2004 VW Touareg Owner's VHS: Driving your Touareg

  • Owner's manual supplement for the 2004 Volkswagen Touareg. This cassette came with our new-to-us 04 V10 TDI :)
    The presentation covers basics of operation of the Tiptronic transmission, air suspension, differential locks, low range gearbox, radio navigation system, plus other items.
    This also shows the problems with VHS tapes degrading over time: I took this tape out of the shrink wrap to play it, and much like the 93 EuroVan tape it has some dropouts and noise.

    I find it interesting that in these promo videos they never use the definite article when referring to their product.
    "When you unlock Touareg"
    "...By loading Touareg with functional surprises..."
    Apple does this too at their keynotes when talking about the iPhone.
    It's very unsettling to hear because it's not how anyone ever talks about products. 99% of people would just say "The car has..." or something like that.

    I'm getting the V6 non diesel), it doesn't stink like a diesel and doesn't sound like a tractor like a diesel car which is nice. It's very confortable and pretty silent.

    • @michieljames737
      @michieljames737 8 років тому

      Well I have two V6 Diesels in my garrage and they are so quiet that you dont even hear them in the cabin.
      When I come home with my Petrol Jetta, the dogs and the whife can hear when I pull up.
      With the Toauregs, not even the dogs know when I pull up.
      Also with the catlythic converter, you dont even smell diesel at all.
      So I don't know what rock you live under...

    I'm seriously thinking of buying this car. Ofcourse with a V10 TDI engine. I can get one from 2005 for 7000 euros. Yes it has over 250 000 km on it but I'm hopping VW quality will make it go for another 200 000 - hopefully..LOL..

    • @compu85
      @compu85  8 років тому +3

      +vegass04 Have a mechanic who knows V10s look them over. They are very expensive to fix when they fail. Also look for oil change records. Unless it has had 5w40 all of its life it probably needs camshafts.

    • @vegass04
      @vegass04 8 років тому

      ***** Thanks for the info. I googled a bit and found out about the mileage it gets. It's terrible. It's incredible how much has the car industry advanced in the last 10 years. That Touareg with 313 HP takes around 13 l/100 km combined. And if you look at any modern 3.0. diesel with 300 HP, it's around 7-8 l per 100km. I guess with that mileage and the price of maintaining one, Touareg is a bit out of my range. It's easy to buy a car, but when the expenses start to pile up, you want to shoot yourself in the leg. I stick to my previous choice - Alfa ROmeo 159 Ti..

    I still love the V8 4.2 2004 Touareg
    It drives like a ship. Heavy, smooth, and powerful. Non of the newer Touaregs compare. Now that you have improved upon the technicalities, bring back the 2004 model to the market, equipped with all these neuschkeinten. It will outsell above all its competitors. And, please, we still want to keep driving the old Touaregs. We need spare parts for replacements. Make them available, please. Don't leave us to go scavenging. Help us enjoy owning the classics. We are willing to buy the parts to refurbish what we have. Help us pimp our ride.
