I agree with everything, except for the part when you say Goku's death wouldn't trigger Gohan's Super Saiyan 2. It most definitely would. If not at the time, when Cell reappeared for sure.
Don't forget Cell was holding back THE ENTIRE TIME until Gohan went SSJ2 and he powered up to reveal his full power. So even when tired, he probably would've still been able to mop Gohan. But it's possible that if he couldn't he would've been more serious since he wasn't healed and killed Gohan before he could snap.
Ive always thought Goku saw every fight as training. Goku didnt want to defeat Cell only, he wanted the training advantage of defeating a full powered Cell. Theres always a new threat.
Gohan would probably rage out after goku trunks AND vegeta dieing realizing he is the only savior and go ssj2 anyway i think honestly this would have been epic to see but i love Toriyamas writing as well RIP Toriyama
I don't get why people are so stuck on about the topic. Gohan was the only person capable of beating cell. Thats it. No one else had even close to the power required as seen by how shocked they were, when cell kept powering up against Gohan. The issue here was Gohan. He could've finished cell in under a minute. He messed up, not Goku. Full power cell was no match for Gohan and he needed to beat him at full power to know that. Gohan doesn't believe in himself. That was the lesson. Goku set this dude up to roll Cell. More evidence to the clear power difference is that the other Z fighters, didn't even weaken cell in the beam struggle minus Vegeta, and Gohan was still holding back. This just proves that he was always leagues above cell. I don't wanna hear the pacifist angle either. When he charged up Raddiz, Vegeta, FRIEZA, and the ginyu force he wasn't all shook and merciful. In this situation Gohan should've known what had to be done. Him not wanted to do it is why anyone at all got injured.
Because it for goku is dumb meme. They only want to see the surface level rather. Feriza could have wipe the Z fighter if he took the fight seriously before Goku could achieve SS. However by toying around, Feriza incidentally play into his own defeat. And Cell has a bit of Feriza in him. The cell games was Cell showing offrather taking the fights seriously. By playing into Cell ego, give Gohan the chance to achieve ss2. Of course, no one not even Cell realizes Cell would have regenerate perfectly by one cell after super explosion he committed on himself.
Outcome 3 is such copium I can't even comprehend it. Trunks didnt even know Vegeta cared about him and was suprised about Vegetas reaction to his death. When talking to yamcha in the manga he says "MY FATHER DID WHAT?!" and then "DAD DID THAT...FOR ME...?" with Future Bulma stated even she wouldnt have expected that. Trunks wanted to care about his father but had given up when Vegeta refused to save them from a ki blast from Gero.
Doesn't matter. It is shown even though trunks feels that way he would still be very very pissed off if vegeta was killed, if not for vegeta himself just for the fact cell is killing people and trunks sees this world going to end up like his world and he'd snap. Same with gohan. This dude who made the video saying without android 16s speech gohan would transform just shows me he doesn't understand gohan at all. As soon as one of the mini cells would have killed any of the z fighters gohan would have lost his shit and transformed anyway. He was already really close to transforming before the 16 speech. They used 16s death instead of any of these fighters as a cop out. I think it would have been way more impactful if one of the other z fighters would have been killed before he transformed. But saying without 16s speech gohan wouldn't have transformed is just ignorant.
This video massively underestimates Cell. In the manga, Cell straight up wants goku to take a senzu and keep fighting him. The z fighters don’t say they think goku can win even in this situation. Trunks says if goku gets a senzu and then they all attack cell, they’d have a chance. This is all before cell shows he’s been holding back massively and has a massive powerup scene against ssj2 gohan. Note that when gohan kills the cell juniors, cell is surprised, but doesn’t consider this outside of what he himself can do. A bunch of vegeta level fighters are not a threat to fpcell. Goku likely gave cell the senzu because his objective was for cell to toy with gohan until gohan got angry. Giving him the senzu would have made cell more relaxed and made him feel like he can take his time. Whatever the method, their only opportunity for victory was for cell to toy and not immediately kill gohan
Cell told Goku to take a sensu bean right before he quit. Unsure if this was in the manga, but it shows that Cell was confident that had Goku returned to full strength, he would still have beaten him using the power he had kept hidden durin the first battle. Also by giving Cell the bean and returning him to full power, it allowed Cell to adopt the more casual and drawn out stance, rather than having to ensure that he dispatches the other fighters quicker due to the "main fight (goku) being concluded and wanting to finish the match with what was remaining power. Hitting 100%, even in his weakened state, he would have taken the rest out very quickly, assuming Gohan didn't reach ssj2,
Trunks came from a world where he watched everyone die. That's why he is the only saiyan who doesn't play around when he has an advantage. Plus his mom is bulma so he part genius
I think the reality is, Toriyama was rushing through this arc and was improvising as his editor kept making him change his ideas. Its most likely simpler than that, He just wanted to add more intensity to cells power, and also show how strong gohan was able to get over him without anyone questioning it. Also make cell feel the loss harder. If I want to add my own ideas to it, I also think the whole senzu bean thing was a gesture to see if he can change cell. And if not, Gohan would kill once he is given the choice. Also the Senzu was pointless anyways if you think about it. If cell didnt grow in any power after his fight with goku, He still had a massive amount of energy and power left when he went full power against gohan. I think it was for show that Cell was tired. Otherwise Goku should be able to beat him. He could always bust out more moves to overcome that difference in power. I think all fairness, Gohan usually reacts better to his friends getting hurt, this was the first time since early in saiyan saga, gohan didnt just act. This whole passivism thing with gohan seemed weird for his character. Not saying its bad, But it just doesnt match any of his previous actions.
