- I usually film pretty low effort videos because time- and energy-wise, that is all I can spare for youtube. THIS required a lot more work though. I am not someone who can naturally speak for 2 hours, so dang was this exhausting plus there were unanticipated tech issues...it appears neither my SD card, nor my macbook are equipped to handle 2h of HD footage LOL. So, I had to record this twice. Hope you enjoy, I did my best!

There is something about Midnight Sun that just gets me as well. The beauty of it is the fact that it is versatile and it is not a one note color story. Whenever I open it I still get a sense of whimsical intrigue and dark romantic inspiration. I adore it. I love all of her Motherships to be honest, and as you have said as our tastes and moods change our favorites shift. For me it’s Subliminal and Midnight Sun.
Midnight sun is underrated! It's gives me autumny, mediterreanny vibes.
Midnight Sun was a slow burn for me…like falling in love with your best friend of 10 years. But then the love is strong because it has a solid foundation.
As I sit here I am so excited to use every one of my Pat palettes. Hearing you passionately describe each palette is just 😍. It makes me wish I could wear 3 different looks each day! Last year I did a challenge to myself that every day I use a different Pat palette and it was so fun. I tried to use colors I don’t usually use in each palette. You’ve inspired me to do it again starting tomorrow. Yay!

I’ll never forget how I found your channel years ago: your review of Midnight Sun. So it feels kind of full circle to have it ranked so high! I loved this video because it really reminded me of all the beautiful palettes I already own and gives me inspiration to pull out the ones I haven’t used in a while. This content reinvigorates my love for the brand and this special formula! Thank you Mariam, I’m sure it wasn’t easy to rank all of these, but it’s honestly one of my favorite types of videos to watch.
It has the same effect on me, so today I am wearing some of my older palettes. Midnight Sun was definitely a slow burn for me but we finally got there. The love is real 🥰.

Thats a good idea, she could maybe to them as single shadows if she thinks she doesnt sell her bigger palette with too many bold shades. I really want the green/blue from 2022 holiday palette, but I could not justify getting the whole palette for that shade 😅

Ok, now that I have seen your top 3, the biggest shock for me was the fact, that not all 3 were motherships. My top three are Moonlit Seduction on third place, Divine Rose 1 in the second, and Divine Rose 2 in the first place.

Yeah, this was fun and informative. Many surprises! It is true, our makeup preferences change over time. You have inspired me to use my Interstellar Icon quad. Only used it once since I purchased it. My faves are Divine rose 2, Midnight sun, Fleur fantasia and voyaristic vixen. I love your look today, you look very pretty. Thanks for another great video. I think changing our style over time is fun. Gives us the opportunity to play around with different aspects of makeup.

Lol! I'm a muslimah and I wear scarves and long (modest) dresses - I've added so many scarves and dresses to my collection to match my pats eyeshadows haha! My latest haul consists of shades to match the divine rose 1 🤭

I must tell you that now I have learned to trust only your opinion ( in the PML field ok 😅) so if Mariam tells me to get something, I run I don't walk ok? And if you decide that something is a pass then pass it is. It is so easy to get carried away with all the hype of the new launches but I know I can count on you to ground me and manage cleverly my Pat expenses.
For example, it's all thanks to you that I got my hands on bronze bliss 😊 and I even snatched the latest divine bronze quad even it was another neutral "boring" eyeshadow palette from my point of view. But if Mariam says it has something interesting enough to be worth adding to our Pat's collection, it is! That's how much I trust your opinion.

So, I would recommend to try the free trials of a few different note keeping apps to see which ones fits you best. The one I use is called Paper. I really enjoy all the features and it’s quite easy and intuitive to use. And, it was not expensive either!

