I thought the same thing when I first bought a UAD-1 card years back. UA is very good about hardware upgrades and all your plugins transfer instantly. While Powercore and others have fallen by the wayside, UA nailed the balance with value and support. Every day, I use the same 1176 and EMT plugin I first bought with the card.

Nice review! I love the sound of that room, and the C12 as well!

UA plug-ins are really the best value going. You buy them once and the updates are free.
The hardware is very stable and they do their best to keep it usable for the long term.
When you consider how much the actual hardware 1176 or LA2A's would cost you, for four units so you could do stereo tracks, the plug-in value becomes very obvious.
This is a good edition to the UA catalog.

nope 50i, I figured it was easier to spin the cameras round and zoom in than setup the whole thing on the set . For software it makes sense.

very nice review. you could capture details like no other reviewer did for this plugin. Indeed one of its kind plugin from UAD...

Great review! I'm finding the re-mic mode in particular to be invaluable for just changing the up-close flavor of vocal takes. From a reverb perspective it's obviously a bit limited, but if you've got some DSP to spare on a project, it can be nice and quite unique thanks to the space and attention to detail put into the modelling. Sidenote: you should really check out the new 1176 versions if you haven't already. I'd argue the new 1176 and LA2A are worth the UAD hardware price on their own.

I've owned this Ocean Way Plugin for just over 24 hours and mixed feelings about it. Sounds great on drums but when I compare this plugin with audio from a Mojave Ma200 - Hands down, the Mojave alone sounds WAY better. I moved every combination of mics and eq's. Can someone comment? BTW - I'm not in reverb mode

Seems pretty interesting. I imagine by the time I can afford/justify a bit of UA hardware, this thing will be outdated though. :)

It's still $350 at UA and there is still nothing like it on the market. As far as I can see.

@@nuurnwui Wow, youtube really makes you realize how quick time goes by sometimes, but six years later and there still isn't anything quite like this plugin as far as I can find and I l've searched - definitely not outdated.

UAD = backwards technology that Pro Tools just finally got away from... no need for external DSP anymore
