So many bands want to be like Jsu whitehaven is a perfect example the only section I like is the percussion minor band I like there whole band clean and neat
GREAT battle! Whoever said that it's just like FAMU vs JSU is correct. Two different styles, and I'm proud of Minor for not trying to go out of their lane and play powerful. Their style is clean and balanced, come what may. If it's powerful, then it's powerful. If not, then it's still going to sound good. Whitehaven is in your face, high energy, and powerful. Both cater to a different preference. Some say that Minor got the W, some say that Whitehaven got the W. Nobody is saying that either sounds bad.
Minor does good but Whitehaven just to live for them. I went to school with WHS band director and played along side them. They probably wrote those arrangements. #soundsofperfection
Whoever is working the camera is most definitely bias towards WHS. They sound louder because they are in the middle of the band. Lets use some common sense here. MHS C/O 2003
Whitehaven won 💯 ASAP .... da other band should have went home 😂playin all dem old songs .... dey did good, but whitehaven still won. Not sayin dat kuz it's my skool n my band , but all det old skool ??? Nahhhh B . We ain't livin n da past. Da haven is in our blood. we grew up n da haven fym . #HAVEN4L
+Deanna Hatcher So was Minor not on "break" while Whitehaven was performing? My point is both bands had a time to rest and a time to perform. It's equivalent to people working the morning shift vs working the graveyard shift. They are working at different moments and resting at different moments. Both bands performed and rested, just at different times. But if that's your excuse for why Minor sounds to be tired in the video, then I guess I understand...
Don't need excuses, considering that my original point was that Minor still performed better than Whitehaven despite the fact that they came off the field after a 15 minute show and went immediately into that 21-minute side show. You say Minor sounds tired, but I beg to differ. And even if they were tired, they still sound better than Whitehaven. Personally, I couldn't understand what Whitehaven was playing. That was part of their problem on the field as well. All you can hear is a lot of brassy chaos and drums. Not taking anything away from them, after all, they were the second best band there. Whitehaven could be a much better band if they improved on their musicality. You're not suppose to blast EVERYTHING. And just for the record, working day shift is definitely not the same as working night shift. But I won't get in to the differences here. Nonetheless, it all comes down to preference and it's obvious who your preference is, as is mine.
+Deanna Hatcher This was a difference of style. The competition was called a HIGH STEPPING competition, which is exactly what Whitehaven did...evident in every single video recorded. To have the energy to high step AND play is a talent of its own, so let's not try to down play Whitehaven's talent. They didn't blast EVERYTHING, as you say. If Minor is not able to play that range, that's ok. It's perfectly alright to stay in the range you're most comfortable. "Blasting" depends on the song. If you weren't familiar with Whitehaven's song selections, that's ok. 😂 Minor is perfect for a Corp style competition. Point blank, the name of the competition is misleading. As you said, Whitehaven was 2nd best. You don't come in 2nd out of 30 bands w/ "no musicality." It came down to the judge's preference. Obviously, they prefer Corp style, instead of "high stepping." As far as day & night shifts, I've worked both. It's all the same 8 hours, as long as you properly use your resting period.
Vonte Nash crumb doesn't like for use to waste our energy on things like U.K. Little battles some fun but when we on the field yea that's a whole other story
We sound like that because they battled us right after we got off the field. We hadn't even caught our breath yet when our band director said line up for the battle. Plus WH played all the modern songs but they were blasting their horns .
minor y'all worked hard and love minor high school with whitheaven they was trying to be like a hbcu band and there not but minor high school was better.so the people trying to judge them just be quite cause whiteheaven doing to much minor better

Whitehaven is good but they're blasting too much. Minor clearly has more discipline and musicianship.
hands down Whitehaven won this
Whoever is working the camera is most definitely bias towards WHS. They sound louder because they are in the middle of the band. Lets use some common sense here. MHS C/O 2003
I have no affiliation with either school
Ok cool. I was just responding to a comment about Minor not being loud.
WH has some sound for their size
arent those 20s ? why they look so small lol
+willie johnson why they got 18 lmao
minor won hands down !minors musical selection proves there clearly on a different level,Whitehaven loud but the music is boring

Minor is better
Minor is way better than white haven bands
Minor was the winner hands down even after having just left the field from performing.
And Whitehaven performed before Minor, so what's your point?
The operative word "before" in your question is precisely my point. That's at least a 15-minute break for Whitehaven while Minor was on the field.
+Deanna Hatcher So was Minor not on "break" while Whitehaven was performing? My point is both bands had a time to rest and a time to perform. I'm sorry but that purple band is too big to sound so flat. Size of a small college band and sound like that? cmon
It's called musicianship
Vonte Nash crumb doesn't like for use to waste our energy on things like U.K. Little battles some fun but when we on the field yea that's a whole other story
Yung Peso Gaming they sound better this year but we sure did win all the competitors we may have sounded flat there but not anywhere else
Whitehaven is definitely the winner..... not taking anything from Minor HS because they do sound good.... just a bit lackluster
Exactly. Tru 💯 I agree.
i think minors got the edge because they played more technical songs alls whitehaven did was prove the could play loud they showed no technical skill
+Alonzo Parker awe ok...
We sound like that because they battled us right after we got off the field. We hadn't even caught our breath yet when our band director said line up for the battle. Plus WH played all the modern songs but they were blasting their horns .
