Annie, my wife made these today and they turn out great! The dough was perfect!!! Instead of using instant milk powder, she added liquid milk to the water. It is D-lious when freshly made. Thank you so much for sharing.
Sister I love all your cooking in here. I have learn so much and I have learn all my childhood food from you love it. Thank you for showing us how to cook. My husband love it when I cook your recipes yummy :) pls do more lol
Hi, we liked watching your video, thanks for the recipe too. We just made our first this evening and wanted to see what others were doing. So we found your very nice demo video and learned a little from it too. Thanks!
thank you so much for posting this video i haven't seen steam buns since i went to china a few years ago i forgot how much i loved them :D i'm definitely gonna attempt this and you've definitely got a new subscriber :)
Love your cooking. I tried the sweet egg pork but I did it with chicken and it was delicious! I do however prefer pork because I love pork belly =) Thank you so much! I cannot wait to try this one next, one of my favorites next to sweet pork belly!
do you have to use instant milk powder or can you substitute without changing the flavor? Please let me know. I like to try to make this. It does look easy and very tasty! Gosh, I always thought that it look difficult to make this but you make it look so easy! Thank you!!!
yummy! tried it and it turned out great. used milk instead of water, and tapioca/corn starch instead of milk powder. it's not SUPER fluffy, but still fluffy and good. Thanks for sharing!
Can u please also make a video of how to make sesame balls and pad Thai or something kind of like pad Thai? Your cooking are always great and always turn out so delicious. Please show more of your cooking talent and let us learn from you older sister. Please and thank you!!!
Hi Annie! I just want to say you're awesome! LOL! ^_^ I love the recipes that you cook! Thank you so much for sharing your talent! I've learned how to make Hmong Sweet Pork and Khaub Poob because of you! And I plan to make more of your recipes! I made these steamed buns a couple of days ago. I don't have a food processor so I just kneaded, and it still turned out pretty good. The dough was kind of dryer than yours but it was fine. Please post more videos when you have time! Thanks again!
I don't doubt your recipe or food.. But i'm curious if you have ever tried the flour packages for the steamed buns at the Asian market? I too don't have a food processor and would like one but it's one of many things that I need to buy. :). Thanks for the video and hope to see more!
@DailyBread2007 This time I needed two hands so I used my Nikon dSLR camera to record this. It is not as convenient as my iPhone 4S but I do like the video quality of my Nikon. :-) Thanks for the compliment about my son. He's now 18 years old and this was an old song he recorded many years ago. I love him very much and wanted to pay tribute to the inspiration he is in my life. Cooking has always been a special gift I give to him.
@Beautyx3CHARM You can do it by hand, but you will have to knead the dough for at least 15 minutes to 20 minutes. If it is dry, add a few extra drops of water. If you don't knead it properly, it may turn out to be a tough dough and may not turn out the same once steamed. Give it a try and let me know how it turns out.
:-) The song sounds like waiting for the rain to be over so that the sun can shine and the rainbow will appear. The name of my son's song is called "The good die young."

So simple! I'm so excited to try it out! :D
Hello i liked your recipe and also the music
You can use the store flour to save on time. It does taste a little different though. As far as steaming goes, you may need to buy a steamer
sister thnks for showing how to make delicious bun.....i love it...super like
My son wrote this song a few years ago. :-) It's his original song.
have you tried freezing them (raw) to keep in freezer and steam them to eat later?
Are You using a regular blender to blend the dough together?
Awww, that was sweet. thank you.
did you kneed the dough...after removing it from the processer and after it rises..?
I didn't have the ingredients that day, but all you do is add the sausage and egg into it before stuffing.
can i use vegetable oil instead of those two oil? and do i have to use the dry milk?
Hi, are you able to save the extras and freeze them???
Can i use a hand mixer to make the dough?
omg. totally drooling!
Just thought I'd point out that on your ingredient list, you have the yeast listed as 1 1/12 tsp. I'm guessing that should be 1 1/2 tsp, correct?
Believe or not but I learned so much from you keep it up, thank u. Can you make a video how to make Bahn xeo or Bahn Coun
also thnx for the video.....i think i was the one to ask u how to make steam bun!
can you make a video on how to make the buns that they seel at hmong stores??
i forgot what it's call but it has like prok and egg in it.
@kawaiikowai08 Aww. thanks for the comments~. I'll tell my son you liked his song.
can you put more stuffing into each bun? i like my dumplings with more stuffing.
Do you steam with lid on or off?
Is there a way to test when it's ready/full cooked?
AWESOME! :-) I know about 3 other Annie Vangs. hehe
Puas yog kalapao?
thank you, it looks really good!! :)
Can you upload your son song up I love it:) I kept on repeating your video bcos of the song:)
What kind of paper do you use?
U can use a strainer that will fit a pot n steam it that way.
Can I use oyster sauce instead of hoisin sauce?
Looks good.
@kzxiong08 A food processor. Don't make it in the blender. You can also use a hand mixer or stand mixer.
How much "red star" you used to fix with the water?

@taznbay Yes, I have made them with the flour packages but I like it from scratch best. It has a different texture.
Thanks. I love it.
Very awesome

thanks
@whadidusay Awesome! Hope you try it :-) Thanks for your comment.
Hey Annie, I tried this recipe but my buns ended up being really yellow. It didn't have a white finish to the dough. Any advice?
NaLee Thao you need to add white vinegar to the boiling water; the steam will make the dough white!
Love the song
i jus subscribe keep it up i love ur videos
Let me know how it turns out!
Great!
@errantlover5987 :-) thanks for your comment!!! I appreciate your feedback.
Do you have to use the dry milk powder/flour?? If so, where do you get it?
@naturallysheng Will do :-)
Sure
I have a good recipe for that!
