  • Day 2 of main house framing and 8 days after the foundation concrete pour. With the forms stripped and the wall layout done we can now start standing up the walls. This is done by laying out the top and bottom of the wall first. The 2x8 inch boards are placed along the edge of the concrete forms in large sections. The holes for the concrete anchors are marked off on the bottom plate which is pressure treated lumber. The top plate is then placed on top and the king stud and trimmer studs are marked out for the window openings along with any structural beam locations. The top and bottom do boards are then tipped on edge and the lengths of wall lumber are placed at the correct locations and nailed into place from through the top and bottom. Once the wall has been nailed together a team of people lift it up and stand it on the concrete anchors. A little adjustment is needed to get the wall to sit exactly in place on top of the concrete anchors. We used a few shorter lengths 3-4 foot long pieces of 2x4. The base of the wall was nudged around until it fell into place on top of the concrete anchors. The next section was then added and then interior walls to give it some balance. With a few wall pieces in place a nailer plate was then added to the top which overlapped and fastened joints together to secure the structure as one piece. A few anchor bolts and washers were tightened down to secure things in place as next sections were added. Here the wall height is 9 feet.

Jason living my dream. He is way older than me and way more financially stable, and I am jealous lol. He and his wife are an inspiration. Hope one day your kids grow up and they look at my comments 😀.