Imagine if they all ganged up on cell after his fight with goku. Even at full power he’s screwed he’s not fighting all of them off at once without the help of the cell jrs.
It's pretty simple. Goku was thinking about maximizing his son's potential. Even if he was able to kill a weakened cell, Gohan wouldn't have to dig deep and awaken his full power. He would've won, but would end up weaker in the long run.
I can see vegeta end up getting absorbed by cell in the second scenario and the story could easily be about trunks going to the level he went against zamasu
Cell has a bit of Friza inside him. During the Narmark ace, Friza could have easily dispatch z fighter without breaking a sweat before Goku could archive Super Syrian. Friza was toying with them. Always holding back. If Friza take the fight slightly seriously, it would be over. Now Cell is a bit more smart on weighting the risk, choosing the option to win. Cell was more than ready to blow up the world but host the tournament to test his power. He was measures his level against Goku. Exhausted, cell would take Gohan seriously rather toying Gohan to super Syrian rage. As Sun tuz as "If you know your self but not the enemy, you will take losses." Goku is fighting genius, he knew what type of individual Cell is. Remember The Cell tournament is a form of Cell glowing, allowing time for Z fighter to train. Like he said, he knew, not guess, knew Gohan power was stronger than Cell, even knew not to toy with weaken Cell. Let repeat, Goku stated to "kill the weaken Cell." One problem with outcome three, Trunks archive ss2 after fighting his version of the buu arc and fighting Goku black for a long time. Gohan was prime, trained, and ready to archive ss2.
outcome 2 would lead gohan to transform into ssj2 because he got his dad killed (it's why he could immediately return to ssj2 when cell reappeared after all)
In retrospect Goku giving the senzu bean to cell was probably smart since Now when you think of it gohan probably wouldve killed cell without his recovery but now recovered he had enough strength to trigger the SSJ2 form
Goku is the bad guy cause he won't kill but wants his son to kill. What other choice would Gohan have other than to kill cell? "Here you go son, do the thing I can't do." Even Whiz scolded Goku for not finishing of Freiza who then blew up Earth in the Freiza movie.
You also have to consider Gohan’s reluctance to fight Cell even after Cell received the senzu bean. If Goku didn’t give him the bean then Gohan might have never had the change of heart to fight him.
The only point of difference i would make is that without the zenkai boost cell got from having the senzu, he wouldn't have been as powerful, even in his super perfect cell form. He still would have got a boost from coming back from blowing himself up, but he would probably come back at a similar level to the boost he got when goku gave him the senzu initially, anyway
I feel like the boost from coming back from a single cell was probably so great that the one from recovering from Goku would be a drop in the bucket by comparison.
Kinda feel like Goku just wanted Gohan to have to reach the new level of Super Saiyan 2, rather than any moralizing on Goku's part. Part of the Goku's larger character arc (before DBS) is his realization that not everyone will turn into a good guy after losing, and by this point in his arc he's more than willing to kill the shit out of Cell.
Goku could’ve defeated Cell. However, Toriyma intended to end DBZ with the cell saga, and wanted a pivotal moment for this character. Few things are more pivotal than passing on the torch. As a father myself I understand this mindset.
Goku played Cell. Giving him a Senzu made him more cocky so Cell was more willing to let Gohan unleash his hidden power. Weakened Cells would eventually go for a kill.
