if i could only listen to one Vidwan for the rest of my life, Siva forbid, it would be MMI. no one's music gives me this feeling. i remember the first day i hear MMI, on cassette, sitting in my room in the heat on Arulananda Mudali st., San Thome, after purchasing if from some shop on royapettah high road, 1983, January, recommended by my friend R.K. Palaniandi......the moment i saw his face on the cassette cover i had such a good feeling,....till then i had heard only Sri Ramnad Krishnan, from the American recordings on Nonesuch, very good recordings, so very good company. Since, i know so many different fine singers, from stalwarts to geniuses, but there is only one MMI

My favourite vocalist..with his own style..mesmerising voice with beautiful musicians Shri TNK on violin though being dragged by mm iyer in maa janaki but never gave it up and shri v r on mridagam equalled both mmi and tnk in performance..i have been listening shri madurai mani iyer cassettes/records for more than 40 years

This concert that too just a few years before his untimely passing, is one of the greatest efforts in MMI's career. A proper test match, where the whole team of TNK, VR and AR rose to the next level to support MMI.

This team of MMI-TNK-VR-AR was just legendary. AR was so heartbroken by MMI's passing he broke the ghatam he had specifically used for MMI over the years.
