@@grkfunn5821 i'd recommend Replicant ver 1.22 first then Nier automata. Due to there is a lot of reference you will only get if you played Replicant first.

this whole raid was straight up a love letter to the entire DrakneiR franchise

I know the song name is "Despair" but i hear some triumphant in it, almost an hero theme for Emil, almost celebranting Emil's strength and resilience after all the years of endless and lonely battle
In the end of the quest Emil remembers his friends and can have some peace and be himself again, and we, the characters and us as players as well, are friends of Emils and are helping then to fight his trauma and recover his personality
I know this is very optimistic for Nier, but is the way i feel when i though about the quest
A little late maybe but that might because there are 2 songs for Emil (if I am not mistaken that is) plus a mission called Emil's determination. That most likely is why you hear triumphant tones on it since this song not only captures his sadness but also his will to not let the world he saved with his friend to be destroyed.

I disagree we're stopping a grotesque queen, we may be hurting some people but in doing so we're saving untold worlds.
I don't think there are any villains in NieR. Both sides are fighting for their own reason. If anything, the God from Drakengard is the true villain

@@HackersSun While Nier ruined everything for everyone, I must say..well.. Popola could've just..you know..LIED to him. Tell him that fusing with the Shadowlord is the only way to save Yonah for example.
Well in this instance it isn't a real shade, more like a recreation of one made by machine network (which also seems to be recreations of original network via Seed of Destruction) made by pulling whatever data about shades remained after the events of Replicant, not to mention it also exists only in digital dimension of the Network and not in physical world. So I'd say killing this particular shade isn't any worse than killing the Red Girl

It's from Automata and is a "secret" boss fight in that game. You have to acquire and upgrade every weapon to max if I remember.
Knave of hearts is a giant shade in replicant, the song is from a secret hard to get sidequest in automata

not that I've seen, it sounds a bit like Latin and something else which is probably why there isn't an English translation
It's a late answer but the language is self made. You can try to learn it and translate it yourself

Why is someone making up lyrics for nonsense sounds that are just supposed to sound like words?

It's the chaos language. It's a made up language that a bunch of the Nier songs are sung in. He didn't just make them up. Pretty interesting if you wanted to look it up.
there are not "nonsense sounds" per se
these _are_ actual lyrics, and they probably have meaning too, but no one except Emi Evans can confirm it (the singer from NieR who made up the "chaos language")
It’s “The Chaos Language” created by the singer of NieR Automata. They are made up of dozens of other languages so no they are not made up, they are real words.
