    I love this plug with drums, organ, and guitars. It takes all those tracks and unifies them into a cohesive sound.

    I think its awesome, final mix was bad but the plug in is definitely worth it if you take your time mixing and working with the results later, there's a reason its a shy $50 away from being a $400 plug in. Real good.

    It's a cool plug in. Dunno about using it in Re Mic Mode to much though, I mean, You'll never get rid of the tone of the room in which the instruments where actually recorded in. Maybe Very Close Mic + A very Dead Room - And even then, its still gonna sound like the actual room, Its just gonna blend with the tone, and that can lead to phase issues, so you'd definitely have to tweak it to get it right!
    Love the knowledge aspect of the Plug. That alone can be worth it!

  • @coryspotts

    You guys, it's not "destroying" anything. It's a convolution modeling/reverb plug-in, and companies like Audio Ease have been doing this for years.

    Most people spend ages mixing in the box - but trying to get that studio produced sound - i.e. getting the recording right at the source - that's what this plugin allows you to achieve. obviously this is a quick demo - the placement options are endless - if the plugin had the option to add your own mic's or more mic's to the config that would be mind blowing, for example setting up a decca tree, or be able to move the mic's around in the room once they are placed.

  • @adsax2164
    @adsax2164 11 років тому +2

    This plugin is amazing - the swiss army knife for tracking instruments - where else could you find this studio in a box with that choice of mic's to use and flexibility of placement. The mic's combined alone cost about £200, 000 - Couple that with their Studer emulation. Altiverb gives you room sounds - but not the inner workings of one of the greatest studio's on the planet with the engineering know how.

    If anything this plug will help bands who are struggling with getting a good drum sound or guitar sound etc. To be able to re-mic what has already been recorded and in turn significantly improve the source can only be seen as a life saver - provided the performance is good and something has come crashing down in the background.

    • @rt-uh6mt
      @rt-uh6mt 4 роки тому

      FWIW I use a UAD satellite Quad and have a different brand interface. Most UAD interfaces only have two DSPs, for a full mix I think you'll want a quad or you'll probably have to mix down or record with the plug-ins getting burned to track to save processing power later on. So if you're happy with your interface you might consider a quad. I got a deal on an open box satellite for a decent price, the one I bought came with three bonus plugins of your choice. For me, my top three UAD plugins are ocean way, distressor and Ampex but there are are a lot of opinions about the most popular plug-ins. Oh and also the Ampeg plugins are essential to my bass tracks.

  • @JimijaymesProductions

    I think in reverb mode it would be quite cool but the remic mode doesn't seem to make sense on those sources, why would u emulate a mic when you have miked the guitar yourself. I think I would use a combination of dry and room sounds maybe use remic mode but with a wet dry mix... On drums where you don't have room mics its a cool idea though but using far mics instead of super close mics sounds muddy.

  • @Dzoni73
    @Dzoni73 11 років тому

    Well during first few intro. minutes of this test, i loved it on solo drums, this is the first plugin that improved sound , no hype in this statement because i dont own UAD platform yet. Tho, this plug-in is not set-and-forget, its requires few tweaking, near the end of this video he changed the sound of OWS alot and made instrumentals buried deep into a mix unlike in the first few moments where the sound was punchy yet full of natural early-reflections....

    • @henrikpetersson2899
      @henrikpetersson2899 9 років тому +2

      Mike Walker I partly agree with you there. I don't think that the final mix at the end sound very good, there's far too much room in it. And the CAB setting that is used on the guitar is better used with an amp sim with the cab simulation tuned off. It just sound muddy with tracks that already have cabs on them, there are better micing options for that.But in general I think it's a great sounding plugin. It can really give a nice room sound to dry tracks.

    WTF, whatever you put through Ocean Way starts sounding out of phase, nasal and scooped. How can anybody find this an improvement over the original source? What was a once punchy track becomes a diluted horribly out of phase track.

    • @JayCrafton
      @JayCrafton 4 роки тому +14

      I completely agree. It's VERY easy to get a bad sound out of this plugin, which is why I almost wrote it off when I first activated the demo. However, I'm very glad I decided to give it another chance. The remic mode is indispensable for electric guitars, as is the reverb mode for drums. The trick with remic is to mute the mid and far mics and first focus on shaping the near mic. You have to get the near mic really close to the source, which makes sense. If you were close miking a guitar cab, even 1 foot would be too far away to place your 57. In a real world setting, it would be as close as you could physically get it! Once that near mic is sounding good, then I dial in just one other room mic and place it where the phase relation is the strongest. That's why they include that phase button. The main downfall of this plugin is that it's so accurate. It's emulating acoustics and multiple mics in a room, which means you will run into major phase issues if you don't setup those mics correctly. And it's very easy to set them up incorrectly. I think I'll be making a tutorial about this sometime soon.

      Every UA plug-in that I own is the best at what it does, there’s no competition or even comparison. Unfortunately , I am disappointed because this reverb however accurate it may be is not inspirational to my own taste. In saying that it could be exactly what you are looking for in a plug in!

    Playing the mix of the tracks without any processing sounds a lot better, than with the plugin. It kills all mids of the guitar and leaves a muddy and crippled sound. Piano sound gets destroyed, too. And what it does with the drums is nice, but basically that's just because of the added room.
    In the mix with this plugin, the instruments do not fit together. It does not sound, as if they were being recorded in the same room. The complete opposite is the case.
    Horrific plugin, from this display.
