I visited Norway and did the Trolltunga hike last year in August, I'm not sure I've been to a more beautiful place in my life. We literally hiked the 22km in flat shoe vans in 6-7 hours if I remember correctly (i could be over exagerating) with a day pack and could hardly walk the next day due to not being prepared and thinking the hike was going to be easy (in true naive american fashion). Needless to say, one of the more challenging hikes I've done. I can't imagine what it would be like with all that gear on your back! It's definitely worth all the pain though. Safe travels! :)
The trail is really popular amongst turist, but they don't realise how tough it is, so people have to be saved all the time. They get really tired on the way down, and dont have enough food or clothes. Some only bring plastic bags, it's insane. But it's breathtaking though, I've been there twice and it took me 10 and 12 hours 😂
Thanks Brendan. Didn't know much about Norway, and Norway landscape. I am stunned! It's magical there!! I am convinced. (After like 2 mins into your vlog!). Will go there! You can get your check from Norway tourism board!! lol
Duuuude! What? Come on, these places are just RIDICULOUS! You know what would be cool? Keep track of the routes you take during your trip so we have an idea of what is where. I'm dying to go to Norway and this would certainly be helpful to plan ahead. Also, what's the temperature like at this time of year? Anyway, awesome content! Keep it up! 👌
Just found your Vlogs. Im heading to Norway for 2 weeks and travelling from Alesund down to Bergen. After watching your vlogs and others on here i cannot wait. Great vlog my friend
Brendan van Son just 98 days to go....getting more excited by the day. Always come back to your Norway vlogs to remind me of what I will be experiencing 🇳🇴👍
Subscribed to your channel in recent research and hopes to going to Norway this year. LOL at the flip flops! I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIKING IN FLIP FLOPS!! Haha
Man I want to go there, but an 11km hike with gear, that'll take me 10hrs easily, much kudos to you Brendan you must have been moving like road runner up that trail.
I guess its time to get yourself a Mavic, quality is actually great once you get the settings right (which requires some researching and trial and error). Looking forward to tomorrow's vlog.
Trolltunga is very Popular at the moment, they expekt around 100k visitors. Maybee thats why the trail was a bit muddy. But there is are a downside. A lot of people are not fit to go up there, some haven't got the right gear or they haven't got enough Food and drink for such a long and hard trip. There an alpine redcross team who have to go rescue them who can't take CARE of themself. But they are only a volunters, and have ordenery job. Last year they Had 22 rescuesmissions, and the expect more this year.
was the road not open to get to Topp? I think I would pay to park at Topp then start the hike there. I kind of wondered when the tickets stopped for the day. I would probably drive up and camp out in my car and rest then hike in the evening like you did. I have heard that the crowds are just RIDICULOUS!! I had looked at this very hike a few years ago when it was just the funicular path and it was less popular just mainly avid hikers and photographers. I think I would have packed less photo gear and more survival gear :)
Hey! I just watched your Vlog. I am plaining to do a trip in Norway to see the trolltunga! I think I will sleep near by the spot and I was wondering if you can give some intels, advices for the hike, the spot to sleep...etc. Thanks !
I wish more Norwegians would be as amazed by the incredible nature we have here in Norway, most of the time people just take it for granted which is a huge shame. PS: If you ever come to Norway to hike, remember that there is a requirement to always say hello to people you meet in the wild, always.
Maybe you should be cycling through Norway, so you can really take in the beauty. We cycled up from Finland to Nordkapp a few years ago and yes it is amazing. We were going to cycle back down along the coast of Norway after Nordkapp, but in Alta we took a sharp turn south and headed back to Finland. Very expensive Norway is and for long term travelers it was hard on the budget. :-)
Hey Branden, awesome place hope to make it there someday. Have you heard anything from Greg lately? I just uploaded a video "Revisiting Your Photo Locations". Now this is my first video so keep that in mind if you or anyone here checks it out. Later!
Your unfortunately not a good role model. Bad preparation lead to underestimation and it seems you've been not really orientated. This is the reason why the number of rescue operations here skyrocketed the last years. Besides: Drones are not longer allowed at Trolltunga - also thanks to guys like you! Cheers from Bergen