The problem with having Vegeta step in before Gohan is that Vegeta wouldn't know when to quit. Cell would 100% kill him. Trunks wouldn't go SSJ2 though. He didn't master SSJ1 the way Gohan did. He might fly off the handle and get himself killed though. Also, we see how easily Cell took the senzu beans from Krillin. If Cell felt like he was weakening, he easily could have gotten them and healed himself. I don't think putting Cell through a fight gauntlet run like that would work.
Goku needed Cell to be stronger than Gohan. The only way to win was Gohan unlocking SSJ2 and absolutely obliterating Cell. Even if Gohan could beat a weakened Cell as a SSJ1, Goku remembers Frieza destroying Namek when the fight wasn't was no longer going in Frieza's favor. And Cell was way more powerful. He didn't need 5 minutes to destroy Earth. No. They needed to completely stomp Cell before he had the chance to destroy the planet. That meant SSJ2 was the only option. Now, how do you accomplish that? Not by asking Gohan to grind out a winnable fight. No. Goku needed Gohan to get desperate. He needed Gohan to have no other choice but to unleash. Goku was banking on Cell's ego (similar to Vegeta) goading Gohan into unleashing his full power. I don't think people understand how dire the whole Cell Games situation was. There really only was one chance they had to win. It was a one in a million. The only trick the Z fighters had up their sleeves was SSJ2 Gohan, and Goku had to keep that strategy to himself without giving it away. If Cell knew Gohan could kill him, it could have angered Cell, would could have killed Gohan before he had the chance. Goku really played the whole Cell Games situation out perfectly.
I get Goku’s reasoning for giving Cell the senzu, but if he was viewing the whole thing like it was, a tournament. But aren’t tournaments supposed to be fights of attrition? Like in the world martial arts tournaments by the time the final match happens both fighters have already expended a bunch of their energy in the previous rounds assuming they fight someone of relative power. And they only get small breaks in between matches, so if Cell made the cell games to be that he fought every participant and near the end he was getting tired, kinda of his fault for structuring it that way. And yeah I know Cell didn’t expect anyone to give him a decent challenge but still in the context of it being “fair” it absolutely would have been.
Cell had Zai boost because he not only had Goku cells he had Vegeta’s too so his Zai boost was almost twice of Goku’s and three times of the Vegeta’s. So since you’ve been was not the reason, Cell lost.
As far as we know, SSJ2 Trunks would easily sweep Cell. We know he defeated Dabra with relative ease once he achieved that transformation (and he didn't become quite strong yet), and was quite above 2nd form Cell, too.
Gohan was gonna trigger super sayain 2 regardless of the 16 speech. He is already almost there in the original. One of the z fighters would have died first but gohan would have still transformed
Uk, here’s how i see it. Goku fought piccolo. He tried blowing everyone up Goku pushed vegeta into a corner. Vegeta tried to blow the planet up Goku pushed frieza into a corner, he blew the planet up Gohan pushes cell into a corner? Hes definitely blowing the planet up. How would u avoid this? Give him a senzu so hes going into his fight with gohan cocky af. Its wouldnt matter if gohan tapped into his latent power since goku knew gohan could completely body cell if cell has his guard down
Think of it in terms of Evo. You wouldn't swap in someone and keep the lifeboats low. Gohan had the man downloaded at that point and he was the stronger player
Here's a question: In Outcome 2, does Cell still kill Trunks right after coming back? I was wondering if Trunks could have theoretically been triggered by witnessing Gohan's death

Gohan would probably rage out after goku trunks AND vegeta dieing realizing he is the only savior and go ssj2 anyway i think honestly this would have been epic to see but i love Toriyamas writing as well
RIP Toriyama
Exactly
If only Frieza didn't have sorbet shoot that Death Ray, he would have probably faired a bit better against Vegeta.
Cell Saga Goku: Hey cell, I'm gonna swap out, here's a senzu!
Ressurection F Goku: Hey Freeza, I'm gonna swap out!
Vegeta: Don't you wanna give him a senzu?
Goku: Nah, fuck Freeza.
Imagine if Late Granola arc Blue Goku fought Moro 73
It was a placebo 😆
What are you talking about ? In Super, he literally asks Piccolo to wear down Frost in the T.O.P.
Perhaps Cell would've been more weakened this time than originally.
Gohan would still rage out after Goku Vegeta and Trunks dying.
There is another outcome. Vegeta/Trunks try to finish off Cell, and he "dies" but comes back as Super Perfect Cell... but there's no SSJ2 Gohan now.
Goku jumped Raditz
Imagine if they all ganged up on cell after his fight with goku. Even at full power he’s screwed he’s not fighting all of them off at once without the help of the cell jrs.
