@@johnfizzelo3443 Yes, believe it or not, I carried a pocket knife in California schools from 1966 through college in 1978. Back then a pocket knife was what it should be considered; a tool. Now it is viewed as a weapon.

@@johnfizzelo3443 at one point in time boy scouts were allowed a rifle and a single bullet to use for shits n giggles. I should clarify it wasn't at a firing range or anything official/regulated. Literally a bunch if kids walking in the woods with rifles on their backs they could use to shoot whatever they wanted. Maybe it was originally intended for self defense against wild animals but lots of them would just shoot wasps nests and other shit

My sd classic story is kind of amazing. I got it when I was 5 years old. When I was 8 we moved and I couldn't find it. When I went back to that house I moved from some 25 years later my sd classic was STILL on the top shelf of my childhood closet! I now have it put away where I will never lose it again.

I had Victorinox knives since I was a kid and always considered it a tool and never a weapon. So I always had it on me. Few years ago, I had to go to City Hall in NYC so that my friends’ could get their marriage papers. I pulled out my flashlight, keys, and my clear gray classic Victorinox and placed them in the bin before walking through metal detection. And the security told me I couldn’t enter with it. It’s not an expensive knife but it was given to me by my late brother. We took a taxi here so I didn’t have my car to leave it in. I went outside, found this raised concrete wall with some plants in it. I was pretty discreet so that people didn’t realize I was hiding something there. The marriage papers took a little more than an hour. When we came out it was gone.

Love Blade HQ videos I'm addicted! I've had many knifes confiscated one of which was a black Swiss Army Classic SD! I was in 6th grade and I accidentally left it in my school uniform pants pocket one night. I forgot all about it and put the same pants on and went to school the next morning. It fell out of my pocket during math class...My buddy nudged me and looked down and right as I saw it and put my foot over it, so did my teacher! Teacher took it and put it in his desk and I served a weeks worth of detention LOL! ON THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL I WENT THROUGH HIS DESK AND I STOLE IT BACK! I STILL HAVE THE KNIFE TO THIS VERY DAY!!!!

That statement he makes does not make any sense. even tinker and super tinker is different in so many ways from compact. Compact is slimmer than super tinker and has different tool-set. climber is closest one to compact, but without plus scales does not contain pen, and compact does have that combination tool in place on small blade and bottle and can opener. Compact even has nail file on multipurpose hook.

A Victorinox Waiter has been my EDC for at least 20 years. The mini screwdriver is perfect for tightening screws on my glasses. I’ve found the tweezers to be the best tool for removing ticks. I use the toothpick almost every day and it is still as good as new. The corkscrew is very handy when loosening knots. The flathead screwdriver is a little rounded and bent after all the prying. The plastic scales are so worn that the metallic logo inlay is protruding. A have several other smaller and bigger Victorinox knives, but the waiter is the preferred EDC for me.

Just today, I dumped my 5 year test carry of the Cadet for the Super Tinker. The Cadet just didn't provide enough needed tool and the Super Tinker fits the bill without being too big, too big means something I would leave at home and not in my pocket for EDC. For me a deal breaker is that cork screw, I need the philips on my knife, but I would never use the cork screw away from home. The philips gets used every week at least once or twice so I'm so happy to have this Super Tinker back in my pocket again. One of these, not sure what they called it back in the day but my very first knife of any kind was a S.A. knife like the tinker, it set me back 10 dollars back in 1972. I keep my Leatherman in my briefcase for more tools I need but don't want to carry. Check out the super tinker, I think you'll see it's the best choice and not too big.

Cool vid! I think this video will probably be more accurate as "Top 5 EDC choices for Victorinox in 2019". Personally, some of the most iconic models are not even included in the video, such as Swisschamp, Farmer or Soldier. Btw, the difference between a Climber and a Compact is not just a scissors. Compact is currently the only SAK in 91mm lineup that has a combo tool, while Climber has what SAK enthusiasts called the openers layer(can + bottle openers). And Compact also has a Plus scale which host a mini pen.

My First VICTORINOX that I've EDC is the COMPACT. It is still my Go-To pocket knife/tool.
As a Logistician, the Scissors (Cutting Papers) , Pen (Signing Receipts or Documents) , and Knife (opening mail/boxes/letters) are the tools I need the Most.

IMHO The evolution 14 is the sleeper for most versatile 3 layer in the whole line for a city/ suburb carry. If you’re in a rush and you only have time to grab the wallet in one hand and keys/ one thing in the other, an evo 14 has the most bases covered. I’ve had it as my main tool/ backup blade off and on for around a decade. My tally for classic models confiscated from my keys is 7.

In my personal opinion the SAK is best carried with a pocket clip key ring. Like the keysmart pocket clip. It makes it carry so much better. I carry a Super Tinker almost daily. Rock on guys 🤘🏽

My friend had to throw his SD away in an Italian airport. However, after about a week we returned to the same airport and the knife was still there because he had thrown the knife between the actual trashcan and casing.

I have for a long time, since I was a boyscout, thought that SAKs only are for kids and MacGyver 😀
But recently missed the awesome scissors they have, no other MT comes close IMHO.
So I bought me a new SAK, had my eys on a Compact, but ended up with a Super Tinker in black. Put it in my pocket, and then waited for it to prove it's place.
Well, I didn't think it, but now, just a few weeks later, I feel naked without it! They have really improved the tweezers to!
I have always had a one hand opened knife before as edc, but now I must have the SAK to. Wanna guess what my pants weight? 😀

I have the tinker now. My mom took my super tinker from me when I was 7 or 8 years old. I had it for all of about a week, and she seen me use all of the other tools on the super tinker before I used the actual knife. Long story short, she thought it was super awesome until the knife came open and I got it taken away. -15 years later and I still havent found another super tinker in my local stores.

Love the video!!! Have carried my Stay Glo Victorinox Climber forever it feels like!! Its basically a Super Tinker with the corkscrew! I love that with just a little sunlight, my knife glows in the dark and the bright color always helps it stay visible if it falls out of the pocket. This model is the only other model that Victorinox makes with Stay Glo scales. The other is the Rescue Tool!!

I've carried a Victorinox Recruit for about six months. I got it to replace a Tinker that I had lost. Think I'm gonna go back to the Tinker as it is slightly larger and fits my hand better. I also miss the Phillips screwdriver. They are definitely the best and most useful of any knife out there due to the quality control. I also like Case knives but they are very inconsistent as far as blade tension when they are opened. Some are good and tight when opening and some open too easily which can allow the blade to close on your fingers with minimal pressure. Victorinox for me forever.

A climber is a super tinker with a corkscrew. Unfortunately, they don’t make a compact with a phillips you have to get it modded. I recently built a tsa safe Swiss Army knife and each time I go through a check point I have to explain it to three or four different tsa agents and have them go through it to make sure there isn’t a blade on it. So far I haven’t lost any, except to the void between my seat and my console.

The Climber is not a Compact with Philips screwdriver, it's a Super Tinker with Philips.
    Super Tinker Climber
    Tinker Spartan
    Tinker Small Tourist
    Field Master Huntsman
These are the 91mm equivalents I know of (in terms of Philips instead of corkscrew).
