but that’s what her fans love i guess. btw it’s called powerful belting. ariana used to « scream » as well in her my everything era but oh well 😭 anyways your comment is very cliché but i love discussing such opinions demi is just living her rockstar fantasy right now 😭 she has a new placement. she rearranged her pop hits etc. so yeah she will « yell »
i’m tempted to compare ariana and demi because they’re both references - to me and to this generation. they’re both vocalists, and pop divas, so their main appeal isn’t emotion. people would even say ariana shows off. she only wants to impress the public. she’s a crow pleaser etc. i agree tho, demi doesn’t emote lately. she keeps relying on belting & high notes, and doesn’t explore other aspects / parts of her voice. she is nasal etc. ariana doesn’t emote either, unless the song calls for it. and even then, she tends to shy away from emotional songs especially sad/gut-wrenching ones - to avoid breaking down on stage. however, she stands out in my opinion. she has a divine tone (objective ? no but it’s safe to say so). she will manipulate her tone/timbre accordingly. moreover, she has an immaculate musicality, which enables her to change notes, adlib non stop! she is agile etc. so basically she is stylistically superior. and she has a better technique (e.g vibrato lol) - she was trained, contrary to demi. reminder : demi was very soulful back in the 2010s. and let’s not forget the countless songs she has made, advocating for mental health, sharing her journey etc. and more importantly, she is a talented vocalist, so she deserves her 10s
@@whoevr ngl demi got quite shouty. Her belts from G#5-C6 are pretty powerful but also shouty af. At least Ariana in 2015 mixed her notes to make them more appealing and she has a pretty pleasant and light voice, however Demi can show a lot of power in her voice I just didn’t like a lot of her performances in 2023 compared to 2022.
@@grandevocalsss9693 yup well demi mixes (more) too now but she just sounds yelly no matter what 😭 it’s the same ole light (ariana) vs powerful (demi) voice i agree BUT ariana sounded yelly in most of her award/tv performances. plus she was overworked back then so probably fatigued! she had some nice G#5-Bb5s but a lot of the times she was yelly. i think, her going through her dw era technique, was a NEED lol. her ME era way of singing wasn’t sustainable lol. sw/tu era is the balance between both!

constant screaming with no emotion behind her singing... so meh
I mean rock is kinda like that and I think she can have a lot of emotion without sounding shouty in many of her songs 😭
