48V Carbon Offroad Winch and 48V Safiery Meteor with Scotty AI 125A DC DC can deliver 4kW to winch

The big benefit of 48V is small cables and much higher efficiency. This means with less battery capacity we can still achieve big winching. The single Safiery meteor is equivalent to 200Ah at 12V. It is coupled to the alternator with a Scotty AI 12-48V DC DC that can accept up to 125A from alternator. This means a total of 2.5kW from the battery and 1.5kW from Scotty AI for a total of 4kW of winching power. This video was filmed at #campcoffs with the #JeepJamborree at #easter. It’s the beginning of field trials to select the right motor/ gearing combination. The motor is a 3 phase AC brushless permanent magnet motor at greater than 90% efficiency. Compare that with the 12V Series motors which, when hot are around 50-60%. Thats a huge improvement on power to the winch for the same 4kW of battery power. The STAR-touch display on the dash shows the 48V battery plus the 12V charging and alternator temperature.
