COP-4 to the Minamata Convention on Mercury-Second Segment

- Fourth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Minamata Convention on Mercury (COP-4)-Second Segment was officially opened by Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Siti Nurbaya Bakar on Monday, 21 March 2022, accompanied by the Executive Director of the UN Environment Program (UNEP) Inger Andersen, Executive Secretary of the Minamata Convention on Mercury Monika Stankiewicz, Governor of Bali Wayan Koster and President of COP-4 Rosa Vivien Ratnawati.
Under healthy safe measures, the global conference takes place in person until 25 March 2022 and attended by 800 delegates from 139 countries.
Representatives from government officials, intergovernmental organizations, UN bodies, academia and civil society participate in the plenaries, working groups and numerous side events.
The plenary meeting started with more than 400 representatives in person and 200 online.
