When I started giving readings i was working in the leisure area of a rehab hospital. The patients all were in a state of being open to change for the better and did all those group sessions, and therapy etc.. All those circumstances made it come very natural to do the readings. I could start doing it for free until the value of it became obvious. It was a great time.
I feel seen, normalized and humanized!! Coming from 40 page reports and 7 days, and starting even when I didn't feel good enough! I love this episode so much!!

100% feel seen on so many levels. Isa’s vulnerable honesty was really refreshing too.
As a 4th year commited amateur practitioner (2 years formal study with Nightlight Astrology and The School of The Astrology Podcast and lifelong dabbler), I charge a small fee and/or exchange (lunch, reflexology session, a cake) and that has taken some pressure off (Scorpio Stellium!), manages expectations, and finding out the best approach and presentation for in-person consultations or over Zoom.
I love trades!!! A good friend of mine designed all my branding materials for my astrology business so I gave her a birth chart / current transit reading in exchange. Very beneficial to both parties!
I love how Chris said the onus is on the client to find the astrologer who best suits their preferences in terms of house system and zodiac. It really helps set the expectation to be closer to what the client seeks from a consultation and receives from the consultation.
Love that Isa uses her hands a lot when she speaks.
This is perfect timing for me as I step into the realm of readings and all the feelings that come with these baby steps.

I was resonating with everything she said and when you showed her chart I was like ah that's why haha mars in Aquarius Taurus rising, 8th and 7th house scorpio and sag. My skincare consultations are very specific and personalized. I encourage clients to share how I can make them more comfortable, as in cold or touch sensitivity, quiet or talking appt. I have Chiron in my Taurus ascendant and I have pretty significant sensory issues, so I always aim to make ALL five senses a pleasant experience when they see me
It's so funny with the Aquarius because most of the people my boyfriend sneered at has Aquarius placements and he never knew he was aqua moon ascendant and Uranus in the first 😂

This episode was so inspiring! "It's actually through commitment that we home where we sit in our position, and that's needed right now" - love this! (As saturn squares my natal venus during my Venus return & Jupiter transit). I just enrolled in Chris's Hellenistic Astrology course and I'm so excited to dive deeper into my learning journey that I started informally 5 years ago. I've been doing consultations with friends & acquaintances intermittently for 2 or 3 years now and I'm struggling to transition into taking in clients I don't know and charge money for it on a regular basis. I have a lot of the foundation and pieces in place to start a consulting business but my main problem is how to find clients (other than running ads on social media). I've told my friend clients to tell their friends but it hasn't resulted in new clients. Thanks for your monolithic contributions to the astrology community Chris, you've inspired and taught more people than you know.

Me too - I refuse to do any more written reports. Days is prep and then all the typing up etc. I came at t his late in life after studying for years, so I will never get to the point where it is cost effective for me to do a consultation. Hard for me to keep things simpler and not say everything I see. My favortie way to read is off the cuff and not for money. Far more relaxing for me. But I always say - you have to give me something - if it is just lunch.

People just want free readings. It hurts me a bit. They don’t treat it seriously despite it taking time to analyze etc. They sort of want it for free and at times in personal relationships I’m forced and pressured to read multiple charts

Thank you..I really appreciate this podcast as a scorpio stellium student of astrology myself. I feel compelled to research astrology, its my happy place. However the ruler of my scorpio sun, mercury, jupiter and neptune being mars is in the 12th house as is my aries moon ruler and so I hear you regarding the self sabotage about putting yourself out there as an astrologer!..gotta do it!!

i resonate deeply with vedic whole sign and placidus systems, even though the charts to totally different. My western charts is quite dark, plutonian and my vedic is significantly lighter and more lovely. I'm so glad I read into the vedic.
I’m still navigating my shame around being interested in astrology. No one in my life even knows I like it and I’m afraid to let anyone know because it’s seen as something that only delusional people believe.
Definitely had my my skepticism but after studying advanced astrology I can't deny that it works, lm still blown away even now on the daily how accurate it is. This is what I need! I have such a hard time with predicting astrology, but I think I’m realizing it’s a lot more detailed than I thought. What site does one use to pull up charts?
It's a skill, to interpret a chart, that's not the spiritual component. Charge for skills. Especially ones that can help transform someones life. How is it different than a skilled therapist charging 180+ per hours. Isnt Healing in and of itself Spritual, thanks to Chiron: ) Why should it matter how it happens.
Healing is largely a physical-emotional process. Spiritual pertains to Spirit, so no.
Same concept for nursing. We learn all the book work. The real experience cones when you apply all that you learned to the patients. You gain all your experience when you start nursing job.
i used to work on a tv show where my job was pretty chill and i would mostly read and i would read astrology books and started an astrology ig page and read people's charts for free where i would just type up a little summary on my notes app and screenshot it and post it as a carousel and i would do it for free because i was already getting paid bc i was doing it at work. i also sat down with my coworkers and read their charts and had multiple people say like "i don't believe in astrology but that makes a lot of sense" and my first paid reading was for my friend who wrote a book of astrology poems called Sex Is From Mars But I Love You From Venus and i bought 2 copies of her book for $9.99 so i just had her pay $20 for the reading so we were even but one thing that i think is funny is when i gave free readings i'd have people say "you should charge for this" and i would always think like why say that you could just pay me like a tip or something but yeah it made me feel awkward like should i be like actually... heres my venmo haha

I've a Cancerian friend with an Aquarius moon and sun conjunct Uranus in the first who refuses completely her Uranian nature and will only see herself through the positive Cancerian qualities. Her Aquarian nature is so obvious to me as her friend.
I also feel imposters syndrome alot haha, like I question "am I really an astrologer" 😂 so totally feel like trying to find a voice, I've been studying this now for 10 years but im finally at a place where Im doing it full-time and its severely weird

Isa is an exceptional communicator, but this studennt novice couldn't see that super-strength in her chart. Ruler of the 3rd house ef comms in Cancer projects a moon in Scorpio? Sign of pysychology/incisive investigation? I'm learning, where do others see where her comms skills present themselves? The nature of her brand of delivery (myth, spirituality etc) ?
