  • This was a short tow of a Jeep Patriot that supposedly "almost caught on fire." I found the vin number covered with tape like it was up for repo, but was still able to see the numbers underneath. I got it loaded up on the Collins dollies while talking about a conversation I had with ‪@Fasttowpro‬ about the time difference between a rollback and wrecker.

    When families have financial trouble the banks send us to repossess each other's cars. When banks have financial trouble, families bail them out with $8 Trillion in free TARP taxpayer money.

    Somewhere on UA-cam I saw a video of a guy giving tips on how to not get your vehicle repossessed. It was comical to say the least. One of his tips was cranking your steering wheels hard to the left or right and that would stop the repo man from getting you. There were a couple other suggestions that were funny as well. And all of them still would've gotten him repossessed in the end if he were up for repossession.

    Its the same old story. 1) Don't make your payments and live in fear of the repo man. 2) Never do any maintenance and complain when it blows up. 3) Have it towed (with borrowed money) to your residence and let it sit until the apartment management company fines you. 4) Go to the buy here pay here lot and repeat.
    Besr case (Best is a relative term) you have been mostly on time with payments. The vehicle blows up. You have it towed to the car lot where they use it as a downpayment on a new to you ride. They don't want to lose the cash flow. Its like a lifetime warranty.

    So I'm confused European here: what is a repo guy? Given the context it sounds like someone taking vehicles that are incorrectly parked or something? But doesn't the police handle that sort of thing over there?

    • @CaseyLaDelle
      @CaseyLaDelle  2 роки тому +4

      Repossession. When someone has a loan on a vehicle and doesn't make their payments, the lender hires a repossession company to find and take the car.

      Repo men mostly work for banks and other financial institutions here to reclaim their assets (cars, pickups, boats, semis, etc). That they have loaned money on.. I've done a few and disliked it because it took too long to get paid for them..
