Highly recommend for skiffs love it on my Carolina 16ft. Especially for light boats you can control the pitch so going over wakes you can raise the front end. Also before I make big turns or just out having fun you can tap trim up and turn with light chop and not get wet. I’m about to make my own dang video bc I just bought another 16 newer Carolina and I it is night and day difference. Just ordered my SE 400. It also gives the boat a bigger feel on my skiff by controlling bounce so it feels really good like when you’re going more top end speed over big long wakes. Can’t believe people don’t like foils. How don you think people ride boards above water lol it harnesses a deeper source of water and can trim up a touch to get your boat to ride light and smooth.

Great vid. I have the same motor as you, tried to use the SE Sport 300, but the hole where I would have to drill intersected the anode so it wouldnt have worked. Going to pick up one of these 400s.

I have the same motor and am contemplating adding this hydrofoil. Thanks for posting this video, but I'm wondering if you have an update regarding performance after you installed this unit. I was hoping for quicker planing time and no loss of top end speed.

I can't say if it planes quicker for sure or not and if I'm being honest, I don't think I've ever had the throttle wide open once on plane. I think the boat performs about the same with a noticeable difference in prop ventilation in tight turns. I still ventilate more than I would like, but it has helped. I think trim tabs are the way to go, but I just don't want to drill holes my boat right now.

Another helpful video. I see some fishing rods in the corner. Do you fish with the Bayliner? If so, how do you transport the rods?

Hi and thanks for video. But honestly, in what way does it perform better for this Mercury?....in my opinion it should increase fuel consumption at average speed. Thanks for reply

Not if you're not pushing a ton of water trying to get on plane every single time you throttle up. This will save fuel, IMO.

How has the “drill-free” option work for you? Is it sturdy enough to withstand the harsh/rough conditions on the water? And any noticeable difference in terms of planing? Thanks in advance!!!!

It has held up well. I haven't touched it since I installed it and it's rock solid. The boat definitely performs better, but it's not a drastic increase. For the cost and ease of installation, it is worth doing, but trim tabs would result in better performance without question. Thanks for the question.

Pause4Life : For a small boat with engine 15 HP mercury is there a drill hydroslider for that engine, which do you recommend? Thank you

I'm not sure. Mine had the option to drill or not to drill and I didn't want to drill holes in my lower unit. I'm not sure what options are available for smaller engines.

    Did it make a difference?

Yes. It makes a noticeable difference. It doesn't eliminate all the problems, but it does help considerably, especially considering the cost and ease of installation.

It made a huge difference on my legend 16’6”. Eliminated a lot of porpoising, gets me on plane faster without lifting the bow as high. It also gets me on plane now with 4 people in a boat that has a kicker motor and was already slightly underpowered. Just has a 60 four stroke but rated for 75. Increased my top speed since I couldn’t achieve top speed before with all the bow hopping. Worth every penny and the time to install.

@@stuart2970 I agree, I have used this exact model on my 18.6 Gambler and it definitely helps!
