There are so many people saying this is too personal for UA-cam. The family gave their permission for this to be filmed. No one is being forced to watch this. I allowed student nurses to be in the room for the birth of my son. While this isn't for everyone it is part of the circle of life. Death is as well. This family was very kind to allow the public to see this. Criticism isn't needed. This deserves nothing but love.

The Staff were absolutely super and explained every process and I felt that I had ensured that my Brian had been cared for all the time I was there. He had told me before he died that his Soul would have left his body but the team realise that the head says one thing and the heart says another , which is why it was so important for them to respect his remains knowing that I had lost my Soulmate.

At my crematory, we always open the cremation container. Two staff members have make a positive ID of the decedent immediately prior to cremation. We do that via the ID tag/tags on the body (at my funeral home we place an ID band on every decedent we get) we use the accompanying paperwork also. We have to have 4 different forms of paperwork to cremate. A completed death certificate signed by the doctor or medical examiner and the funeral director. We have a visual ID form signed by a family member or power of attorney, whatever the case may be. And, we have a 7 page cremation authorization form that is also signed by a family member or members. The 7 page form also covers as to whether there is a pacemaker or any other kind of implanted medical device. Lastly, we have the final ID form that two staff members have to sign confirming the identity of the decedent immediately prior to cremation. As a crematory operator, I would never, ever, ever start a cremation without checking the identity of the decedent. And, funeral homes dont make people buy cremation caskets like the one in this video. There are several different kinds of cremation containers. The family chooses the one they want.

I handed this to the funeral director who placed it in the coffin with him and, from that day to this, I have often wondered whether it did go with him as I have been concerned that his family may have been notified and had it removed, and watching this video has, somewhat, put my mind at rest, though I do still worry.

      @NESalMonella 5 років тому +15

Just remember to set some $$$ aside as even though you are donating your body to be used as needed, your family (or yourself) are required to make and pay for all burial or disposal fees after A close friend's mother donated parts that could be used immediately for transplant and the remainder of her body would be transported to a university teaching morgue. This was all good and fine until six weeks later when we received a call from the funeral home asking one of us to pick up her ashes.....but FIRST a $4,500 funeral fee needed to be paid. We were (as was the woman) under the impression that after they finish doing research and taking what was needed, that THEY would do the final disposal. We had grieved and had just started to put things back to a normal mode when all of the sudden here we were once again having to plan a funeral and to dispose of her remains. Know exactly what the organization requires BEFORE donating to science.

I considered donating my body but ultimately decided against it for various reasons. I have, however preplanned, and prepaid, for my cremation never doubting
my choice for one moment. Various family members have preplanned their cremations over the years so I am proud to continue the tradition. The formaldehyde
chemical used during body preparation for traditional burials ultimately is a hazardous material along with the use of precious real estate for a useless endeavor,
in my opinion. Some countries, through necessity, mandate cremation because of this very point.

Hey...Knowledge is Power. I'm all for total transparency when it comes to the Funeral Industry. There are LOTS of n'er-do-wells who will exploit people at a time of loss, when you're most vulnerable, and up-sell as much as possible. This Funeral Director seems Extremely kind and respectful. My only issue was the ID cards on the plastic urns being held with a rubber band. Yikes ! They need those stick on, acetate window thingies to put the card in, to ensure it doesn't fall or get knocked off.

My 15 yr old dog died 2 months ago and I chose to have her privately cremated. The veterinarian asked if I liked to be present during the cremation process and I just didn’t have it in me :( it’s like watching her die all over again.
I received her ashes 4 days after her death. Her ashes were placed in a plastic urn as it was part of the fee I had to pay.
I couldn’t afford the fancy looking urns. I’m not ready to look at her ashes in the bag but sometimes I wonder if I got the right ashes and not another dog’s or other animal for that matter

just so you know. the bits they showed are from the crematory operators postiton in the process. Any and all safety checks and identification on the body is done in a pathology building and or mortuary. At the crematorium their purpose is to carry out the steps of the actual cremation. they don't open the container (i say because coffins aren't always used) for respect to the decedent and the decedent's family.

First we had paperwork about the person to be cremated (Name, Age, Sex, Cause of Death) The we had to Fill out in Triplicate (also in a Log Book) when we started the Cremation Process (put the body in the Retort) and when it was finished. Also, two metal "Tags, one when in with the Body into the Retort and then the Bone Fragments when it came out and the other with the Paper Work. My son was only 19y 1m 20d old when he got hit by a man driving a truck, the driver was NOT paying attention to the road and struck him with his bumper and he ended up under the rear differential of his truck.
He passed away 2m and 4d later on November 28, 2023. I wanted to bring him home and bury him myself but the county and laws were to much to do in the time I had to get it all done in time as they want the body out of the morgue as fast as they can.
I know I wanted my son close to me as he was my only child and I had no ideal how much I would have had to do to bury a family member at home on my ranch, so I had to have him cremated.
I do not understand why the state has to get so involved in the burial if your own family members other than to make sure it is done. Lots of costs to do it and it seems the state cares more about money than the people and their beliefs on the dead. I feel my rights were so trampled on by the government and I had to surrender to the governments wishes when it comes to my own family.
But I will now also be cremated and when my new wife dies our ashes will be placed in her coffin and we all will be lowered down together to spend eternity together.
May our friends and family rest peacefully.

It varies from place to place, in a vid I just watched of an American crematorium, the bodies were wrapped in plastic bags and placed in a cardboard box. When I worked in a NZ cemetery in the 80s it was more like this, but the view hatch didn't have glass and you had to be careful in the early part of the process because it was possible to be sprayed with hot liquid as the body was sizzling and popping, so you needed to be careful. I was basically a gardiner and only looked into the "crem" once. That was enough.

IF you choose to be cremated, write a directive along with your will stating what YOU want done after you pass.
Today you are also able to prepay for your funeral at which time you can state what you want done and the funeral director willl honor your wishes.
