  • www.invisiblesh... -- How to make huaraches, the running sandals of the Tarahumara. Part 1 -- creating the foot pattern.
    If you're into barefoot running or minimalist shoes or flip flops, you really should try a pair of running sandals. With the right materials, like what we use at Xero Shoes, you get the fun and benefits of being barefoot, with just enough protection, a perfect fit, custom style, a 5,000 mile warranty, and an affordable price.

    Thanks dude, great! I made a pair of shoes for my wife, daughter and myself with some old shoelaces and a retired yoga mat! It took me 30 min. Thanks a lot for the tips.

    Wow Steven! Crazy to see how far you have made it now! Sharks were dumb turning you down but I think you are better off! Stay true to your passion ;) I am considering buying your kits but after buying roughly 40 pairs of Xero Shoes for my wife and five kids, I am broke… I wish you sold these kits a little cheaper

    ROFL - love this reply!
    Regarding your toenails, I like them long, but frankly what you chose to do is your choice since they do belong to you.

    I made my first pair today. Took 15 minutes. I don't know why I waited so long to do this. It's the closest thing sociable acceptable to being barefoot lol. I can wait to start walking and then running!

    Will try this at home.
    If it looks and feels as good as it seems, I might consider buying the Vibram sheet you sell.

    • @stevensashen
      @stevensashen 8 років тому

      +Shay Shlomo Hazan FYI, the Vibram rubber is in our Classic Kit. The FeelTrue rubber we developed and use in our regular kits is WAY better -- last longer, better grip, pre-cut, reinforced ankle holes, etc.

      Oh, sounds great. Let me try it out with scrap material first though. I want to get it just right in the making part before I move to better (more expansive) materials.

    @Jetpilotwacker Plyos are a big help. Just getting stronger is another. I'm a huge deadlift fan. My 1RM is just under 500 lbs now; I weigh 147... and I can definitely feel the effects of that. You didn't mention your age, but at *my* age, a 7.5 60m would put you in the top 5 in the country. If I can get into the 7.6s, I'd be THRILLED.

    Just an FYI, using tires these days is very difficult. They have layers of steel wire inside of them, making it almost impossible to cut, even with equipment like a sawzall.

  • @invisibleshoes
    @invisibleshoes  13 років тому

    @Jetpilotwacker Depends on how fast you are, and it depends on how you tie them, and it depends on your sprinting form. I'm a 48 year old sprinter -- 7.79 60m, 12.1 100m. While I've been able to wear my Invisible Shoes for sprinting, I typically wear them for anything slower than 14 second 100m and then put on my spikes for anything faster.

    Thanks so much i really wants to make one pair for me can you write the name of the matterial that you are using and to give some alternative options which are easy to be find : )

  • @invisibleshoes
    @invisibleshoes  14 років тому

    @californiadajatt This is similar to the Tarahumara huaraches. But those are made with used tire rubber which is quite heavy and stiff.

    @greenteagod I think many people wear shoes that are too narrow for them without realizing. One way to tell is to look at one of your feet when you have most of your weight on it, and see if the sides of the shoe bulge out past the sole of your shoe. Of course this may only work with an older pair of shoes that are a bit worn out.

  • @pacific1waters9
    @pacific1waters9 13 років тому

    @greenteagod
    I noticed the same thing many years ago on my first trip to Colombia. The street urchins never wore shoes and their toes were even more splayed than his and the foot much wider than what we consider normal.

  • @vipermadman
    @vipermadman 14 років тому

    What is the 4 inch line for?

  • @invisibleshoes
    @invisibleshoes  14 років тому

    @vipermadman If you're faxing or scanning/emailing the tracing to us, so we can make you a custom-made pair of Invisible Shoes, the fax/scanner may change the size of the tracing. I use the 4-inch rule to re-size the tracing to the correct dimensions.

  • @ghigosandals6118

    Do you have pics or videos of your toenails?

  • @invisibleshoes
    @invisibleshoes  13 років тому

    @greenteagod I don't know how/if my "toe splay" has changed, because I haven't really paid attention to it, and don't have some way of measuring the before/after. But I can tell you this: The first pair of Invisible Shoes that I made for myself (18 months ago) no longer fit. They're a bit too narrow. So my midfoot has gotten a bit wider since I've gone barefoot/minimalist full-time.

      BeAMan I did not put in shoes, I ran barefoot for the bigger part of my childhood, yet I'm flat footed. Same with my older brother. My sister and younger brother have high arches.
      It's not the same for everybody.