This made my day! I spent all morning cleaning and decided to take a break. I was so happy my favorite creator had posted a video with my favorite content- and it was long! I must say I wasn’t that surprised with your ranking as I have noticed you wearing more neutrals lately. Midnight Sun has been my number one for a while now, as I love it’s versatility. My second favorite is Subliminal. I adore everything about that cool-toned loveliness. Third place would have to go to Subversive, because I feel like it really compliments brown eyes. Thanks for spending so much of your free time making this video!
I also like to keep track of my makeup on my iPad, I like to play with eye looks on the app called Procreate. I upload a palette and have some glitter brushes that I goof around with. Procreate is the best app I have ever purchased and highly recommend it for anyone with an iPad!

Love the video! I am glad you pointed out that yes, the shades can be beautiful and unique but they dont always show up flattering on your skin tone. I am very pale and some deep, rich shades are beautiful but turn muddy on me and look blah with my skin tone.
Yessss so much yes!! There’s a reason why people lean into different palettes as their favorite…intrinsically we can see what flatters us most. For me, it is mostly warm tones.
Not meeeee, that’s my absolute favorites as well! It’s WONDERFUL for all of fall, but also so great for a good 90’s vibe, and that deep blackened brown?! Love. For all the reasons you said as well.

Thanks so much for this!!! I have the Interstellar Icon and never tried Golden Polaris and I was speechless!!! This is really such a pretty shade!!! Combined it with the shifty blue and pulled from Nocturnal Nirvana the teal shade… it’s perfect 😍 Also, I love the Gold in Nocturnal Nirvana because I think it makes sense with the green, it reminds me of a mermaids tale shifting in green and gold on the sun. The purple is the one I am having problems implementing in this color story. Honestly this channel has been so helpful in my Pat Mcgrath journey ❤️
Try using the purple as a liner, it is how I use it...otherwise I find it too dark and dry.

I’m so happy that someone could appreciate the beauty of decadence. It came to my collection only very recently and although it lacks special shades, all the colors in this palette are stunning. Too sad it is removed from Pat’s website (I guess that means it is discontinued because it had not been selling well). Love your efforts putting into this video!
I so agree with you regarding the beauty of decadence ❤😊 it was my first mothership & I love it so much I got a second one in the SW gold packaging … I think it’s finally been removed from pats site because decadence was supposed to be LE 😂 I say “supposed” to be because that’s how many times she’s brought it back 😅 & I’m sure that it’ll never truly ever be completely gone IMHO & we will def see her come back yet again 😂
I agree with you guys 100%! Decadence was my first Pat McGrath palette and I LOVE the shiny metallic colors so much! I have plenty of mattes to pair with it, if I want, so I don't find that to be an issue. Wonderful video!

Thanks for this therapeutic video!! I am not too surprised by your choices :) My top 3 are Huetopian Dream, Bronze Bliss, and Midnight Sun. I want to love Subliminal, but too cool toned for my skin tone- I love playing with it, but my looks do not come out as pretty as the ones with the warmer tones. I want to get Divine Rose II during the next big sale!!! That peachy matte shade is calling my name.

I loved this super long video! Thanks for putting in the time and effort to make this ranking video. I thought I would absolutely hate Huetopian Dream because of how warm it is so I added it later in my collection, but I've been pleasantly surprised and proven wrong by how much I enjoy the looks I get from it! I've been able to do a variety of looks that I love with it too. I felt like Decadence wouldn't be used often as well because it doesn't have any special shades, but I find myself using it a lot because of how beautiful and smooth the metallics are!
I have the feeling that has been a shared experience among many regarding HD. I think too many UA-camrs gave it the label “another pink palette from Pat sighhhh” which it is not. I’m glad to see so many of you have discovered it!
I wish PMG would rerelease her earlier 6-pan palettes. I got into PMG when they weren’t available anymore. The palettes that have been coming out as of late are underwhelming (for me) and I gravitate to earlier color stories.
Yes, I have not seen these palettes before, and they look so much more fun than whats she has been releasing the last years!

My 1 is subliminal. 2-Midnight Sun. So under appreciated. It is also Alicia’s favorite. 3-decadence. After that is a blur. I would need to open them all to figure it out. 😱🤣😎

I would never have imagined spending a fortune on ‘just eyeshadows’ Guess who had to eat their words🫣 My first palette was Divine Rose 2 and like an addict, I was hooked. My top picks are Celestial Odyssey, Midnight Sun, Divine Rose 2 + 1 and Subversive. Subversive really took me by surprise- IMO it is pure creative genius!

