Sunak pledges ‘hundreds’ of missiles and drones as Zelensky visits Chequers

President Zelensky has arrived in Britain at a “crucial moment” in the war as Rishi Sunak pledged to send Ukraine hundreds of long-range attack drones and air defence missiles.
The Ukrainian president will hold talks with the prime minister today at Chequers as he drums up European support for a Ukrainian counter-offensive against Russia
Ukrainian forces have begun to reclaim territory around the city of Bakhmut after nine months of bloody stalemate, Kyiv’s top general has said. “The advance of our troops along the Bakhmut direction is the first success of offensive actions in the defence of Bakhmut,” Colonel General Oleksandr Syrsky said.
Zelensky praised his “friend” Sunak after the UK became the first country to send long-range missiles to Ukraine last week. Storm Shadow cruise missiles have a typical range of about 155 miles, enabling Ukraine to strike Crimea, the peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014.
