime
5W-20 is what is recommended for the focus S, SE and Titanium, but 5w-30 is what is used on the ST. I happen to know because I’ve owned both (friggin powershift transmission).
if you remove the cover back to front you can do it with two hands ;)
+Nicholas Baldwin lol that is true.
Another good tip for oil change noobs, is to always loosen or remove the oil fill cap while draining for a quicker drain!
If you'll never go to Ford for an oil change again, why did you go to Ford for the first oil change?
Thanks! Now that I know that u have to remove 28 panels just to replace the oil of a ST, i will go for a subaru wrx. Much easier to service
+jcmedinaceli you are just removing some clips that holds a skid plate under the oil pan
I dunno, that looked pretty easy to me. Was just one panel.
Mr. Torres, why are you not using gloves? The oil is very hot as you said (never drain your oil with a cold engine kids)
+Philip Rosenthale I didn't have any at the time... Lol. thanks for watching Phillip!
next time get medical exam gloves. also good for eating fried chicken in the car !
#quickhands
+dust bucket thanks!
You skipped the part that I came here for, loosening the filter
Wow, really hard to do a Oil Change. When you have a Lift!!!!
+Tom B it's so nice to have a life I must say :D
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Wow, that's the BEST you got??!!!
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha You Can't say Very Much!
+Tom B haters gonna hate!
Wow, you are so CREATIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Tom B just because I serve my country and they provide us with a auto hobby shop for us to work on our vehicles doesn't mean you have to talk shit. Sorry you have to use ramps 😂😂😂😂
How funny do mud flaps look like on a FWD car 😂😂😂
it's quite the trend on these cars (not something I would do) and if you drive on dirt roads a lot they would be worth it. Also, the rear tires still throw rocks, FWD or not.
I don't really understand this. Mudflaps are meant to protect your car from mud and dirt. Why y'all hate? Thats literally their only job