Hutopian dream was the last mothership I bought, dragged my feet because I just bought a bunch of the motherships, but it’s is my FAVORITE eyeshadow palette! I regret not getting it sooner lol each shade sparks joy every time I use it. ❤ p.s. I’m shocked you ranked midnight Sun where it is! I need to get more love out of it, it’s definitely not been in the center stage for me. 😂
Trust me, no-one was more shocked than I was but here we are. I have been using it a lot this past year so it earned its places as the new favorite. Huetopian Dream is awesome dude! I feel like it almost went a bit under the radar but it’s a glorious palette.

I know there is a color combo for your go to look but I wasn't expecting it as winner but that's probably mainly because I don't use my Midnight sun palette (I should really sell it lol) and I was projecting :D. My favorite is Sublime. Love me some cool tones.
I was also pretty surprised to see Subliminal and Decadence so high! But I totally understand..VR nectar is such a stunner (Devinah Tucana and Terra Moons Venus should be very close but of course Pat's baked shade has no true rival)

I just ordered sublime and subliminal ( I think the palettes are #1 and #2?) and I am so excited to get them. They are so dang expensive they better be wonderful. I’ve only ever had Mac and colourpop eyeshadows so this should be next level…

It’s funny how I was looking at the new Pat McGrath pallet, which I’m sadly not gonna buy because of the same reasons everybody’s complaining about… absolutely a lack of artistry for this new SUNLIT Seduction I believe it’s called.. IF YOU HAVE DIVINE ROSE ONE AND TWO, YOU DO NOT NEED THIS PALLET. HOWEVER, AS A COLLECTOR, I’M REALLY TORN.
Anyway, I guess since I was looking at videos with the new pallet, your video came up on my feed … I really enjoyed your commentary on the pallets.

Like you, I have light slightly olive skin tone in my eyes are brown… I look like I have the flu when I wear those color shades on my lids.
As I am disappointed with Pat new pallet because I feel like she just doesn’t give a crap about what her customers have been asking for while she’s charging top dollar…
As you went through, your pallets really brought to my attention how are repetitious her shades are.. so many Rosie, burgundies, and so many golds from palette to palette to palette…
Well, hopefully this holiday season, she’ll put out some thing that we could all be excited about and enjoy.

Uau Mariam what a task! I love to see what each person thinks of mother's palettes. For me it's huetopian dream, sith seduction and decadence. ( 4th would be the golden one from star wars 2 collection - which i absolutely loved!) All of these bring me the most joy, but like you and many others I don't think Pat has done a really bad palette . Loved this 1 hour video so thank you for your effort and time taken! Would love to see a video about your favourite blushes from the brand also! Have a lovely day :)
Honestly I love every blush from her that I own. Really depends on color preferences. Are you looking into getting one?

This is such a tough thing to do because so many of PML’s palettes are AMAZING! My current favorite (and most used) is Moonlit Seduction, Mothership X; but I ALWAYS wear it with Mothership I (Subliminal). My second favorite is the quad Interstellar Icon. After that, I’d probably go VII (Divine Rose I) and V (Bronze seduction)(I’m a cool toned neutral girl at heart)!
Wow so cool to hear from someone who loves Interstellar Icon! I rarely hear about it and it was my favorite from that release.
This is the first video I’ve watched on your channel and even I was shocked to see Subversive rank so low! Lol
In light of new developments, aka Sunlit Seduction, trust me I regret this choice. Also my ranking is very whimsical and depends on the specific moment. In my first ranking in 2020, Subversive was #2 so don’t read too much into it.
I'm also kicking myself for not getting a backup of bronze bliss. It's such a stunner. Like liquid metals
I’m still debating if I need one. As a general rule for myself I don’t buy backups of eyeshadow.
So what do you think of pairing Sith Seduction with the NARS climax palette? I think the colour stories have similarities that could combine well.

