What a great video and thorough explanation of PMs formulas!!! Perfectly explained!! Fantastic video. Really appreciate the education and you showing the evolution of the formula from earlier palettes to current ones. We use so many products without knowing really what they are and how best to use them. As an example, skincare- what to use, what it does, when to use it, how to layer it, what to expect from it, etc. Also makeup brushes- why do we need so many, which one to use for which part of the face, best one for lay down vs blend, etc. I enjoy educating myself on the why’s and how-to’s so this video is perfect for me. Be safe and enjoy your holiday!!

New subscriber here. Thanks so much for this video! I learned alot from your explanation of these palettes. Much appreciated! I have the Divine Rose 1 and 2. I’m looking to pick up Midnight Sun. I hope it’s still on sale on PML’s site.
Thank you for your video! I was thinking to try her earlier releases as color stories are so interesting in the earlier ones imo, but I will look to her future stuff. Difficult mattes are rough (don't want to do heavy duty blending or babying for the price).. I really like divine rose II's quality and color story, especially the 2 mattes (so pigmented and blendable), though glitter fallout is real. Hope she either reformulates her older releases or gradually moves away from rosy/pink-ish color stories. Also don't enjoy Pat Mcgrath's artistry wand, not very tacky imo, better off using nyx glitter glue or fyrinnae epoxy (products mentioned in vid, not nec recommended). If you are interested more in the specific multichrome/shimmer/topper included in her palette rather than the color story, I recommend indie brands like clionadh, terra moons, shine by sd, sydney grace, and touch of glam (caveat: can have longer shipping time, longest being touch of glam --> 3 months). Indie brands sell to a different audience and in my experience, have superior formula and are shinier and shiftier than any mainstream brand I've tried (Natasha Denona, Danessa Myricks, Pat Mcgrath are ones I've tried), though cost per shadow is pretty comparable to high end.
It’s not like they are really hard to work with but a lot of them are also deeper tones, so if you’re lighter in tone, they are very intense. However, they are still very buildable. Oh surprised to hear about the artistry wand…I actually didn’t find it to be that different to Epoxy. I tested them side by side in my Huetopian Dream review. I will forever be an Epoxy girl. Sad I had to give it up. Ohh that’s very sweet of you but I have dabbled a lot into indies. They can make some beautiful shades. Personally I find Clionadh to be a bit overhyped considering the costs and wait time. And again, to me, nothing compares to the baked shades from Pat and I love that these formulas brought something new to the table.

This was so helpful! Thank you. I’m also interested in understanding how the shimmer/metallic shades on the left side of the palette have transformed over the years. I own only Subversive and Bronze Seduction, and I’m pretty disappointed in those shimmer shades. The Skinshow shades and Lazarus are fine. I’m speaking more specifically about Gilty Pleasure and Bronze Blaze from Bronze Seduction, and Night Creature and Black Metal from Subversive. They are rather dry and hard to work with. I also find that the base pigment and shimmer particles don’t seem to work together. For some, only the base pigment “sticks” and others I only get the shimmer. I have heard people say that the metallics from later palettes, such as Huetopian, are much improved and practically feel like a cream. Would you agree?
I actually don’t have an issue with Bronze Blaze, only the taupe one is a bit meh. Hmm too bad Night Creature is giving you issues mine is really nice. Not a molten metallic but still has a good texture and payoff. I am guessing some batch differences between palettes.

Hi! I have come across your videos before, and I was wondering about it, but now it popped again in my mind... what is your ethnicity? If you don't mind sharing of course!
I have to agree with you on what I’ll call a BAIT and switch. Marketing and annoying in the least. I AM now better prepared. If the special shades are the draw I wonder why she doesn’t just allow her customers to pick exactly what they want? If baked shades then make a few quads each year with 3 baked and one perhaps a new introductory formula for her customers to try.
Yeah the million dollar question…why is is she no longer making those blitz/astral quads…I have the feeling it might be sourcing of materials during covid. I sure hope she’s not phasing them out in favor of cheaper formulas.
@@mariam.a. I hope not but EVERYONE was looking for ways to make product less costly through CV19. I just strongly feel her mistake is the customer keeps buying and having even one shade you can’t use or is inferior in some way is costly. 🤷🏼♀️for me it makes me mistrust ESPECIALLY when there’s no transparency.
I appreciate your breakdown... but u confused me with your use of the word "opaque", when talking about the blitz formulas...what did u mean? Because how can something e opaque and pigmented. I feelnlike that's a paradox that cant exist! I understand opaque as being like, see through, almost. Would you please clarify?
If I am not mistaken opaque means not transparent so I mean it in the sense that it’s a shade with a strong base color so not suitable to be used as a topper.
Thanks for nerding out on PMG eyeshadow formulas. Very helpful. I have the first 10 mothership. Not getting the XI. I am boycotting further mothership pallets unless she goes back to the artistry of Baked Shadows and a new color story. Pat’s corporate investors are ruining and cheapening her brand. 😡🤬
I honestly think she is trying to save money on quality while increasing prices due to pandemic and now inflation in the world. Every new mothership starting from mothership 8 contains less special or baked formulas while the price is even higer! Those special shades in my opinion are what makes this palette so expensive and worth of that price range. I am afraid she will continue this trand in the future
The palette is only 3$ more expensive in reality. Don’t forget she gave us 3 baked shades in the Bridgerton palettes so those are not gone. Not sure why she chose non-baked here. I hope it’s not a permanent change.
@@mariam.a. I understand that but i was thinking about motherships specifically. They are most expensive therefore they should be most special in formulas. I understand is only 3 dollars in USA but here where i live motherships are now 160 euros and in this last mothership10 there is only one baked shade and i am not a fan of this extra glittery special shades. I have to be objective and think about the number of shade formulas i am going to use while paying this new price. 😊

I am Armenian ethnically speaking. Born and raised in Bulgaria, currently residing in the Netherlands.
I get annoyed by the naming conventions being subverted as well! But I’m still buying as long as the color story is interesting.
Pretty much the same yes 🤣.
🖤
💕
It's actually called Blitz Sextreme. She never called it a VR. Still loving your Pat McGrath Labs content 💙🤩
Ah true that is correct! And yet it is incorrect naming, because this shade is also not a blitz. It’s just a metallic 😉.
@@mariam.a. thank you. That makes more sense to me now! >___
Thanks so glad to hear you enjoyed the nerd out!
Aaahhh I feel you!!
I think that VR means virtual reality, and it refers to the dual chrome shadows.
Thanks I know what VR stands for 😉.
GAME CHANGER
Glad to hear it’s helpful!
