Yeh, the upside down thing is true. I got a catfish who likes to stick on the underside of a little amphora (it's one of the sucker-mouthed catfish, like a pleco but a lot smaller) I have as a hideout and decoration. The funny thing is, it falls alseep and then falls off which results in it sleeping on its back. The first few times I saw it I thought it had just died, but nope, it always gets back up. Kind of like the fish equivalent of a cat falling asleep on its back with its paws stretched upwards.
Im pretty sure that he does it for the attention, if i'm not wrong that entire Mola Mola thing he said before was a copypasta and wouldn't be surprised if that was too.
Lmao the lake one. If your first thought about swimming in a lake is that there may be dead bodies…. I’m a little concerned about ya. Also, yes there are some dangerous animals that live in CERTAIN lakes. Literally any kind of environment you can do that with. Like forests? I could tell you to never go hiking in any forest ever because bears, wolves, and moose may be there. Like…. just pick a lake that you know doesn’t have this shit and you should be fine! Dude May as well just never do anything ever. Eating? You could choke and die. Breathing? There could be something in the air that you breathe in and it kills you. Walking? You could trip and fall juuuuust the wrong way and break your neck and die. Like…. just do your research on the lake if you’re so worried! There was that scarred, absolutely massive kangaroo that kept terrorizing pedestrians and dog walkers. Are you gonna refuse to walk anywhere in your neighborhood because some kangaroo in a whole other continent (if you don’t live in Australia) could have hurt someone? People have been killed by dogs and you’re far more likely to die that way than anything he said just from statistical reasons. Yet aside from phobias, most people generally aren’t all that afraid of dogs and even sleep with them in the bed. Don’t get me wrong, you can talk about these things like amoebas or gators, but this sorta exaggeration and fear mongering just infuriates me! Like…. don’t scare people away from enjoying lakes and nature just because there are gators and hippos in the world, not that particular lake some family is going to, just generally in the world. Refusing to swim in a lake in America (random example) because hippos live in lakes…. in AFRICA is just absurd!
Hippos are mad crazy and crazy mad, gators will pretty much literally not pay attention to you and you won't see them until you're inches apart, so really, one way or another you won't have much to worry about 😂 and neither like being anywhere under 70 degrees
Video idea: You make a series of you going on your outings, but you call them "Fish Pokédex” and it’s literally you just doing what you normally do but you show us the family, genus and species of the fish and make each episode titled like "MOTHER OF FISH BIG BOI FOUND|#1 Fish Pokédex: Lake Michigan(or some random streams since I know u don’t like fishing)” and it’s just you catching and explaining the family, genus and species and showing us you posting it on your iNaturalist to interact with you. THEN you can hold a fish identification tournament months later after u post more vids and just use the fish you’ve identified on your inaturalist. Would really show who follows your content and also allow ppl to prep better for the tournament. Nonetheless, maybe I’m being a nerd, but love hearing the fun informative information you provide. Keep it up!
When I was a kid, here in Australia, we would find rock pools full of sea urchins, anemones, blue ringed octopus, and all sorts of creatures. most of those spots have disappeared over the last 20 years or so though :(
Thanks for blessing us with your good content fish daddy, I admire how you remember names of every fish, while I’ve been in the Bahamas I’ve been trying to name all the tropical fish I find , so I too can embrace being learned
You can get a fossil of a common fish from the green river formation for about 15$ depending on the size and seller. At least in the us. I may or may not like collecting fossils 😅 As for where, I have gotten fossils online, in rock shops, street fairs, and from this one lady at the local flea market
You should react to casual geographics videos about the ocean. His descriptions about animals in general are so educational yet so entertaining to watch
not someone in his twitch chat saying “STDs” when he asked them what they collect. that was so funny. update: after reading other messages from chat, ive skillfully determined that the STD collector is the least of our worries.
Fun Fact! Hippos are in fact native to Africa, BUT they can also be found in South America. Specifically Colombia, because when Pablo Escobar was alive, he had hippos brought to his like compound and when he died, they were released into the wild and they have to breed and that's why you can find hippos in Colombia!
I think that one guy about the lakes was getting one of the Great Lakes (don’t remember which one) with all lakes??? Apparently in one of them the conditions make of decomposing kinda hard and either makes things fossilize easily or mummify (don’t remember which one either) I don’t remember a lot of the details but I know it’s one of the Great Lakes and not all lakes, so if someone knows the details pLZ add on
Coyote Peterson is a Animal UA-camr who is definitely pretty responsible and helps with Animals Conservation and spreading awareness of many things. One example is he helped with a Campaign to get Alligator Gar on the Wild Game fish list so that they can be regulated as apposed to just killed all the time! You can collect fish fossils, plz do. Collecting plant and dinosaur age fossils is my favorite thing to do. It takes time, but you can find a fossil in designated locations in less than 10mins. Spend and hour or two and you can find some really cool one. Over time you can find some super cool ones!
Monterey bay aquarium had a young great white in it when I was little. They explained that it would be released when it was ready. I can’t remember if they hatched it or if it was in rehab for something (I was like 7).

There is an eco-resort in Cambodia or Viet Nam that you might like... The brain eating amoeba is an organism that thrives at very high temperatures. When they say hot springs, they mean like the geothermal ones where the water temperature gets up to 100 degrees or higher. And even then, it's difficult to get them in a deadly position because they have to get far enough into your nasal cavity that they encounter a very specific chemical receptor released by your smell nerves that's way up in the back of the passage. And to get there they have to go through all of your body's defenses, which will naturally attack it. Yeah, what they do to you is terrifying, but it's very hard to get them in your system. And even then, the places where you'll find them are uncommon enough that you'd have to specifically go looking to find them.
There is a culture in my house, when you bought a snake head for soup, you will have to slam that thing on the floor. Caz my mom heard a myth that some weird ass monster lizard would pretend to be a snake head, but when you accidentally ate them, they will melt every bones in your body and you will turn into a puddle the next day. Ok cowturtle is the comedic side villain that is just a cheap villain.
