This song is for the most beautiful dog named Charlotte. She just passed away last July 23, 2024. I never thought that losing her would be this devastating. I miss her a lot. Her tiny paws, lovely eyes, cute smile, her unique bark…I cry everytime I hear this song.

This song was actually dedicated to a girl name Laura Carter. A 18 year old college student killed by a stray bullet in the early 1980s.
Wasn't she a friend of his college girlfriend? Hence the line "a friend of a friend." I wonder if they ever found the guy who fired the gun? I can't imagine how I'd feel if I did something like that by accident. I'd force myself to listen to this song every day to punish myself.

July 2, 2023 - Sunday afternoon. I first heard this song in March 1983 when a close friend told me that it would make me cry, and she was right. My best friend ever in my life died in a tragic accident when her car went off the road violently throwing her out the dtiver door and down a ravine and her car landed on top of her killing her. I've always loved this song and I am going to sing it karaoke or maybe live accompaniment guitar or piano. I have 4 days to practice for the celebration of life and honor of a woman who had untreatable illness for 7 months and passed 2 months ago. Her fiance, soulmate over 22 years is heartbroken but is coping with the grief process. His and our wonderful memories of Julie will be celebrated with music and Fred's blues band will soon headline at a popular Blues Fest in SW Ohio. I can tell by the length of this comment, I have some writing to do and I should set a timer since there does not seem to be a number of characters in the comment rules here.
