  • Here is one in a set of 5 videos about the Alber e-fix 25 which is the forerunner to the e-fix 35. This chair is a real classic for off-road driving. It has the ability to overcome a wide variety of obstacles. In some ways this chair is unrivalled and hence it's still being sold second hand around europe. If you can get hold of one of these models in the UK you will still be able to get a wide variety of the parts by searching for parts for the Invacare Esprit. The battery, charger, electrics and controls are interchangeable on these two devices. So it's still worth buying. Also, this chair just simply does not run out! I can't stress it enough. I was stupid enough to swap this chair for the updated e-fix 25 which I also review on this chanel (please see my review). However, the e-fix 35 has qualities of it's own though being run by a small computer it does not allow for as many stunts as the original e-fix 25.
If you have any questions please leave them below and I will try to answer. Please see the playlist Alber e-fix 25 for other videos and and a bigger picture.

thanks for your review, I've been recommended the alber e-fix power add on. I've been unsure about it. but it sounds pretty good. now I just need to get the right wheelchair to go with it.

Hi Lonnie, it should go on your current wheelchair. However, if you don't have a wheelchair at all and you are having to buy both the wheelchair and the unit from scratch I would recommend the Invacare Esprit which is made by Alber and is effectively the same but with smaller wheels and a battery pack you have to take off. However, if you don't already use a suitable manual chair and you are looking to power up then I would recommend a powerchair such as the Q200r for rural and country areas or the Q100 for town centres. Why have you been recommended the Alber wheels out of interest? I'm asking because it's a very specific unit to go for and expensive to run and maintain due to Alber not being the most helpful company in the world.

I was recommended Alber wheels because of my size and lack of mobility and strength. My physical therapist recommended it. We went to the supplier the other day to try it all out. I'm getting a wheelchair also made by Alber as it was the one I tried and worked well for me. Can't remember the exact name of it atm.

@@wheelchairgeek the wheelchair in getting is the I Incacare Action 4ng HD

Actually, the wheelchair in this video is a Action 4ng. I now have the e-fix 35 and it's on a Action 3NG but I have been prescribed an Action 4ng as my back-up chair. The only thing you have to be careful of is if they prescribe you a chair seat wider than 50cm or 20inches and you add the wheels on top it will be harder to get through doors. I had one very nearly almost 20" which was fine to get through, but the one I have now is slightly wider and so struggles. If you are given just under 20 (which the 4ng does do) then you will also be able to get on buses with the unit. Otherwise you won't, you will have to fold to get on. Let us know how you get on. The 4NG is a chunky chair but robust.

Not really. I've taken all my second hand chairs over this slope, it's very bad and looks better than it is. If you don't come off here then you're sorted. The old original Alber e-fix 25 kits were just brilliant on slopes. Second to none. Sadly the new e-fix does not quite cut it.
I'm too ill to drive these now However as I have no abdominal strength. So this is a few years old now.

Thanks Adam. Sorry I missed this comment. This particular one is actually an Action 4NG. Not the most attractive chair but very, very stable for Alber e-fix! I hope that help?