I don’t have a wet lab so my notes are a little less formal. I flip-flop between digital and analog. I love my IPad for conference notes, papers, and reviews. I still use paper for day to day notes, but that’s mostly because I love fountain pens and paper. The digital format is much more efficient but the tactile sensation of note taking is eternal.
Ahh love for pens and fountain pens is why I resisted for so long. But!! This has so many other advantages that I had to make the move!

Gorgeous ranking video! I love seeing the palettes that are obviously being used. The rankings of pristine, barely used palettes do not speak to me 😅 Thank you so much, this was a fun watch. I have a question for you: if all the special shades from the Motherships were also sold as quads, which would you buy - the quads or still the full motherships? Is the answer the same for all Motherships or only just for some of them?
I also side-eye Pat (or any brand really) palette rankings with basically new palettes.
I view them as very different categories. The Motherships are meant to teach you something new…combining colors and textures in new ways. The blitz quads are a party but much less versatile compared to a mothership.

I am so glad you’ve ranked Decadence so high. I love it so much and it’s usually everyone’s least favorite mothership. But the shades are amazing and I reach for them all the time!

My most used 3 Pat palettes are currently Fleur Fantasia, Subliminal and Celestial Nirvana. But as favorites-I can’t really say. It makes me sweat to think of ranking these beauties because I love them all in their own way!

Wow, I really love her older palettes form 2018! She went more bold with the colours then. Midnight sun is my favorite as well; I have soon hit pan on the light brown and the light upper left shade ❤The only shade I dont use is the green as it pulls dark/not green on my lid. This is also the case for the green in the mini retro paledde from ND so maybe its just my skin tone. I have owned bronze seduction, huetopian dream and moonlit seduction and nocturnal nirvana but since I didnt love enoug of the shades on me (compared to how much they cost), I sold them. I have voyeristic vixen which I love and the first bridgerton palette. I have not sold these so its a sign that I do really like them 😅 She needs to make more palette with the baked mattes from the bridgerton palette!
Maybe if you use a coloured base on your lid, the green shade will show up as green? I actually really love that tone of olivy/ khakhi greenness!
I know what you mean and I miss the Pat who made collections like the 2018 one. But you never know, she’s full of surprises.
If you have Gigabyte or the alternative in Bridgerton 2 to mix with the olive from Midnight Sun, you will definitely see the green peek through more.

Oooooo so much to unpack here:
1. I can see your point, although I wouldn't include Decadence in here.
2. I usually quite like her 6 pans, no idea about the Love collection...didn't try anything from it. They are made in different labs: Motherships and Bridgerton in Italy, all other 6 pans in US. Actually quite liked the satin baked shades, too bad they are all colors I don't like all that much.
3. Again different labs. The baked blitz/astrals are made in Italy, so it the Vixen quad. Personally, I disliked the quads from 2021, but I love the ones from 2020. I have never really had much issues with any of Pat's formulas overall, although I can tell the subtle differences.
4. I can see why you might feel that way about HD. These formulas would not be everyone's taste.

Ok so I have hope of the 2019 blitz astral quads making a return. PML did a recent GWP featuring nocturnal nirvana and it arrived in new packaging and in the new pan size.
I have heard people that has the old and the new saying they are not exactly the same, that the green lacks something in the new. I got it but I was not that impressed so I sold it

@@kristinegustavsen4209 to be honest from what I have seem people are splitting hairs. They look pretty identical to me. Minor batch to batch differences are always a factor but other than that all the shades look 99-100% the same.
I own the new one, also got it just recently - they look identical to the swatches I see in youtube reviews. Also, the dark purple is of wonderful quality. I heard in some older palettes it could be dry, but in the new one it's top-notch. I lament the old luxurious packaging tho. But I'm happy at least she restocked them at all - they meant to be a limited edition, strictly speaking.
I so wish the star wars divine droid palette was still sold - I love the colours :(
