  • Yes, I know the audio is absolutely terrible for part of this video, but by the time I realized it it was too late to do anything about it, and this story was worth leaving it in. To make a long story short, as I don’t want to put someone else’s personal troubles out to the world, this woman was in the middle of a move to a new state to try to create a better life for herself, when she was involved in a pretty bad car wreck. A lot of things went wrong for her all at once, life went sideways, and she ended up living in her wrecked car in one of the most expensive areas on the west coast for a few months. Through quite a bit of effort, she was able to find a place to live, but had no way to get her car, that contained everything she owns, to that new place. I told her I would tow it for free and that she wouldn’t owe a thing, but when I got there she still tried to give me the last $7 she had. Of course I refused it, and she was overwhelmed with happy tears at the sight of all her belongings finally safe, and the fact that someone would simply do something just to help her without wanting anything in return. Her day completely turned around when I brought her the car, and I’m sure it will rise up even more when she opens that door. I can only hope that that good momentum keeps carrying on for her and she gets to the place she wants to be.
Thank you to all of you who watch these videos, because you are the ones who allow me to do things like this for others. You deserve the credit, not me.

My best electronic repair ever was a hot water kettle, the lady brought it in to me she was in her late 70's, her husband had passed away 2 years earlier and she told me that every day since they had gotten married they spent the morning having tea boiled water in the kettle and spent that moment together before they had to start their days. I spent alot more time and effort rebuilding the kettle than most people would have suggested be reasonable, but it meant her world that if she couldn't have him in person at least every morning she could have tea from the kettle they had shared for so long. its not about the time it takes its about the time it represents.

NOT stating this to toot my own horn just letting Casey know that others are out there helping as well! Last Christmas there was a lady here in similar circumstances and we paid a week in a motel and groceries for a week to help her get back somewhat on her feet, others also assisted and paid for subsequent weeks until she was able to sustain on her own!!

I watch UA-cam videos a lot when it is so cold outside, and some of these are road-rage videos. It amazes me that a lot of these wrecks are caused by somebody not letting somebody in, or out. What is gained be being an ass-hat to someone that is just trying to go from point A to point B? Will it cause you problems to give that person 3 seconds of your day? So many wrecks can be avoided by just being a little more forgiving. I do not want to leave the impression that I am always following my own advise, BUT, I am trying to be a better me.

My wife and I were going fishing one time in Nevada, and along side of the road was a car with a lady standing by it with her spare tire leaning against the bumper. I turned around and went back and helped her change her tire. Her Husband had showed her where to put the jack when they bought the car, and she had it in place. There is no way that she could have changed that tire. I had too get my 4 way lug wrench out of the Jeep to loosen her lug nuts. That little "L" shaped lug wrench would never have worked. I am not a small man, at 6'3" and 250#, and I could not loosen the lug nuts with her factory lug wrench. I told her that she needed to go buy a 4 way lug wrench so that she would have it for the next time. She whole heartedly agreed.

I recently sold my Yamaha XT600, because if it tipped over, I could not lift it back up. When you ride dirt bikes, you WILL need to lift it back up occasionally. Good video. I have done the same thing with my excavating. When people need a trench for a sewer line or water line and are worried about the cost, I don't charge them. Many people I have done work for paid me a lot more than I charged, so around our small town in Idaho, people are helping each other. Yesterday, I helped a snow removal company. His truck was not working, so I used my Kubota side-by-side and front blade, to help clean snow from a church parking lot, street and access to the church, at no charge. This church also serves as the food bank location, so it needs to have access and lots of parking .

But……the next time you want to spend $5.00 on a quick pick or a scratch off just hand that $5.00 or $1.00 over to someone that’s in need. You’ll most likely make a bigger difference. Remember what Jesus said, “when you do unto others you have done unto me. So feed somebody, clothe the naked, visit those in prison etc etc.

Wow! It is so nice to see you show us that, helping someone in need, can be so rewarding to the person who is the helper. This illustrates how private charity includes a grateful person, and person who feels good about giving to another, that’s the reward.
Good on you Casey, this is the best recovery video I have ever seen! Thank you.

Gonna make a guy tear up... when I used to do computer repair, there were times when I would get called out to help the poorest of the poor. I'll never forget some of those very hard moments when somebody who clearly had much less than I did *insisted* on *TIPPING* me and wouldn't let me say no. I drove away crying. Or the times when I could really make a difference by taking a computer that was on its last legs, throwing some used/free parts at it, and giving it more life. And like you... no charge. I always misquote a scripture from the Bible, but essentially it says "When it's in your power to do good, do good." It's the best feeling in the world, too.

    You're the sh&t.
I think it's an Oregon thing ( in part).
I had a blowout north of Madres back in 79. A local ranch hand helped us flip our trailer up onto it's tires. Took our wheel off to the ranch and put a tire on it. Helped us get the car up the road (front suspension was trashed) to a safe place to park...
The story continues for a month of THE BEST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED HELPING A COUPLE OF GUYS FROM WASHINGTON GET TO LAKE TAHOE.
    Oregonians rock!!!

This comment is one year late, I’m just now catching up on your videos! Thank you for allowing us to pay-it-forward and for all of your good work to help the community. I have a Nephew and his family living in Bend, they too moved from California recently. I am so happy to know that he moved to such a wonderful community to raise his two young boys and that there are folks like you there to help those in need. God Bless and Keep You Safe in your good works!!!