It's pretty simple. Goku was thinking about maximizing his son's potential. Even if he was able to kill a weakened cell, Gohan wouldn't have to dig deep and awaken his full power. He would've won, but would end up weaker in the long run.
I can see vegeta end up getting absorbed by cell in the second scenario and the story could easily be about trunks going to the level he went against zamasu
Solid point. 👍
Your title makes it seem Like u think cell would survive Longer with out the senzu bean
If goku hadnt given him that senzu bean gohan not having had anywhere near as much of a fight on his hands would've refused to fight much earlier in.
What if giving Cell the Sensu Bean kept him from getting a zenkai boost
Cell has a bit of Friza inside him. During the Narmark ace, Friza could have easily dispatch z fighter without breaking a sweat before Goku could archive Super Syrian. Friza was toying with them. Always holding back. If Friza take the fight slightly seriously, it would be over.
Now Cell is a bit more smart on weighting the risk, choosing the option to win. Cell was more than ready to blow up the world but host the tournament to test his power. He was measures his level against Goku. Exhausted, cell would take Gohan seriously rather toying Gohan to super Syrian rage.
As Sun tuz as "If you know your self but not the enemy, you will take losses."
Goku is fighting genius, he knew what type of individual Cell is. Remember The Cell tournament is a form of Cell glowing, allowing time for Z fighter to train. Like he said, he knew, not guess, knew Gohan power was stronger than Cell, even knew not to toy with weaken Cell. Let repeat, Goku stated to "kill the weaken Cell."
One problem with outcome three, Trunks archive ss2 after fighting his version of the buu arc and fighting Goku black for a long time. Gohan was prime, trained, and ready to archive ss2.
outcome 2 would lead gohan to transform into ssj2 because he got his dad killed (it's why he could immediately return to ssj2 when cell reappeared after all)
can you upload the video of the sad stories with future gohan meets goku?
In retrospect Goku giving the senzu bean to cell was probably smart since Now when you think of it gohan probably wouldve killed cell without his recovery but now recovered he had enough strength to trigger the SSJ2 form
But Goku Dying and Gohan playing with his food Definitely weren't part of the plan
Goku is the bad guy cause he won't kill but wants his son to kill. What other choice would Gohan have other than to kill cell? "Here you go son, do the thing I can't do." Even Whiz scolded Goku for not finishing of Freiza who then blew up Earth in the Freiza movie.
Probably cell would kill his friends slowly and gohan would turn ssj2 against super perfect cell
Part of the Goku's larger character arc (before DBS) is his realization that not everyone will turn into a good guy after losing, and by this point in his arc he's more than willing to kill the shit out of Cell.
pov: ur allergic to senzu
It's kind of weird that cell get tired
FRAUDhan not getting the job done is more likely the outcome that'll happen if Cell didn't get a senzu bean
Goku could’ve defeated Cell. However, Toriyma intended to end DBZ with the cell saga, and wanted a pivotal moment for this character. Few things are more pivotal than passing on the torch. As a father myself I understand this mindset.
What’s the intro theme. Like what dragon ball game is it from
Great video
here's a question why didn't Goku and Vegeta didn't go after Cell went he went back to Semi-Perfect form??
No pride in it.
I personally felt that Trunks should have been the hero in the Cell Saga.
Frieza - "Would you just piss off already"
Goku - "I DON'T HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM"
Facts about our lifes
Gohan would still transform after goku death
So you don’t think his dad dying in outcome two wouldn’t have sparked ssj2? Wouldn’t have needed Android 16 die.
A Senzu beam?
Piccolo's new move.
@@SaiyanScholar Ah you're right.
He tried blowing everyone up
Goku pushed vegeta into a corner. Vegeta tried to blow the planet up
Goku pushed frieza into a corner, he blew the planet up
Gohan pushes cell into a corner? Hes definitely blowing the planet up. How would u avoid this? Give him a senzu so hes going into his fight with gohan cocky af. Its wouldnt matter if gohan tapped into his latent power since goku knew gohan could completely body cell if cell has his guard down
Think of it in terms of Evo. You wouldn't swap in someone and keep the lifeboats low. Gohan had the man downloaded at that point and he was the stronger player
Perfect cell prob was closer to to ss2 than 1
& a wish from the dragon balls killed kid buu
Here's a question: In Outcome 2, does Cell still kill Trunks right after coming back? I was wondering if Trunks could have theoretically been triggered by witnessing Gohan's death
Like I tell people goku would wait till u reach your strongest and vegeta will help u reach your strongest cause he is impaitent
