Dear Mike.
I haven't heard this masterpiece in 32 years. I am not ashamed to admit that it brought tears to my eyes. A very rare thing for me. It reminds me of the young man I was at 26 living life on my terms in Cyprus. So many wonderful memories. Your music is a blessing. I am now 58 living back in my hometown of Brisbane, Australia, and doing okay. Nostalgia can be a good thing. A bit younger at heart. Thank you, Sir, and cheers.
I saw this concert first on PBS and was delighted when I found it here. Mike Oldfield is a superb guitarist and arranger. This is one of my favorite concerts and I watch it often.
❤ I came to this via a strange route, I first heard the original Tubular bells played by the Royal Philharmonic orchestra and was blown away by how brilliant it was, after some investigation I found it was purchased by my mother but she picked the wrong record up at the shop. We then got the original and I became obsessed with it, playing it as much as possible, then came this masterpiece TB2 I think I prefer this to all the others, and to see it performed so perfectly is amazing in itself.
Thank you for uploading
My dad recorded this for me onto vhs from the tv when I was 15 years old. I instantly became obsessed with it. I spent months and months figuring out all the guitar parts. Playing, stopping and rewinding countless times on vhs when I think about it was quite the undertaking. Haven’t listened to it for many years but hearing it now (30 years later) has sent some serious shivers through my whole body. Thanks for posting. Nostalgia city..!
Reminds me of my dad..he loved Mike oldfield..r.i.p...dad.
Yes, it's a very compelling piece indeed! You never forget one single note once after you've memorized it!
Mike Oldfield es un regalo para los sentidos. Él y sus músicos serán siempre eternos y únicos.
Used to listen to this all the time, my parents were friends with Oldfield's PA so we were lucky and got a tape of TB2 before it was released or even the world premiere. Had a load of his other music first as well.
Just a brilliant performance. Thank you for sharing this. Loved it since I saw this many many years ago, A suprise find back then and an influence on how I approach composing music 25 years later.
Hes no Beiber though... Hah!
HA HA
Absolutely Masterpiece of Mike, love it! ❤❤❤
Amazing quality, amazing music. Still goosebump! Thanks for sharing!
I owned the DVD of this, which got stolen during a house robbery.... Of my DVD music collection this is one of 6 of my most prized DVDs... 2 DVDs of Michael Flatley (One in Ireland, and one on a big 3 prong stage), 2 of Queen (One was Wembley Stadium) and one was Cher's last tour. Jesus, I need to find these again....
Mi primer cd que compré en los 90,s .
Ya lo había escuchado en vinilo y tenía grabado en cassette y siempre me gustó escucharlo, ahora verlo en vivo es una tremenda sensación.
I remember listening this live on bbc radio 1 as was broadcast on tv!!!
This is my favorite Tubular Bells album.
Listen to this every autumn, one of my favourites
I had this on videotape, a very enjoyable concert !
Very good remastered with informations about this great Concert, with Timestamps and Musicians. This is perfect.
Congratulation !
the best music.
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.
Every piece is amazing, but personally the bell and that ending… Genius
That moment with pipes at 47:52 still takes my breath away 🥲
Would pay anything to have experienced that moment. Even Mike allows himself a cheeky smile just before they come in as he knew how amazing that moment would be in that location!
I was there, and the video does not capture the majesty of that moment. The first "bagpipe" section is played on guitar, and we had no idea that there would be actual pipers.
Raised the bar again in TBIII !!!
All the musical genres I Love and Cherish are on TB2! This concert really shows that Mike's a tad underrated as a guitar player, to say the least! Love and respect to you, Mike! ❤👌
Just found this channel and delighted with all these masterpieces!
Ooh men, your channel is a Masterpiece... Thank you
Zeitlos geil und immer voller Friede und Wärme
I was there, it was bloody freezing cold
Wow. I watched it on TV live, but I would loved to have been there !

Mágico.
Maravilloso!

The concert was filmed in 4:3. You can either crop that to 16:9, which loses information, or stretch it to 16:9, which distorts the picture, as it is the case here. So not HQ, but actually LQ.
39:13, good picture
Such a pity he never released it as a Live CD/download

Which Instrument do @unmodel play?
Is that the stadium where the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is performed?
Yes, Edinburgh Castle..
1:01:47 This concert ends as all good concerts should end - with someone lighting the conductor's fart
