I just put a Rene Martinez lipstick pickup prewired pickguard into my old peavey predator from 1992 which is my first electric guitar (yes I’m old) and it turned my $200 guitar into one that sounds like a $2k guitar. It sounds SO good. I’m gonna put in the Rene Martinez Texas special pickups next into my Jimmie Vaughan signature Strat. Great pickups and nice video sir!
So sorry for late reply, Josh. Yes, my daughter and I assembled a guitar mill/callaham/mojotone strat. Update on the pickups...they are absolutely amazing. My No. 1 is a Tom Anderson Classic Shorty HSS with stock pickups..for playability, but these mojotone pickups tone is what I prefer. Very musical. Highly recommended.
I write songs, n music, use a Ditto looper, i find that using lighter crunch sounds for rhy parts in LOOP....are GREAT for soloing over, Its never easy getting it all, ( Hence a strat/tele/prs) I would install a coil split on HB just to kinda have it all, u can EQ your programs to get a fuller sound of the split....you sound great, those chords sound really nice! Cheers from Moravian Falls NC. Ive used MOJO for a very long time, know Andy the owner, I knew Greg Germino when he was a telephone order taker there! :)
Came from Mojo Tone with treble bleed installed ? I got the 58 with hot bridge quiet coils pick guard in my cart. I emailed them asking about treble bleed, Sweetwater is advertising the 67 version pickguard with treble bleed but not he 58.
Amazing pickups/ review! Do you mind me asking which site you bought it on? I wanna make sure since some sites would sell the same product yet one of them would be imperfect!
Hey bro, classy playing! Btw...if you had just installed these pickups on your strat pickguard, would it have been possible for you to utilize the s1 switching capabilities?
I’m dumb, I bought an ssl1 in hopes to get a humbucker and another ssl1 to put in the bridge and get an has configuration that way, but I didn’t loaded pickguards we’re a thing since I’m new to electric guitars in particular and the electronics and hardware of it
Are they really noiseless? I heard a butch of hum when you went to the single coils. I'm thinking about buying the HSS setup, still shopping around but these sound pretty good. Aloha!
I think that was caused by user error when I installed this. I soldered one of the ground wires to the pots, when I should’ve just screwed it into the proper ground socket on the volume pot. I went back and fixed it later, and that solved the problem! I will say there is a bit of hum in the 2 and 4 positions, but it’s nowhere near as bad as true single coils. Hope that helped!
Hi. I ordered the mojotone 58 quiet coil with hot bridge pickguard. Did you have any problem with volume difference between clean and drive presets? When I change to a clean preset there is a loss of gain in about -6db
Hey man, AWESOME VID! I've actually been following your channel for a while and came across this while doing research to convert my strat to HSS haha... So mind if i pick your brain for sec? Basically I recently just got a really nice loaded John Mayer esque big dipper pickguard off ebay and had it installed into my American Ultra. But recently I realized how much I would really prefer to have an HSS. Why does the realization always come after spending the money! XD. But back to my question: So I really love the neck and middle pickup that I got, but I'm having trouble deciding what humbucker to pick to get some chugginess on the bridge while maintaining some good warm clean tones on the neck and middle. And I'm also trying to debate on whether to get 250k pots vs. 500k pots. I don't think I'll be getting the 250k. However I did hear that getting 300k really helps balance things out. But any who, do you have any thoughts or suggestions? Did your mojo tones pickguard come with 500K pots? And do you feel like it brightened up the single coils too much? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'll make sure to grab you a coffee for the help haha.
hey jason! thanks so much for watching my videos!! Sorry I wish I could offer advise on this, but I'm not super knowledgeable on the intricacies of guitar wiring- that why I ordered a loaded pick guard! lol
How tight sounding is the bridge pickup for 80s metal rhythm playing? I mean i'm not expecting too much because 58 name and everything but is it clear enough in low register? I'm talking about Iron Maiden, Judas Priest etc.
john spence I can do that! Were there chords in particular you wanted to learn about? The chord progression I was playing for the clean parts is actually in my newest single I just released if you wanna check that out!
cholo po I soldered it’s to the 2nd tone pot I think. That’s where it was soldered to on the original pickguard... not sure if that’s the correct spot or whatever hahaha
You don't need to solder the ground. The solderless connector can handle two wires. You can twist the grounds from the claw and the input jack into the same hole.
YOU DID NOT HAVE TO DO ANY SOLDERING .I GUESS YOU DID NOT FOLLOW DIRECTIONS .YOU WAS SUPPOSED TO PUT BOTH OF THE GROUND WIRES TOGETHER IN THE RIGHT HOLE AND THE WHITE WIRE IN THE LEFT AND NOT SOLDERING NEEDED .

Nice job bro!!! Mojotone makes good pickups and you do em justice. 👌
Thanks Hanzo!
Great demo Josh. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing!
Glad it was helpful!
This Rocks! I am getting one this Saturday to drop into an Affinity! Cant wait to hear it. Helpful video!
Beautiful Fiesta Red color !! Amazing tones with mojotone loaded pickguard
Very good review. Thx! Watched it twice to get all the info.
Absolutely outstanding playing and demo man, gave you a sub!
thanks man! appreciate it! 🙏🏼🤙🏼
thinking about buying this to my 200 eur squier.
Great video, brother. I received the same set up; just waiting for my body finish to cure before I start installing.
Jon Gonzalez thank you Jon! I’d love to see the finished project! You making a partscaster??

Still enjoying that partscaster with this set. Very, very good. No longer have the TA, but own an R8, and R9, and these pickups hold their own.
Pretty awesome sounding.

I bought them directly from Mojotone's website!

The distribution sounds great what is it ?
Your so talented maann❤️🔥🔥
Hey bro, classy playing!

Maybe? I think It’d be possible if I understood guitar wiring lol
Leo Crasto just look up breja tone works on UA-cam he explains many different ways wire a stratocaster
New sub! Man I'm thinking of trying this on one of my strats.
Thanks for the sub! Hopefully you like the pickups!
Hi Josh, what kind of distortion do you use? Sounds really amaizing - 12:18 video . Thx :-) I am going to go buy Mojotone :-)

What strat is he playing??
Is it okay to remove the 2 single coils? Is humbucker still gonna work?
Depends on how you wire it!

It’s pretty tight to my ears!
@@JoshNamba Ok. Thanks for answering. Hard to choose between EMG KH20.
i hear a lot of noise with overdrive!😢
Are you in open tuning?
No, I think I was in drop Db (or drop C#) tuning! So that would be Db, Ab, Db, Gb, Bb, Eb
Josh Namba I loved the chords! Beautiful
nambasaurus you need to do a video tutorial on those chords. The voicings would be a great thing for your subscribers and me to learn
john spence I can do that! Were there chords in particular you wanted to learn about?

Josh Namba I loved the chords at the beginning of the video when you are going over the pickup selections of the old pickguard
Which strat is that bro? thx
Fender Deluxe strat- I think from 2013?
does yours have a treble bleed circuit?
I think so? I’m not too sure tbh
I don’t know what kind of amp you have but it doesn’t sound good to me.

Electric Gypsy by Andy Timmons!
